  1. Some hotels may still offer stay and cruise packages. Otherwise you can just ask the hotel if you can keep your car there and arrange a ride on your own. Or you can park in any of the downtown decks but I believe the daily rates in them are basically the same as the terminal. To me the terminal parking is worth it because it is secure. If you or anyone in your cruise party has a handicap placard then parking at the terminal is free provided they are in the car with their placard.
  2. That's one thing I've always liked about Charleston - the parking is fenced (with barbed wire) and patrolled property. The worst I've heard of is a dead battery. This article also talks about the security guards hitting the gas instead of the brakes and damaging cars. Norfolk certainly has to tighten up their operations, they can be in high cotton in 2024 when the Charleston port closes but they've got to get these fundamentals battened down.
  3. Sunshine as well - Jijis serves Mongolian Wok for lunch, included.
  4. Keep in mind rooms are ready at 1:30. Either time will work, it will probably take 30 minutes to go through parking and security so by the time you board your room will be ready.
  5. This is the new Carnival, if they removed the statue they could easily put at least one or two staterooms there. I get the sense that Carnival isn't going for a Sunshine-level transformation here. So I expect they don't want to go through the ordeal of cutting a hole in the side of the ship to remove this figure.
  6. The link in my first post on this thread goes over how to purchase distilled water.
  7. It's a shame the $6 blackjack/fun21 tables are a thing of the past. That will cut out a lot of casual players I imagine, or greatly limit their length of play. I wonder if they're increasing minimum bets on the slots too?
  8. Yes you can order distilled water through room service. As I recall they're $4 per gallon. You can also carry on a sealed bottle of distilled water with your CPAP machine. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3372/~/cpap-machines
  9. I have seen $10 Blackjack tables from time to time. I can't recall how they differ from the $6 or $25 tables however. I'd imagine there are differences in the rules or payouts but I'm not sure what they are. Fun21 is $6 minimum, pays 3:2 and is my preferred game incidentally.
  10. It varies from table to table, $6 or $25 is usually what I see. The table minimums and maximums are posted at each table.
  11. One of Carnival's biggest issues, and it's been going on for years, is they refuse to handle issues like this. Just as one example more and more people are smoking on their balconies (I can smell it coming up from the balconies when on Lido) and not just tobacco either. And Carnival does nothing about it. I think it's doing major damage to their brand.
  12. To put it simply. All push notifications on iPhones go through Apple's servers. And since Carnival wants guests to be able to get notifications from their Hub app, they have to allow access to Apple's notification servers. That means notifications (and usually, iMessage) works whether or not you pay for WiFi.
  13. As 1025cruise is hinting at, simply booking your flights through Carnival isn't a replacement for travel insurance. Travel insurance could be covering this trip interruption without needing to resort to pleading your case to some anonymous email address that goes into the abyss at Carnival.
  14. I love that "CAT CAT CLUB" neon sign on Ecstasy.
  15. A nurse writing legislation for nursing is somehow better than a lawyer writing legislation for the legal profession? Seems to be two sides of the same coin to me. Both can be bad or good depending on the legislation.
  16. Mine is not this brand but it looks very similar. Actually I bought mine at Aldi. It fits easily in my carry on bag. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Honeywell-Air-Circulator-Electric-Whole-Room-Table-Fan-Terracotta-HPF820FWM/876314832?athbdg=L1600 It's too big to fly with and I have not found a suitable fan for carrying on when flying. Generally when we fly we just ask the steward for a fan when we meet them on the first day.
  17. I am choosing to believe that their staffing issues are temporary but many of the other post-covid "changes" that are being blamed on COVID and staffing and moon cycles and whatever else they want to blame it on will be permanent I think.
  18. I could make my deposit with Carnival and then transfer the booking to the TA I suppose, but once my bookings are in my TA's hands they only take Visa or Mastercard. I will say the value of booking with my TA outweighs discounts from buying gift cards.
  19. I love the Ecstasy, I've been on newer and bigger ships but for me personally I'd just as soon be on the Ecstasy as any of them. It's sad she will be gone in just a few months but such is progress. These ships aren't museums and time marches on.
  20. Glad this method works out for you. It is a good way to save some money. Since I book with a TA generally, I can only use Carnival gift cards onboard and I don't usually spend enough to make it worth the effort.
  21. I wonder if they'll even bother to replace the funnel. Will they just tattoo Carnival to the ship's hull like they did to the Fantasy class years ago before they started getting their remodels?
  22. Carnival stopped requiring masks I believe back on May 1. And yes I fully agree - they aren't doing anything to curb smoking in the casinos. It's supposed to be only for those actively playing and only at designated tables/machines. It was almost better back when the Casino bar was still a smoking area, at least they congregated there. The staff shortages that Carnival is ignoring will end up doing a lot of damage to their brand I fear. But that is for them to worry about, not my ball of wax.
  23. Fans aren't prohibited. I always carry a desk fan on, at least when we drive to the port. Flying is another matter, takes up too much space.
  24. The cook to order aspect is why the line is long. Same with the omelettes in the morning. Maybe what they should do is similar to how Cucina works for lunch - write out your order and get a pager and pick it up once it's ready.
  25. At least on iPhones - Carnival can't block notifications from working for apps, otherwise you wouldn't get notifications from their own app.
