  1. Can't help too much, but on another well known SM page there is lots of information about getting refunds.
  2. Not sure if that applies to the "budget" end of the market.
  3. And therefore not subject to taxation ! M'lud, the case for the prosecution rests.
  4. OP is from the UK. In the past you could roll over unused time when you renewed your UK passport, but you can no longer do this. However there are passports out there that are seemingly valid for, say, 10 years 5 months. But, the final 5 months is not accepted by many countries, only the 10 years from the date of issue of the passport. Hope that is as clear as mud !
  5. That seems like a good compromise, even to an old curmudgeon like me !
  6. That I can understand, but showing a movie, at full volume at 11am , with no one watching ? Why bother ?
  7. Yup, I was completely wrong about VS ! You get a free bar on TUI charters, so in principle you should also get one on VS .
  8. Just received an email from Saga. Do I want to book a 21 day trip around Africa, by private jet ? You bet I do. Lead in price is £39,999 pp ( don't you love it when they drop £1 off, so as to make the trip look more affordable!) Looks like I need to buy a lottery ticket for Saturday - or should I buy two to make sure of winning ?
  9. Agreed. I can understand the attraction of watching a film in the evening, but do we have to endure the over amplified sound for the entire day ? Does anyone actually enjoy it ?
  10. I'd be booking that now - fantastic price!
  11. The problem with those itineraries is that you still have the three day slog out of, and back to, Southampton, with no doubt yet another visit to Gib included ! Just nice to fly out to the ship and do away with those six sea days.
  12. I've never experienced shoreside security examine the medallion closely enough to read my name or ship name. I just show my wrist band holder, and get waved through.
  13. And I'm sure they add on the appropriate VAT !
  14. We sold my wife's beloved Fiat 500 late last year, through an online dealer. Take any estimate from an online firm with a large pinch of salt, especially "we buy any car".
  15. Try the UK ports of call forum for lots of advice on this. The cheapest, and also very convenient connection, is on National Coaches from Victoria coach station.
  16. Actually you would hope that for part of the year, at least, she would not be based in Southampton, in order to at least have some Eastern Med cruises.
  17. Given the choice of TUI PE from BHX, or Virgin PE (on an A350) from LHR, I'd be choosing VS every time. But, knowing my luck, I'd end up flying from LGW with TUI.
  18. Vamps - thanks for coming back to us. With regards to selling the car, a bank transfer has to be the way to go, if selling to a private individual. I'm assuming you are not selling an old banger for a few hundred quid, so anyone who wants to pay you thousands of pounds in cash, needs to be treated with extreme caution. Without being alarmist, if you accept a large amount of cash, from an unknown individual, you could be breaking various money laundering laws.
  19. Is there anyway of finding out in advance if your flight will be on Virgin ?
  20. Cheapest price for us Brits is £600 ($720) for an inside, and £700 ($840) for a balcony. The UK prices include taxes of around $110, so probably not too much difference. The cost of adding Princess Plus would be the same as the cost of a balcony cabin ! Unbelievable prices really - I should have been keeping an eye on the fares. The downside is that airfares can be expensive for last minute bookings. And yes, we can buy FCDs, and shareholder obc. Casino fares however, do not seem to be a Brit thing, neither does large amounts of obc from TAs.
  21. Excellent advice. Fully refundable reservations are the way to go, but in any case, I wouldn't be booking anything until a lot later this year.
  22. I'm looking forward to 11:23 tomorrow night, using the 24 hour clock. 23.23.2.3.23
  23. That may well be the case. We book balconies or minisuites, so normally no problem with availability. As a Brit, we can only refare once, at a cost, so have to be fairly confident about when to book. We certainly aren't booking any Princess cruises for 2024. The prices are stupidly high already ! Bound to come down over the next few months, as they have in the last few years.
