  1. I wish someone would try to make me delete a video I took on my phone. They're more worried that potential cruisers will see what is really happening on the ships on Tiktok. Once you're on the ship and it is clear you've entered the wild wild west of drugs fights and misbehaving kids it's too late.
  2. Yeah I am sure the ability to drop off stuff was just there to soften the blow of losing early stateroom cleaning. It'll be next on the chopping block.
  3. prepare for the worst and hope for the best. short holiday cruises are rough on Carnival right now.
  4. Handicap accessible doesn't necessarily mean scooter accessible. As you discovered HMC requires wheelchairs, they recommend sand wheelchairs which you can rent from Carnival for the day because the sand on HMC is very soft and a regular wheelchair or scooter can't drive through it. Grand Cayman should accommodate scooters no problem though. Not sure about Belize.
  5. Any serious cruiser owes it to themselves to cruise to the Bahamas, just like they owe it to themselves to cruise out of Miami. It's kind of like a rite of passage to have a bracelet put on your wrist without permission in Nassau.
  6. Just keep in mind whatever you leave in your cabin will be there wide open - the stewards leave the cabins open when they're cleaning as you probably know. So put it in the wardrobe or something so it's out of sight. Maybe let the steward know as well so they don't think it was something left behind by the previous cruiser.
  7. You'll be able to drop off your carry-on in your cabin but no longer will your room be ready at embarkation. You are allowed to drop off your carry-on in your opened and unlocked cabin and immediately leave the stateroom corridor and go back up to the public areas of the ship. Carnival got rid of the perk of having your room ready at embarkation.
  8. My guess is since you're not a gambler or a drinker, you're exactly the kind of person Carnival wants to get rid of. Please don't take that the wrong way, it's nothing personal. It's just business - Carnival wants people who will spend hundreds if not thousands once onboard on drinks, gambling, spa treatments, bingo, etc...
  9. If Carnival's problem really is they have too many platinum and diamond cruisers, then the only answer is to raise the limits and not grandfather people in. That's if it is truly a problem for Carnival to hand out fanny packs and chocolate covered strawberries to several hundred or perhaps thousand cruisers on a given voyage. If cheap fanny packs are bankrupting Carnival, they've got far bigger problems.
  10. I hope that people will take these reports seriously. Carnival is a shadow of its former self. I am sorry you learned this all too late. I hope that people who read your review will take it seriously. We are not trying to diss Carnival - we are reporting our true experience. Ignore it at your peril.
  11. My guess is the cruise line would consider that acceptable collateral damage. A cruiser that hasn’t spent any money for 3-5+ years is not a focus.
  12. Do you think the goal is to get you to come back, even if only for a quick 3-night cruise, to keep your status? If that's the case I could see Carnival adding it to their program. To encourage folks to continue sailing, even if they've moved on to other lines, if they want to keep their Platinum or Diamond status with Carnival they need to do a cruise every 3-5 years. I imagine some folks who otherwise have moved on to other lines would go on a Carnival cruise every so often just so they can keep their status.
  13. Carnival has menus for all their eateries on their website. The breakfast menu for Blue Iguana should be there.
  14. Understood and totally valid. So what you'll have to do is feed gift cards into the machine as you go, it'll apply the full amount of the gift card to your onboard balance. At the end of the cruise any unused balance if under $10 will be donated to St Judes or if over $10 will be refunded to you as a new gift card. Usually they're sent via fedex a few weeks after the cruise.
  15. There have been rumors that Carnival is going to revamp the VIFP program going back years. I am sure they'll do something like that whenever the revamp is announced.
  16. What I would do is fund your S&S account with a credit card. Then once you're done charging things to your onboard account, stop by a kiosk or the guest services desk and apply the gift cards to your balance. If you do it this way, let's say you end the cruise with $350 in charges but a $500 gift card. They'll leave $150 on your gift card and you can use it next time.
  17. I like all the lounges and public spaces on the Conquest class.
  18. Yes, you told us that already.
  19. It's been over a decade since I cruised over Christmas so I don't know what it looks like now, but back then they did do a special meal in the dining room and caroling. I don't recall the Grinch appearing. They had a menorah in the atrium and lit it every night. Very busy and crowded ship. I remember the line for burgers being backed up past the pool. Lots of kids and families. I will personally never cruise over Christmas again. I am able to cruise during the shoulder season when prices are lower and there are fewer kids, so that is when I prefer to cruise.
  20. There is very little going on around the ship before at least 3PM...so there is no need to rush to be the first on board. It only takes 45 minutes or so to eat lunch and do muster. Then you're basically just walking around killing time until sail away.
  21. Wear what you want to wear, Carnival does not enforce a dress code anymore so no worries.
  22. Basically what we're saying is, tip extra if you wish. But don't feel like you need to tip extra to get good service.
  23. You can paint your own toenails, change your own oil, air fry your own mini corn dogs, etc., as well, but sometimes it's nice to have somebody else do it.
