  1. We sailed into the tail end of a Cyclone(Monica) one April (2006) now that cruise had some rough seas, at least one night Mrs Gut and me were the only people in the MDR, that was on a small ship (Pacific Princess). Other times the sea has been like glass.
  2. First question? Are you a member of any loyalty schemes. second question? Where are you sailing from, ie which terminal White Bay or OPT. Third question? What do you hope to see and do. Fourth question? Your budget For the 5 nights I certainly support the suggestion of serviced appartments. For Hotels we really like The Grace it is fairly central, reasonably priced and the staff are great. We also like the Old Holiday Inn right at the OPT, but that is more a one night before our cruise spot.
  3. As you see some say yes, others no, it comes down to how risk ave4se you are, including the terms of your insurance, will they deny cover if they deem it an unreasonable time to book
  4. Sorry I thought you may have missed that
  5. Unfortunately Les lost his dear Mary a short while ago, so will be celebrating without her.
  6. Thank you, I like to check who is in Port the day before us and the day we depart.
  7. Welcome back. I have one booked but about 2 years out. Waiting to see what happens with protocols before I make a final call, and a few health issues to try and sort out. I think the Meat Pie thread is immortal now
  8. But Uncle Les still fills in for the loonies
  9. Not a big fan of pie face, but enjoy your trip and I hope you find lots of GF pies on the road.
  10. Yep no worries there will be Air Con.
  11. I only just saw this and wanted to add my condolences
  12. Because in Australia it is illegal to charge a compulsory gratuity on top of the cost of anything
  13. Yeah bit of a fan of Ridgy Didge, though when I had one a week or two back thought it wasn’t really up to scratch. We must live close to each other, we are in Ashtonfield.
  14. I was never a big fan of Darbys $1 pies but prefer a chunky pie to one with mince and would frequently get one of the $2 chunky and if we were having visitors a handful of their $1 cakes and slices went a long way, we’d cut them in half so folk could have a variety. Also their pasties were pretty good value, we go to Thornton a fair bit and pretty sure the pie shop these is now a Barrintons (well it was anyway) and everything I have had from them has been OK.
  15. Sounds nice, looking forward to hearing what you think has changed,
  16. As you ask “can we EASILY …” The answer is a resounding no. Is there a good chance of getting there in time, well my answer would by 50:50. Going by road? One broken down car, one minor collision and ooops, by train, one late train ooops. Me I hate stress when I’m on holidays, I’d either booker later or better yet stay over for an extra night in Sydney,
  17. Eggs Benedict if I can get it. But then that’s my favourite breakfast any times if it is done right, most cruises unfortunately over do the egg.
  18. Lots of Barrington Bakeries popping up, many in old Darby’s shops
  19. A Byron Bay organic Chunky steak pie from Oliver’s for lunch, not the worst pie I’ve ever had, but not the best either. ‘’Apple pie for afters tonight.
  20. Ribs and Burgers for us normally. Though we do tend to board early if we can and have a latish lunch on the ship.
  21. I dunno about that, been threaded with refusedboarding before today
  22. Similar to the itinerary we have booked in Match 2024 on Royal Princess. So will be following closely when your rolls around, been to all our ports, but one by car not cruise ship.
