Laundry is an oft asked question. Here is a thread with pictures of thr controls and instructions -
Cruise Critic does not allow anyone to post TA recommendations

I received VRJ7 in MVJ so that is not for a new customer. Edit: I played with a few different codes and it looks like there is a $500 discount off list price for the non-aquarium cabins. The free air is only on the a Grand European. Removing the code doesn’t change the pricing except for the free air for the Grand European.
-
When you book online the past guest discount is applied at the end. The standard past guest discount is $200 per person if you have sailed within 1 year and $100 if longer than 1 year.

No formal nights. Polos and slacks are the uniform of the day.

We were on this itinerary in the winter last year. Although we had extensions on both ends, you might find my review of the cruise helpful.

Ask the chef why and they might correct this.

While we were on a Viking ocean cruise some years ago, one of the lecturers gave a fantastic presentation about the Mona Lisa. The story is pretty wild. Her theft was one of the first international media events and until then it was a small unassuming portrait that was paid no particular interest. During COVID, Russell Lee did his presentation, among others, over the internet. He’s a wonderful storyteller. It’s definitely worth your time to watch. He also recorded presentations about the Dutch tulip bulb bubble and Greek mythology. All are worth watching. https://viking.tv/tv/this-week-on-viking-tv/wednesdays/exploring-the-mona-lisa-with-writer-and-lecturer-russell-lee

Mamsen’s is also open from 4-5 with sandwiches and snacks.

Pizza Hut bakes everything fresh too but the dough is frozen.

Not per se. His personal collection was donated to UCSD and the library was renamed. There is an art gallery in La Jolla that has some of his works, and there are statues around town. https://www.sandiego.org/articles/history/discovering-dr-seuss-in-san-diego.aspx A friend of mine was a hairdresser and she use to go to their home to style his wife’s hair. They had a bronze Lorax statue at the home and someone stole it. It was later found in a canyon. https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/dr-seuss-geisels-stolen-lorax-statue-found-hidden-in-la-jolla-canyon/1927839/?amp=1

Couple questions about Viking
OneSixtyToOne replied to NCteacherlovescruising's topic in Viking Ocean
Viking has a new class of ship coming online. It has a hybrid hydrogen propulsion system to use in ecologically sensitive areas. They have also increased the beam so the stateroom will have more sq. footage The Viking owner is Norwegian and one of the richest families in Norway, and the ships are Norwegian flagged. If anything they have the inside track on being allowed to cruise there. https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2023/10/viking-on-course-to-hydrogen-fuel-cells/ -
Cruising out of Greenwich does have the advantage of a tour of the town. You can spend a whole day there visiting the Royal Observatory, Maritime Museum, and the Cutty Sark.
-
If you decide on London spend at least 4 nights there. So much to do and see and very easy to get around on the tube. For tours, we recommend London Walks. We’ve used them many times and their guides are fantastic. For most tours you need no reservations, just show up at the designated meeting spot. They also have day tours to Stonehenge, Cambridge, etc. If you are planning a trip in June, be aware that it’s the King’s birthday and the Trooping of the Colours will be held one weekend. It’s a sight to behold. Be sure to check dates. The last week in May is the Chelsea Flower Show, the largest in the world. We’ve attended twice and it’s pretty incredible.

I’m not a chemical engineer, although I may play one on this board. I’m sure Viking has chosen one of the least objectionable institutional detergents available, but you can’t please everyone.

It IS free of dye and fragrances. If you smell something it’s not added fragrance, just the smell of the ingredients. Personally I don’t smell anything from it. https://www.ecolab.com/offerings/liquid-laundry/laundry-detergent-plus#:~:text=Laundry Detergent Plus is a,Liquid Laundry

Found it. Ecolab detergent It is dye, phosphate, and fragrance free. Here is their website https://www.ecolab.com/offerings/liquid-laundry/laundry-detergent-plus#:~:text=Laundry Detergent Plus is a,Liquid Laundry

Also note if you book a Viking extension, transportation to/from the airport is included even if you book your own air, as long as it is the same day.

Someone on this board responded in a thread somewhere about the brand. He worked for the supplier. I recall it was not Purel and was a European or British brand I had no knowledge of.
-
On our last cruise, I commented to the chef that I missed the chocolate raspberry mousse from the previous evening. When we later retired to our stateroom, we found two servings on the desk.
