    There are several reasons rooms can appear at the last minute. None of it for evil reasons.

    Depending on our ports of call (and the types of stores at those stops) we ask crew members if there's any snacks we can bring them from X port.

    I can think of one cruise where I saw all elevator buttons pressed. And the rest of those things? Pretty harmless.

    I would imagine most people booking have no idea about the desirableness of the cabin they pick. They're more likely just to look at a deck plan and pick a room based on location to something important to them.

    Last I saw they changed the fine print to where it was no longer feasible to use it as a quasi day pass.

    2pm is easy. You'll actually find yourself trying to find ways to pass time. My last cruise out of MCO I had an 11:22am flight and still had plenty of time to wait at the airport.
