  1. Yes indeed but my post was referring to the pre covid era.
  2. The answer could be why book a holiday with P&O when you know they like to have at least one formal attire night every 7 days?
  3. No it used to drop off on some waste ground with the buses having to shuffle round after drop off to find a suitable position for the return pick up.
  4. I imagine it is the sunbeds around the outdoor pools which are difficult to find. But there are plenty of other sunbeds on the upper decks and on the promenade deck, assuming it is similar to Iona.
  5. Worldwide travel insurance with medical conditions can be up to 3 or 4 times as expensive as europe only.
  6. I have done it twice successfully, but we always book with a TA and both times we left it to them to sort out.
  7. We have had 3 summertime cruises to the fjords and the pools were well used, and anyway kids dont seem to feel the cold when they are enjoying themselves.
  8. I believe Aurora did have new widescreen TVs fitted in most cabins during its refit in 2018/9. But unfortunately not in the accessible balcony cabins.
  9. No but when they use Mayflower or QE2, they presumably have to pay Carnival a fee, as they manage these terminals and ABP, Fred's normal City terminal parking operator, do not offer parking for the Carnival terminals.
  10. Wowzz, We have a holiday cottage booked in Lincolnshire in May, a tiny village between Louth and the coast. What can you recommend for days out?
  11. I agree you Michelle Royal ships seem to be designed around young families, but still have plenty to please the adults. I think P&O missed a golden opportunity to include a Splash away Bay type kids water park on their 2 new ships.
  12. Moley, are P&O ever going to.undertake a full refurbishment of their older ships. RCI and Celebrity seem to lead the way in this field, and even Princess have sharpened up some of their older ships, but I cannot remember any such work being done on a P&O ship.
  13. Sorry we need an accessible cabin so need to book a select fare, and dont take any notice of the shuttle fare.
  14. You could easily manage a Canaries cruise without shuttles. Madeira is quite a walk maybe 15/20 minutes to the main promenade, the Lanzarote shuttle only shortens the walk into town by about 10 minutes and Lisbon is quite a pleasant 10 minute walk into the main tourist area. The rest are just a short stroll into the main centres .
  15. I assume so Wowzz, since so many cruise ports have gone out of their way to increase berthing size and capacity over recent years that I doubt that the trades that benefit the most from cruise ship tourists will just roll over and accept these restrictions forever. Western Europe is still mostly a democracy, and even local politics changes its stance over time.
  16. If you remember Bob, even before Covid they had started including the always available items on the main part of the menu, and they no longer called them always available, even though they were. I realise this is typical downward service creep, which happens everywhere, just like smaller Mars bars and mandarin sized Terry's chocolate oranges, but I don't see that advertising standards are pursuing any of these.
  17. I will no doubt make use of the medallion when we cruise, but really when paying for drinks it's not much difference to the waiters scanning your cruise card on their iPads, and probably no quicker. However the main issue I will have with it is the extension they have made for it to be used to undermine the very essence of "Anytime Dining". Princess and most other lines, seem to be selling this up as a major advance in providing us with a slick way to guarantee we dine when we want, where we want. When really all it is doing is enabling them to reduce the number of MDR covers and cut the number of waiters which only benefits the cruise line. I remember back when AD started, when there were more tables and waiters and you could turn up just when you wanted and be seated. Now it seems that most dining rooms have long queues, even if you have booked a time, and even longer waits if you haven't. To me this is rather like self check out supermarket shopping, where the only winner is the supermarket.
  18. I suspect you may be correct, however P&O would probably claim that the sample menu has not yet been updated by their IT dept, and since everyone who sails with P&O knows their IT dept is rubbish, they would have a good case.
  19. The coaches usually arrive about 2:00pm, so it is very busy around that time. If you arrive around 1:30pm you might find that embarkation is not too busy.
  20. It's interesting to read that P&O Australia will be adding water slides to the two Grand class ships they are receiving from Princess. I still think that with Arvia doing the Catibbean in winter and the Med in summer that P&O have missed a trick with her build.
  21. You were very lucky wowzz, when we visited on a private tour the place was dead and Catherine's beach bar was empty and the restaurant across the street was closed. I assume most of the patrons in your photo were from the ships tour?
  22. You're lucky our BG engineer condemned our gas fire, and when I asked for a 2nd opinion he turned up to ensure the second engineer didn't overrule him.
  23. In the rain on uneven pavements, and with several road junctions, not my ideal start to a holiday either.
