  1. We most always sail in February out of Fort Lauderdale. Minnesota spring break is generally close to Easter. This year it's the second week in March. If you are coming from New York, you should probably consider coming in the day before the cruise. You can generally get a hotel room close to port for under $200. It won't be luxurious but for one night you should be fine. I wouldn't worry about crowds to terribly much. If it's a warm weather cruise most people will be outside. There's a Sun Princess cruise i(I think Feb 9) 7 day. Interior room for 2 people around 1900. Balcony around $1000 more. EZ air has prices from NY on Jet Blue for 2 people at 865.
  2. I know this sounds stupid, but what is the web address? Not sure how to access it.
  3. I like Reserve dining the most because you need no reservation, usually no waiting, great staff, and no need for reservations. It is only available for lunch on sea days. Breakfast and dinner is available every day.
  4. In order to get either the plus or premiere packages, the first two people in the booking must get the identical package. Plus is $60 a day and Premier is $90. Plus package includes up to 15 alcoholics drinks per day wine- beer, alcoholic. No limit to coffee (specialty coffees, bottled water, canned soda, tips, wi-fi (one device per package), 2 casual dining meals (pizzeria, Irish Pub, Sushi, 2 specialty desserts, per day, 2 fitness classes per day, free Medallion shipping (not sure but I don't think this applies to UK cruisers), juice bar, complimentary ocean now delivery (think room service). If you want wi-fi, tips prepaid, alcohol, specialty coffee, water this is for you. Most alcoholic drinks are between 12 and 15 dollars which does not includes automatic 18% gratuity. Specialty coffees run around 4 or 5 dollars and 18% gratuity. Bottled water is 2 to 3 dollars. One device wi-fi 25 a day (if elite this is reduced by 1/2. So, if you like to have 3 or more drinks a day this may be for you. I know that others will disagree with me but I like the plus package. Takes all the worry out of a large bill at the end of the cruise. You can, if you want, go to guest services and have the tips removed from your bill. You are billed daily for each person in the cabin. $18 for full suites, $17 for mini-suites, and $16 for all other cabins.
  5. Small warning - flight times are sometimes changed and sometimes you aren't notified. Be sure and check your airline to make sure you have correct info. Has happened to me twice.
  6. OP - We are desperately trying to cancel our upgrade bid for our cruise in just over a month’s time. For the last 10 days have been getting this message: “oh no, you’re out of luck. It seems like we can’t find any offers at this moment, please try again later.” I have gotten this same message. You may also try using the web version of Princess. Actually, it may be better to use the chat feature and then you may have a record of your declination of bid and cancellation of cruise.
  7. You are able to bring on soda and or water for the kids. Also, as far as Wi-Fi goes, they can always sign on as you on their own devices for no extra charge - you and your husband have 2 wi-fi (one for each of you) with the plus package.
  8. What transportation did you use getting to the airport from the pier.
  9. We have same question. Delta changed our departure time from 2:40pm to 11:55AM. Can we make this flight from Galveston port to IAH.
  10. I have same question - our flight leaves at 11:55AM out of IAH
  11. If you wish to dine in any of the specialty restaurants you may want to reserve them ahead of time. The Catch by Rudy is very nice. Also Enchanted has the 360 experience and is a little costly but well worth it. Crown Grill and Sabatini's are also on Enchanted. Sometimes you can go to these restaurants as a walk-in but no guarantee they will have a space for you. Enchanted id a beautiful ship. Enoy your cruise.
  12. The people who don't wish to get a passport in the US would be very low. I really don't know anyone who has resisted getting one. Not sure anyone truly knows how many people resist. These generalities slay me. Cruise Critic only represents a very small number of cruisers.
  13. I've had difficulty getting on to the website also. This has been going on for at least 2 weeks. Trying to book a cruise and right up to choosing cabin it notifies me to try again later. Not sure if this applies to all PVP's but mine was unable to book a cabin and said she would keep trying. I wonder how many customers they will lose over this.
  14. O'Malley's Irish Pub is slated to be on Star. Kai Sushi (not sure how it differs from Ocean Terrace Sushi. Alfredo's Pizzeria is also supposed to be one of the other casual dining.
  15. I was on that same cruise. Lines were immense, it was hot. Port people didn't seem to know what to do. They were, however, really nice. Waited in line for at least 2 hours. I arrived at port around 10 AM. Debarking was a breeze.
  16. Probably better off getting plus package for 60 a day. This would cover each person's crew appreciation, wi-fi, all soda, smoothies, coffee, specialty coffees, hot cocoa, water, 2 casualty dinners, 2 specialty deserts per day, fitness classes, room service delivery, ocean now delivery. If all you need is soda's I suggest each person bring a 12 pack of soda and/or water board. Plus Beverage Package Includes: 76.99 per day Cocktails, wine by the glass, beer, specialty coffees fountain sodas, bottled water, fresh juices and healthy smoothies (juice bar), new juice bar, mocktails and crafted cocktails by Mixologist Rob Floyd 50 spirits, 25 wines by the glass, 25 beers, all specialty coffees & non- alcoholic drinks 25% discount on wine bottles (including rare vintages) 25% discount on large bottles of water and cans of soda Plua Package 60.00 per day Wi-Fi (1 device per guest) Crew appreciation Plus Beverage Package (drinks up to $15 each) Unlimited juice bar Premium desserts (2 per day) Fitness classes (2 per cruise) NEW 2 casual dining meals per guest NEW OceanNow® delivery NEW Room service delivery
  17. I would also advise you do this through a Princess Vacation Planner or, a local TA, or you may want to try local big box store. I've had good luck with the big box store and also a Princess vacation planner. Are you and your wife in one cabin and your brother in another? You may want to book a balcony cabin and an interior cabin. You would be charged a solo supplement if only one in cabin. Also there are balcony and mini suites where three of you could book and third passenger fee would be a lot less than booking for one solo. Just a thought. Also, if only 2 of you want the Princess Plus for drinks, etc. you could book the two who wanted the Plus package as the first two passengers and the one not a drinker as the third passenger. Having an actual local travel adviser may be your best bet. Our auto club also does reservations and gives great advice.
  18. We participated in this. It was fun. They actually had people on board from Guiness. I seem to remember that there were three Princess ships involved. I think we were on Enchanted.
  19. I sailed on the Enchanted for 30 days in February/March this year. I really enjoyed her. We did do the 360 experience and it is well worth the experience. O'Malley's was great but almost impossible to get in (they didn't take any reservations). We also did Ruby's (twice) and loved it (we're from Minnesota and don't see a lot of fresh seafood here). We also liked Sabatini's which we felt was much better than the crown grill. Casino was small and smoky. Staff was beyond excellent. Ship was clean and well maintained. We did have a couple of missteps with being charged for items we did not buy but it was taken care of right away. Embarkation and disembarkation were a breeze. Drinks in Good Spirits were really good.
  20. I'm so happy to see this posting. I am on board Emerald in two weeks. What is the Silverado lunch? Sounds interesting. Enjoy the rest of your cruise.
  21. Wonder if ticketed and paid if airline would permit you to change to an earlier/later flight? Delta allows me to change flights I've booked directly with them for no charge.
  22. Enchanted has the 360 experience.
  23. You can always get cash up to $1000 a day in casino and they will charge it to your room. No fees. We generally only use cash when tipping on the ship. Most places in Caribbean accept credit cards.
