  1. I have also read the same info about the reasons for the naming of Anderson's and Brodies.
  2. Possibly because fewer people are prepared to cruise on inside cabins.
  3. The age profile on Iona's current cruise is little different to our first P&O cruise in 2006, and most seem to be enjoying their experience. So if this continues I guess those who have been forecasting that P&O might struggle to fill the bigger ships could be proved wrong, despite no evening turn down, no afternoon tea in the MDR and entertainment aimed at a younger clientele.
  4. HoweverIf you open an account then you do bank with them, even if they are not your main bank.
  5. We are in Fuerteventura today and they now have a new cruise port set up to take ships up to Excel size. So clearly they believe it worthwhile to ensure they can cater for the new mega cruise liners, and I have no doubt there are lots of other ports with similar views. So it's possible the only losers will be those who are currently advocating extra restrictions. And local politics being what it is, once the coffers dry up, there could be new faces with different ideas.
  6. It's the same setup as Iona hidden in a dark corner, however in our accessible cabin the lighting on Iona is much better.
  7. We have done one Olive grove dinner on our Iona cruise so far, and the service was far better than in October, and it has been full every night as we passed it on our way from dinner. Similarly the MDR service has been much better than October.
  8. Theme nights seem to have disappeared, at least on european cruises, maybe they still have them on Caribean cruises, where outdoor evening entertainment is more likely.
  9. Agreed, I am all for any reasonable cost saving, any well run business should be applauded for their actions.
  10. Thinking of dodgy car electronics, my eldest son's Mitsubishi has a regular fault where it randomly chooses someone from his phone list to call. He has been waiting for the Honda dealership, who handle Mitsubishi cars, to locate and order a new unit, so far with little success.
  11. It must have been the dinner menu I was reading, I am fairly sure kids now have to pay for that.
  12. Kids no longer eat free at Premier inn.
  13. Other than priority loyalty boarding, P&O seem to allocate boarding times by deck, so it very likely you would receive the same time if your cabins are in the same location.
  14. My first weeks wage in 1960 as an office junior at the YEB was £4, 14s and 4p, from which I received 10s pocket money.
  15. I can think of much better ways for P&O to increase their spending on passengers, than to change the bed sheets more than once a week. Although I am intrigued as to which nocturnal activities Ardennais does on holiday, that needs regular fresh sheets. If there is extra money, let's have an improvement in food choice and quality, in the MDR, and lunch and evening buffet, much more worthwhile than an extra bed linen change.
  16. We have had Ambassador's Ambience in port with us yesterday and today in Madeira and Tenerife, just saying.
  17. We had priority boarding on Saturday and were directed down the side as we approached the security queue which only had a few people waiting. We however trudged all the way down to the very end of the security section, only to meet a rather ancient jobsworth who wanted to examine everyones boarding pass in minute detail, resulting in a long queue and a 15-20 minute wait. Then after our security we had to walk all the way back down because the exit to the ship was at the start of security. I suppose Paul Ludlow must have designed that feature. .
  18. Do you change your bedding twice a week at home? Not very environmentally friendly if you do, all that water and electricity being wasted!!!!!
  19. OK, same question do all the P&O ships fail the 0.1% level?
  20. But do any of P&Os ships currently fail this 1% test, or can they all comply, even if run on diesel oil?
  21. The Princess medallion system does enable you to communicate with other passengers, not sure how, but I can't see it being too difficult to do something similar on My Holiday,, but it would need an IT expert, something sadly lacking with P&O.
  22. You still can't, and you were close with the name, it's Voxens. We did hear them say that we would recognize all their songs, strangely enough we didn't recognise any!!!
