  1. Why is that with P&O ships, most Voyager class Royal caribbean ships are older than Arcadia, but they are no where near as scruffy.
  2. Now then all you foodies who have sailed on Iona or Arvia, here's a question for you, how on earth does The Quays chippy turn out such pearly white fish? It is delicious as are the chips, but in all my years I have never come across a chippy that consistently turns out fish so white.
  3. For the EU, the passport only needs to be valid for 3 months when you exit the EU.
  4. There will come a time when you will be more than happy to sit still and just relax on your balcony, so you enjoy all the activities while you can.
  5. Mine was similar, which of course made it easier to discount it as a scam, but I guess many people are taken in by them. Maybe we should send the scammers to Rwanda instead of asylum seekers.
  6. Arcadia has some 3 berth and 4 berth balcony cabins, the 3 berth has a sofa bed, and the 4 berth also has the sofa bed and a pull down bunk, which means the main bed can only have single beds, to accommodate the ladder for the Pullman bunk.
  7. Azura and Ventura do have some advantages over Britannia; they both have promenade decks which provide for excellent sunbathing and people watching, and both have a third large entertainment venue, which is sadly lacking on Btitannia and both of the new ships.
  8. But there are a lot of passengers who book saver prices which don't get free parking, so they do need to know which is the best parking option. However if P4C prices increase as a result of the CPS hike, then we have a choice to pay the higher price, or swap the feeble £60 pp OBC for free parking, but suffer the poorer service that CPS provide. I think I might stay with P4C rather than sit in the CPS queue waiting for the inadequate number of drivers to be ferried back to the terminal.
  9. You need to specify which ship, since each will be different. However you can work this out yourself, if you check the deck plans and the type of cabin you intend booking, then the lowest priced cabin, normally suffixed by H, in that grade will be the lead in fare, and the cabins will normally be the most forward and the lowest deck ones.
  10. If you are with CPS you are directed to the waiting queues, you cannot drop your luggage off first, and would be of no benefit even if you could. However there are several smaller meet and greet companies that do enable you to bypass the queues and go straight to the drop off point to unload your luggage, the driver (or everyone) can then drive the short distance to the short stay car park where your M&G company will be waiting to quickly process your car, and you then walk the shortish distance back to the terminal to check in. The other major benefit is that their prices are well below CPS for those paying for parking, if you are on a select fare with free parking you need to compare prices and the amount of OBC if you don't take the free parking.
  11. Most of us live in the UK so we dont have this problem. Does your TA have an e-mail address, if so send her a message asking for clarification however if your balance is shown in dollars then I would guess your TA fixed a dollar price with P&O.
  12. The sterling price on the booking will be fixed and that is the amount you will be required to pay, but if your home currency is not sterling then of course that price will be affected by any currency fluctuations.
  13. ....and very often rose tinted.
  14. My late BIL had two Bernese, mother and son, and they were the most good natured of dogs.
  15. I know very little about operating a ship, but like driving a car although the principles are the same, each car has it's own handling characteristics. The different handling of a rear wheel versus front wheel drive is something that takes time and experience to be able to fully control. So I am assuming that Royal Caribbean bridge teams with over 25 years experience with azipods, will have gained more confidence in their capabilities than P&O with only 2 years, even though they will all be proficient in ships handling.
  16. Iona and Arvia do have the advantage of Azipods, which make them far more manoeverable. Independance of the seas is bigger than Azura/Ventura, but her Captain made docking in high winds look very easy. I am hoping that as P&O bridge officers become more experienced on the 2 new ships that the benefits of azipods will become more apparent, lers hope Iona has a much smoother summer in the Fjords than she did last year.
  17. Themed nights in Europe seem to have disappeared, probably because the majority ignored them anyway. Of more concern is the loss of themed evening dinners in the buffet, the Indian, Thai and Italian were favourites of ours.
  18. We missed Tobago on Arcadia back in 2006, and were nearly blown out of Civitavechia harbour while on Aurora in 2019.
  19. But Ionas draught is 11.8m, whereas Aidanova is only 8.8m, so there is more of Aidanova above sea level than Iona, which should makke it easier for Iona to pass under the same bridge,
  20. Just Arvia, however the funnel and all the satellite and radar navigation equipment is well above the rope walk. However its unusual for P&O to give any comment, other than operational reasons, when commenting about any cruising incident.
  21. It was yesterdays snow that hit our local Sainburys, they had very few regular deliveries, and todays JIT systems dont allow for any missing deliveries. Today the veg shelves were fully stocked again.
  22. But Iona has wardrobes with shelves, where you can stack clothes, and keep paperwork and your costume jewelry, I assume any expensive jewelry is kept in the safe. Or at least our accessible cabin had 2 wardrobes one with hanging, and the other with shelves, which was plenty of space for far more clothes than we had taken.
