  1. But the top 2 decks should protect the ones below, as the canopies collect most of the soot.
  2. An excellent review, although I have only done one Iona cruise, I could feel myself agreeing with most of the comments you make. We rarely use the MDR at lunch, but from your comments we are missing nothing, however we did find that taste 360 in the Skydome and the Quays were a good choice for a light lunch, It was interesting to note your comment about The Olive Grove trying to switch to the virtual queue, that was a comment I made on our post cruise questionnaire. However we also noticed the brief appearance of the OG on the virtual queue in the early evening back in October, so nothing appears to have changed.
  3. If you lived far enough north to have to meet the coach at 7:00am about a 45 minute taxi ride away, and your wife was disabled and needed nearly 2 hours to get ready, then you might think differently.
  4. If this covers you for medical costs up to £2m, including repatriation etc, then why wont P&O accept it, in the same way they accept ours. We have sailed with our Canadian relatives from Southampton, on P&O and RCL, and I am fairly certain they used their Canadian travel insurance and did not have to provide anything extra.
  5. Yes, hot milk and bread, personally I prefer a sausage butty.
  6. I would hazard a guess that is because Cunard will have lots of passengers who are non Europeans, whereas P&O is virtually all Brits, so the ports probably use P&Os passport data.
  7. I agree with you, there is just no comparison between Celebrity's Murano and Epicurean. The latter is better than the P&O MDR, but if Murano is 5 star, then Epicurean is a poor 3.
  8. We also had Toulon replace Marseilles last year, so it would be nice to see Marseilles this year. However I would be quite happy to have Alicante replace Palma, there was only one accessible shuttle last year so we opted to go for a stroll from the port. But there is a very long trek to exit the port, and there is very little of interest nearby, and it was the time of the 40 degree heatwaves in Mallorca, so it turned out to be a boring trek in very hot weather.
  9. What do you do for insurance when cruising from the US? Does your usual medical insurance cover you for any emergency medical incidents, including helicopter evacuation and repatriation?
  10. I suspect that if your bookings are linked and you ask nicely, they will allow your sister to join you for the embarkation lunch, and she might even be allowed to have breakfast with you in the Epicurean.
  11. I agree with YorkshirePhil, we also booked a 35 nighter on board and only paid the £50 deposit.
  12. P&O do transfer your booking to the TA you booked with, but not certain whether you can switch from a direct booking to a TA.
  13. As well as the cancelled TA passengers, there will also be the first fly cruise that has also been cancelled, and since all these passengers wanted a Caribbean holiday then presumably it's far better to leave them to fight it out when the new TA goes on sale.
  14. Not seen him over on Princess either, he may be on holiday or serving time for another infringement.
  15. You will need to use the app, and activate the virtual bottle throwing feature.😁
  16. They are as far as the ship is concerned.😊😇
  17. That sounds like a good idea, now that Heinz have withdrawn their delicious Tomato and Basil soup, I will need something to give their current, rather bland, Tomato soup some zing.
  18. Then you possibly have much bigger problems to worry about, than finding the correct waste bin.
  19. I only use lea and perrins to flavour casseroles and the like, so I find supermarket own brand is perfectly acceptable.
  20. I think Moley said that some staff were furloughed, being part of the crew needed to maintain the hotel side of the ship for the officers needed to run the ships during covid, but clearly this was only a skeleton staff.
  21. Why, all cruise ships nowadays have been sailing for a few months, during sea trials before the official handover, so why does it matter when the naming ceremony takes place?
  22. Harry you are entitled to your views, but do bear in mind that if hotel staff had to be paid UK wage levels, then very view of us would be able to afford to cruise. Then of course you would be condemning these same staff you seek to protect to having to take jobs at local rates, if enough even existed. I think you need to take a much more pragmatic view.
