  1. Ship excursions take care of the transport for you and sometimes the ferry even leaves from the downtown Charlotte Amalie rather than Red Hook. Both Magens Bay and Sapphire Beach may be a better fit for you. You would need to check the ferry schedule, but the Water Island ferry leave from a bar just to the right of the Crown Bay port (last ferry back is 6:15, $15 roundtrip cash only). Ten minutes to the island, walk up and over a small hill and you are on Honeymoon Beach. Very sheltered bay, lots of trees, and quiet except on weekends. We have been there where the only other people were a couple of guys stocking the bar.
  2. And the app won't allow booking two sessions of the same show.
  3. The luggage bins they put suitcases in are loaded to around 8' high. Have seen luggage fall off the top onto the pier when the tractors round a corner. Of course it isn't a big loss if the lawn chair is damaged, but ones on the bottom could puncture a soft-side suitcase.
  4. Hobby airport is 41 miles from the port and around a 45 minute drive with no traffic. Add at least another 30 minutes to Bush. We have gotten on ship transfers as early as 8 AM (bus almost full, so it left within 5 minutes).
  5. We went from the Leonardo to the farthest east berth 39 for 10 pounds. But the pre-reserved cab was 45 minutes late and we could have walked that in 20 minutes. You may have better luck with cabs since you are very close to the train and bus station. Looks like Apex is at berth 102 in the City Cruise Terminal, which is probably a 10 minute walk from your hotel. You probably can't walk direct (according to Google map) but will probably need to go to port gate 10. Your hotel is northwest of the mall. By the way, the West Quay Mall adjacent has a ton of food outlets. https://southamptonvts.co.uk/admin/content/files/PDF_Downloads/Southampton Map 2014.pdf
  6. Even if you need two internet connections, a one person/two device plan is usually cheaper than buying two single person plans. And with the Key you will be buying that. Key has to be bought for all guests in the room. Will you use other features, like priority time on the flowrider?
  7. It IS worthwhile to take inflatable chairs or noodles for water use, though. We do large noodles and have seen many folks with floating chairs.
  8. In our case, the bus only stopped at the lower parking lot (near the gift shop). If you wanted to walk to the upper lookout you had to walk both ways. Lower is actually in the gorge. You might want to compare tours with Iceland Everywhere. Smaller group (our Princess tour had 21 full-size buses) and cheaper. Tours both in Akureyri and Reykjavik.
  9. The ones I have booked with both OBC and credit card get OBC back immediately and credit card refund in a few days. Last one of these was a few weeks ago. Note that you should NEVER book and pay for more than one at a time. Book one, check out completely, then book the next.
  10. Since you mentioned Stonehenge, fly in two days early and stay in Southampton (We use the Leonardo Royal Grand and eat mostly at the mall). Walk 15 minutes to the train station on the other side of the mall and take a westbound train to Salisbury (around 20 minutes). Get off and the HOHO bus leaves from the train station basically on the hour (book online in advance, with Stonehenge bus access). Ride bus to Stonehenge, then park bus to the stones. Very easy to do.
  11. I had a similar problem a few years ago. Turned out the app required a password with a special character in it and the web site didn't. Changed my web site password and then I was able to use the app.
  12. If you have an outdoor store like Cabelas in your area, go there and tell the clerk what you are looking for. We wanted lightweight binoculars for our granddaughters for an Alaska cruise. Better ones tend to be expensive and heavy. We actually bought two 10x50 Vortex Diamondback for them for around $130 each less a lot of discounts (new account, Monday, new member). Same brand as we own. Lifetime guarantee and repair. But other brands were as low as $80 and some over $3000 (those were fantastic but weighed a ton). Store had about 50 types in stock so lots of choices. Puck a few in your price range and try them in the store.
  13. Odyssey has them in the orange sphere next to the flowrider. No longer used for bungee VR.
  14. Our preferred spot is the bar area above the solarium. Usually a couple of rows up there. Only works on ships that don't have a restaurant above the Solarium Bistro. Depending on ship direction and if you like more noise and wind, the deck above the pool may have some shade for part of the day. Running track may be shaded on one side, although depending of direction that can be the smoking area..
  15. Since the only alcohol they can sell must have Texas tax stamps, my guess is that they didn't want to deplete the onboard stock after leaving Texas waters.
  16. In Alaska you can also check out Pendleton-style blankets for use on the ship. Same as towels - they must be returned at the end of the cruise. We haven't tried the purchased ones yet since we really don't want to mess with adding them to luggage for flights.
  17. Cruise excursions are booked with the Cruise Planner, and it knows what age you are at the time of the sailing. It won't allow booking anyone that is in violation of the age limits. Have seen a couple of times where an age limit existed that disappeared later (after I had booked an excursion with independent providers).
  18. You can also try the trick of editing your C&A or Captains Club account number and resaving. Might resync the systems.
  19. On the Odyssey TA this wasn't exactly the trash, but this sculpture is around 15' off the floor in the aft elevator. A lot of them disappeared about 2/3 through the cruise - not sure how they got them down.
  20. Just back from Odyssey. No indoor pool (small 3' deep ones in Solarium). iFly and Northstar are free in port (get reservations once onboard in the app). Both cost while sailing for longer experience. In our case both were cheaper once you got onboard than booking in advance. iFly in advance was was $34-$50, onboard was $24. Staff great and Windjammer pretty good food. Had one day with four kinds of carved meat at lunch. Seating often available far aft when front parts are full. Also, hot oatmeal/raisin and coconut cookies at front of Windjammer next to the hard serve ice cream.
  21. Yup but interesting that onboard ifly is 24 and Northstar 19, both cheaper than all sale prices in the Cruise Planner.
  22. Good point. Just because offer is for an inside you can upgrade to higher cabin or combine offers from two people. Have to call - not possible with link.
  23. Problem with goport is their pickups are some airport hotels and airport. We rented car for days in Orlando and used Gosport after turning car in. You can also rent car and drop off near Port and reserve Gosport for trip back to airport if you want to avoid pickup hassle at cape when ship returns. See the Orlando board for lots of advice.
  24. Actually got it for this cruise. Even following link from notification I haven't gotten to the questions for last six cruises.
