  1. Tender ports will no longer exist to the mainstream lines within a decade or so. The future of cruising with the mainstream lines is proprietary and captive ports like Half Moon Cay, Perfect Day, etc. All of your spend goes through the cruise line from the moment you embark until the moment you debark.
  2. Expect nothing aside from the new red white and blue hull livery. That way when that’s all that is done, you won’t be disappointed.
  3. Yep, the flights are what is keeping me on this continent and coast for now! Eep.
  4. Food is very important on cruises because unlike any other vacation, you can't just drive down the street and get takeout if the food is bad.
  5. Nope, only Vista class and newer.
  6. Yes handicap parking is free in SC as long as the handicapped person is in the car. When you check in online you will choose a port arrival appointment. If you arrive at the pier outside of that time, you will be waiting outside until they process everyone who arrived on time. Cabins are ready usually around 1:30.
  7. the bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten
  8. In my experience even if you do ask for evening service on Carnival, they no longer turn down the bed. They make it up obviously but don't turn it down anymore.
  9. Parties are one thing - fights and drugs are something entirely different.
  10. I get that but to me that all takes maybe an hour or two and if you embark at 11AM you've got probably 5 hours of not much going on before sail away. Each to their own!
  11. I don't know which deck the handicapped embark on, but standard embarkation is lobby deck 3.
  12. The sad reality is if Carnival cared they would have already done this because they can do these things without a drydock.
  13. The ship will begin boarding when it is cleared by Customs, if you arrive too early you will be sitting around a lot it doesn't matter if you're in a suite or not. What's wrong with arriving at 10:30 like your arrival appointment says? And once you get on the ship you'll be sitting around a lot because there really isn't anything happening on the ship until at least 1:30 when the cabins (yes including suites) are ready.
  14. Carnival does charge more gratuities for suites, so in a way they do charge based upon service. Even though they don't do anything extra at all for suites anymore.
  15. They basically are undercooked cake 🙂 if they are fully cooked they're no longer melting 😞
  16. Wedding parties are first, they're going to beat you to the rice and beans on the buffet.
  17. There is a lot of people speculating and spitballing here and on facebook etc. Please do not repeat that speculation and spitballing as fact. There is absolutely no proof to the assertion that they're removing the IMAX theater.
  18. I don't even stay up to midnight for new year's anymore, I check in in the morning when I get up and I am usually able to have my choice of check-in slots. The absolute earliest slot may be gone, but usually it isn't. Like @Essiesmom said, if you're going on a Journeys cruise you should try to do midnight if getting the first slot or two is important.
  19. Points at the tables aren't the same points as on the slots is my understanding.
  20. https://help.goccl.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/784/kw/VS 12201 and 12203 balcony partitions can be opened.
  21. You can purchase the Value or Premium plans for 24 hours at a time but I don't recall the prices, if you don't want it for the whole cruise. You can only buy the 24 hour pass once onboard. But usually if you want it for more than 24 hours, you might as well go ahead and buy it for the whole cruise.
  22. Only available for longer cruises and they've really jacked the price on the bottles as well.
