I really enjoyed her review too and actually all of her input regarding Alaska cruises. We too finally got off of the fence and, I believe, booked the same sailing you will be on.
For us, we do not feel this way at all. We sailed in a Haven on the Joy in February and then again in a non-Haven suite in September. The only thing we missed was the Haven restaurant. Going forward, we have four cruises booked and as of now, only one of them will be in a Haven cabin.
Unfortunately, I think you are onto a new change. Your findings seem identical to my research when it happened to me last year. It took a few days for NCL to get NCL on the same page, but the end result was we lost basically all suite amenities and we received $200 OBC.
So now it seems like going forward, only a few ships will have extra amenities for their suites. Very disappointing if true.
We also stayed in one of the Haven cabins on deck 14 and loved the location. Also, it took us less than a minute to enter the Haven Courtyard. Would choose this location again instead of the Haven Courtyard. Plus, our cabin was huge too.
And what happens if NCL cancels a port before the cruise but within final payment? Do they automatically refund those port fees? The Grenada port was cancelled and replaced with a sea day for our March 2023 Epic sailing. However, they did add some six hours to our Curacao stop.
The Epic has the Posh club which is basically the Haven sundeck. All Haven passengers automatically get excess to the Posh club. Based upon my research, they do sell a very, very small amount of passes once on board.
We have sailed twice since the restart. On the latter cruise we dined in the MDR a few times and found the food to be much better than previously before Covid. Also thought the desserts were a big improvement.
I just wish they would bring back mozzarella sticks in O'Sheehan's/The Local.
Even though we will be in a Haven cabin for our next cruise, this new news does not sit well with me either. Like many others, have coffee and pastries delivered to our cabin to start off our day is something we really enjoy. When not included in the future, I will get dressed and run to the buffet or observation lounge to grab it myself instead of paying the $6 (including the service charge) plus additional tip.
