  1. reminds me of seinfeld every time I hear about write offs. I’d rather not lose the money to begin with!
  2. I don’t generally put money into individual stocks or securities like $CCL or BTC. Everyone should invest in what they feel comfortable with and what works for them.
  3. There is a Dash bus that runs along Meeting/King streets, and has stops at Meeting/Market and at Waterfront Park, both not far from the cruise terminal. https://www.ridecarta.com/route/211-meeting-king-dash/
  4. Yes every time my wife and I drive to the port, we pick a later arrival time. It is nice to cruise right through the embarkation process, almost without stopping. There really isn't much to do on the ships before the sail away party other than eat and walk around, so unless we're in town early (when we fly into Miami for example) we would just as soon arrive later.
  5. Maitre D's are no longer accessible via email. I'm sure the email addresses are still out there for most of the ships but I would doubt that those email addresses are monitored anymore. Best bet is to go to the MDR entrance on embarkation day, the Maitre D is there to take special requests and dining arrangement changes at that time.
  6. Anyone can sail on Ultra cruises (they're not full ship charters or anything like that) but only those booked under the Ultra offer get to participate in the drawings, prizes, etc.
  7. The thing with buying individual stocks is you could lose your entire investment the next day. As long as you’re okay with that possibility, knock yourself out and enjoy the shareholder benefits as long as the last!
  8. I agree, it's nothing new for him though.
  9. It costs them enough to take it away from some of their most loyal guests - casino players. So it's a matter of time as I see it.
  10. He answered the question asked, sadly. I think your outrage is misplaced - the asker is the one who tried too hard to be snarky and asked the wrong question.
  11. Yes you can ask the maitre d in the dining room when you board. They will do their best to accommodate. Be forewarned that early dining is probably the most popular dining choice, so it might not be possible for you to have a private table. And many of the 2-top tables are literally inches apart so there isn't a great deal of privacy anyway. But they'll do their best.
  12. And as I said, the only path forward is reorganization.
  13. That's nothing - let me tell you about the bacon crisis...
  14. I really would just bring extra cash. They can buy whatever they may want with that.
  15. Never ending excuses work for politicians maybe, but thankfully the invisible hand of the market has a strong nose for BS and $CCL's trajectory reflects that.
  16. Cry me a river. If wishes and buts were candy and nuts.
  17. Guest capacity between those two ships is substantially the same, so which would you rather be on? Me - the larger one, even though it is larger - much more space per passenger!
  18. Sure but you are making it sound like the discounting they did 3 years ago is why they are still unprofitable today. If they are unable to make a profit today, after the discounting and OBC giveaways have been over for years - then their debt service is too high to be sustainable in their industry. The only path forward is reorganization.
  19. the company predicted profitability over a year ago. They haven’t given all that OBC or the extreme discounts for years either, that was pretty much only during the pause to keep people from asking for refunds as cruises were cancelled.
  20. I have never seen it so that you can only book guarantee rooms. Carnival's booking engine absolutely encourages guarantee rooms, but for a test cruise on Mardi Gras I was able to go back and pick a different rate code so I could pick my own room (at a higher rate).
  21. Seems that this person has selective hearing syndrome. Nobody is suggesting they will be refused entry into the MDR but yet they seem intent on being defensive as to their casual dress. NOBODY CARES.
  22. The ship hasn't sailed for Carnival yet so there's not really any way we can answer this intelligently.
  23. Guests can no longer email Maitre D's.
  24. Check in is not the same as boarding. It is normal for them to check in passengers before boarding begins. They have a waiting area in the terminal. Boarding typically begins around 11:00 with wedding parties then VIFP preferred/FTTF/suite guests. They probably say 12:30 in their email to give some margin in case of a delayed arrival, delayed customs clearance, etc.
  25. If they're not profitable in this revenge travel bubble, they will never be profitable again without reorganization.
