  1. We were on for 2 weeks this past June/July. I did see soft serve in the buffet area when I walked through. We have over 60 cruises on Royal and have done 6 on MSC. We like MSC especially at the price of MSC cabins. Entertainment on Seashore was a lot better than Seaside, especially the shows in the cabaret rouge lounge.
  2. Good for him. He is definitely one of the stars that MSC has. Do you mind posting his FB name so we can follow him? Maybe next summer I will get to see him again in Europe.
  3. Just got off Seashore this past June-July on a B2B. Liked the Seashore YC pool deck better than Seaside. Food in restaurant was better also than Seaside IMHO. Though we missed Arthur for sure. From talking with crew that still keep in touch with him, he is now a dining room manager on Armonia. Our next sailing with MSC with be in June of next year out of Rome and Genoa. Hope our cruising paths cross again. You and your wife stay safe and happy cruising.
  4. When we were on Navigator this past March we went 1 hour ahead and then after the last port we gained the 1 hour back. Formal night was Day 2 and Day 6 of the 7 night cruise. We will also be on the Oct 14 7 night sailing also. Was able to get the UDP for about half price compared to what is on the cruise planner now. It was about $300 plus the 18% gratuity (about $54) Not bad as it came out to $117 a person (less than $17 a day) for the UDP. First time we have bought the UDP in all our cruises with Royal. Those with the UDP on Navigator this year, how did it work at Playmakers? Unlimited Dining Package Guests C, H, Frank Day 1 Time 06:00 PM $299.97
  5. RCL Pinnacle matches to MSC Diamond RCL Diamond and Diamond Plus matches to MSC Gold When we matched our D+ status in 2018 to MSC we were matched to Black (now called Diamond). I believe MSC stopped matching D+ to Black in 2020. We have sailed 6 times on MSC Yacht Club (just got off Seashore in July) and loved the experience and it is a great value compared to Sky class on Oasis class ships. Big difference in that newer MSC ships with YC enclave has a much larger suite lounge and Coastal Kitchen. I would say the food is better than what CK serves. I think the filet is better than CK and you can order it every night! Also getting the premium drink package included with your YC MSC experience is great. Now the standard blacony YC cabin is about the size of the JS on Royal. But the shower stall on MSC is only second to the Crown Loft showers on Oasis and Allure IMHO. Also you have access to a private YC pool deck with 2 large hot tubs, a full service bar and bar b que. Having pool chairs always available and not having to deal with chair hogs is priceless. Now we still cruise Royal and will be going on a B2B next week on Navigator. With MSC it is a nice change but we still love Royal. Now the main show on MSC is a lacking compared to the Royals shows. But I have found the other live entertainment like singers and piano players to be comparable to Royal. Enjoy your cruise and dont be afraid to try YC on MSC. You never know as you might really enjoy it.
  6. Good luck. I had a room for 4 in YC and my nephew could not make it. Tried to get money back(about $300 or so) on cruise and was told it will be handled by shoreside. 3 weeks after cruise and called about refund of taxes for no show. Was given an excuse and to call back. A month later called and was told that there would be no refund of port taxes and fees. I gave up and said the $150 or so for taxes is gone. I am still waiting for a refund for a no show due to covid on a recent cruise. It has been 2 months and MSC is telling me to give them some more time.
  7. I know you enjoyed your time in the Grand Villa....who wouldn't? Have a great cruise on Harmony. Your grand kids will have great memories from this trip. Did not know you were DVC members also. We have been since 2006 as first visit to WDW was in 2002. Did you make good use of the free passes for the first decade with every stay? Have a great time and hope our cruise paths (or WDW paths) cross again.
  8. I believe Buse was the Italian future cruise manager. She was on Seashore when we got off July 2.
  9. I can confirm there is no express YC option on Seashore. MSC has either disabled it or has not implemented it on Seashore. There is a place to tap your band on the touchscreen but it does not work. I have to admit to using the elevator override on Seaside a few times.
  10. Just sailed 2 weeks on Seashore a couple weeks ago. YC dining room food was better than CK and Chops on Royal. To be honest YC was even better than MSC specialty restaurant Butcher Cut. Never heard an announcement in our cabin in 15 days. Announcements have been cut down to English, French and Italian when we heard them on rest of ship. It was very relaxing dinner and after dinner cocktails with musicians playing either guitar or piano in the lounge.
  11. 500 nights with RCCL booking insides to crown loft suites. We have sailed with MSC 4 times in YC in their balcony suites YC1. The YC1 is about the size of a JS on RCL but there is no tub in the bathroom. the shower in the YC1 was second only to the showers in the CLS on Oasis and Allure (newer Oasis class ships have tubs in loft). The room is nothing special and the balconies are smaller than JS balconies on RCL. But the top sail lounge, YC restaurant, private pool deck with bar and grill cannot be beat by RCL. Coastal Kitchen and Suite lounge on Oasis class does not compare to MSC Seaside and Seashore YC areas and amenities. Deluxe drink package included with YC cabins. But the star is the YC areas and service. Sea class does not compare to MSC YC. The rooms are larger on RCL but so is the price tag. The amenities of YC make up for the smaller rooms and the pricing of MSC is the cherry on top. Just returned from 2 weeks on MSC Seashore and we would cruise more with MSC if they sail out of California. We have a B2B this coming Sept and Oct on Navigator out of long beach. We are in GS and VP rooms. The cost is more for the GS week than it is for YC1 for 7 nights. No drink package with RCL but we do get 5 drinks daily. Our family will cruise with either RCL or MSC but will only cruise with MSC in YC (no offense to anyone).
  12. Terrible rooms John! Why would you want to stay in a VP. Don't let the secret out John. I book these any chance I get. Love that the Navigator out of Long Beach has the VP rooms. I love the windows and being able to see the ocean go by without sweating. Can't wait to be back in that cabin in a couple months.
  13. They are on till the end of August. Was great watching them 3 or 4 times a week. Do not miss the shows in the Cabaret Rouge. Dancers and singers are very good.
  14. From a couple weeks ago on Seashore, butlers that know Arthur say he is now MDR manager on Virtuosa. He has been promoted twice from what I was told by a few that keep in touch with him. Arthur is truly the best waiter we have ever had in almost 80 cruises on RCL and MSC. Others are good but Arthur took it one step above and is the best.

    OBC

That is what our travel agent told us. Found out the 5th night of the first cruise, we had $800 OBC to use up as it was non refundable even though it was from travel agent. Just went to casino and loaded the rest of OBC into gambling account. Played a few spins and cashed out the rest. No problems and was relatively painless.

    B2B

Yes there was no charge for the B2B covid test administered by MSC.

    B2B

The B2B on June 25 , 2022 had about 8 guests from the YC and around 200 non YC waiting in the atrium. Had 2 butlers escort us through and back onboard. We sailed the same week of June 18. It was more crowded the second week of June 25. On that first week, we were some of the only guests in TSL in the evenings after 11pm.
  18. 2 large ones. One forward and one aft.
  19. No pool attendant was fine for me as I just use pool or hot tub. No need to suntan with my skin color.
  20. Just disembarked Seashore a few hours ago. It was a wonderful 2 weeks. This trip on Seashore was better than our last YC cruise on Seaside a few years ago. Staff was much more friendly and dare I say more attentive. The YC pool deck is larger with more space and 2 large hot tubs. One in the front of pool deck and one where the aurea 19 space used to be on Seaside. The pool is also better in that it starts at about 3.5 feet deepens to 5.5 feet deep. No longer need to tread water to stay cool. One thing I missed is the pool attendants setting up your chairs. No longer the case on Seashore. But drink and food service on pool deck was excellent.
  21. Yes we got 6 chocolate ships 6 MSC backpacks (which are surprisingly large), 4 bottles of spumante and a specialty tasting menu each week. MSC extended MSC Status for an extra year. The food in Seashore YC restraunt superior to Butchers cut and Ocean Cay was bad. Found Seashore YC restraunt better than Seaside. She had clams and linguine and she said it was not good. Left a tip for waitstaff and came up to Topsail and had dinner with son and I. She loved the cheesecake at Ocean Cay seafood restaurant. Another couple we met, will be on the Seaside for the OCT cruise. Wish we were coming but have to use up FCC on Royal. From what I understand, a lot of YC staff will be reporting to Sescape in preparation of her sailing to New York. Have a fun cruise!
  22. Good choice. I like to be closest to the top sail lounge. When are you going? It was a great 2 weeks on Seashore. YC exceeded my last cruise on Seaside. Met many more Americans than 4 years ago on Seaaide. Staff is outstanding and accommodating. Food was amazing though a little repetitious. You two have a great cruise. Will see you on a future cruise.
  23. The light show is just OK. I would not book my room to view the show. Watched it from the starboard side bridge wing even though we have cabin 16010. Do not think you will hear any traffic as their is a separate hallway for the rooms and hallway to the dining room. Will check for sure on deck 19 but that is how it is on deck 16. One hallway for people walking to topsail lounge and another hallway behind glass to access the cabins on that floor. I like to be near top sail lounge so everything is close.
