  1. So many choices, need to know way more about your likes. Personally I think Zoo is pretty much a whole day on its own.
  2. Haven’t been to Sesame’s for ages but never dissapointed
  3. So after an early start and a big chunk of the day at the hospital, Mrs G decided Harry’s would be a nice late lunch, wow it wasn’t that late but the bloke before us bought the last pie, we got the last spinach and feta roll and the last Pastie, The6 then pulled the shutters.
  4. Compared to freezing where you are.
  5. We have mainly cruised Princess, think it and Celebrity (3 to date) are very similar, have done one on NCL Jewel and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again. Have done Cunard, P&O, RCCL too. We enjoyed some parts of Norwegian Freestyle (mainly the range of restaurants to choose from) not some others (mainly that sometimes if you decided on that nights restaurant Lateish there would be some lengthy waits). NCL is probably a by mor modern that Princess, but then we prefer Wood and Brass to Chrome and Glass.
  6. Yeah but my missus is useless (well when she is on holidays has less grip on days of the week than I do.)
  7. I’m riddled with conditions, and for me December it too soon. A massive question is about insurance, can you get it, what it will or won’t cover and at what cost? We have book for March 2024 and have till Dec 2023 to cancel without penalty, I hope by then to have a better idea.
  8. I still shoot film from time to time, but can’t remember the last time I shot 35mm.
  9. Do they still make cash??? I constantly have to ask Mrs G what day it is, but then combine retirement with constant mini strokes and I think I have an excuse. All this week it has been “why aren’t all these kids at school?”
  10. Well in Tasmania in my opinion Port Arthur is a not to miss. But so much depends on what your interests are. Sydney the zoo is well worth a visit. We loved Picton, but others find it a touch quiet.
  11. There are some great power chairs out there that are, in my opinion, way easier to deal with than Scooters.
  12. The only essentials are some clothes (normally about 1/2 what you think), tickets and passport or ID, and medications. for me next comes camera, pen or highlighters, And of course Mrs Gut.
  13. Never seen any of those as essential, others see it differently of course.
  14. Wow so much sad news, sorry to hear of your loss Leigh, and the awful shooting in Canada (had to police officer friends involved in a dreadful shootout some years back, one survived (with bad PTSD in hindsight) the other didn’t, but had another crime scene officer friend end up in a bad way after attending a dreadful crime scene
  15. I’m a big fan of getting it right when I press the shutter button, even if it means having to wait for things to change, people to go etc, but also am old enough to remember spending hours in the darkroom, dodging, burning, tweaking contrast and exposure. Now it’s just done by computer
  16. Even in good times we have missed at least one port on half of all our cruises, so you could say cruising is always a bit of a lucky dip.
  17. For 4 nights look at serviced appartments, Adina, Oaks, Riverside have all been good in the past, or Station Pier Condominiums we’re great if you want something not so central but closer to the pier.
  18. There are a few more, though I’m not sure which are still open after Covid lockdowns, there was one just near Circular Quay Station, when in the clock tower shopping centre just up from the OPT, one at World Square, easiest way May be to Google and then contact those that look best for you.
  19. I am sure it did, I know it would me.
  20. I give the same advice every time, but it depends on your budget, time and money wise, fly into one, spend some land time, do a one way cruise, more land time at that end, fly home. Really it is the only option in my opinion.
  21. Sorry mate, hard for your grandaughter, I hate it every time, and am not sure I could do it myself.
  22. I’ve said “no more” a few times, once after we lost three Dalmatians in about 6 weeks, but always eventually say “I need another” I honestly can’t imagine life without my Max, but then often find myself flat on the ground, no one around, with only Max. A few weeks ago he stood over me, keeping the rain off my face while waited for help.
  23. Yeah Labs can be garbage disposal units and you need to be careful of their weight will really blow out, but no doubt your grandaughter keeps you all informed about all that.
  24. Ohhhh Uncle Les an Irish Wolfhound is one of my “I’d love one” dogs. But I expect Maxy will be my last.
