  1. If true, with no Alaska Airline service in Skagway to fly them to Ketchikan? This will be pricey!
  2. On the Crown week before last, it was Crystal Geyser.
  3. Is this a pre-cruise hotel package with transfers? If so, all will be taken care of. If this is an independent hotel stay and transferring to San Pedro, which IS the Port of Los Angeles, use the hotel airport shuttle for your hotel stay and then either Uber/Lyft from there to the cruise port or take the hotel shuttle back to LAX and catch the Princess x-fer bus to the cruise port. Easier than it sounds.
  4. On the Crown last week, deluxe balcony with 2 foot stools on the balcony.
  5. No, I was not. You have been given faulty information.
  6. Just off the crown 5 days ago and I DEFINITELY had a grab bar in my shower in cabin C307.
  7. Nothing like trying to camp on the freeway! Don't forget the PES happy hour everyday from 5-7 is in Skywalkers. People talking but nothing boisterous.
  8. Yeah, I'll handle it on board. But why the discrepancy between the advertised price of the excursion and what they charged me?
  9. As I recall, the biggest danger is the traffic. It's on the same side of the street as the ship so no crossing traffic. Can't recall if there is a sidewalk there.
  10. I'm boarding the Crown on the 23rd for a 10 day to Ak. On Wed., I "wish listed" an excursion in Skagway for $129.00. On Friday, I got an email from Princess telling me I had booked and confirmed to the tune of $186.00! I never bought the excursion, didn't even get to the confirm and pay page. Never saw that page. I tried to cancel but the excursions are closed. Guess who is getting a visit immediately upon my boarding?
  11. Your new fare may be for "new bookings only" in the fine print. That would explain the new booking number. That may be why they needed to cancel your first booking and give you a new booking number.
  12. Wear what is comfortable to YOU! Suit and tie not required. It is your vacation.
  13. Will the MOON Princess be far behind?
  14. There is definitely train service between Anchorage and Whittier. If this is part of a Princess package, there should be a rep at the hotel to answer questions. Others will chime in with their experiences.
  15. Yes! Any and all changes to your booking MUST be done by the casino dept. This includes Ez-Air and insurance. You should also be very vigilant about your booking. Check often, things have a habit of mysteriously disappearing from from your booking or the entire booking is dropped. It happened to me. A TA is usually most helpful for these bookings, IMO.
  16. Absolute gold star advice! I lost $700 with them because I couldn't back up my claims of not getting any of the promised money back (400 dep. and $300 in casino play) on a casino cruise. Hard lesson learned.
  17. If you don't have a broker, the easiest way may be through your bank.
  18. I will be on the Crown May 23rd. Can you find out how many Chef's Table experiences are held an your cruise and what nights they are held. Pre-planning and all of that! TIA
  19. A 10 day cruise R/T Vancouver cruises the Inside Passage and hits the ports of Sitka, Icy Straight Point, a glacier day, Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. All the favorites.
  20. Nice!! Do you have a plan for activities in Vegas? If not, consider renting a car and take a day trip to Zion National Park in Utah. It is about a 2+ hour drive filled with desert landscapes. Zion is kind of a reverse Grand Canyon experience as you look up at the scenery in Zion as opposed to looking down at the Grand Canyon. Lots of short hikes available with a free shuttle to access the park attractions. Also, consider a half day/full day visit to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Be sure to access the highway bridge (can't remember the official name, .... Tillman Bridge) for the exceptional views of the lake, dam and Colorado River.
  21. I'm booked on a 10 day Alaska cruise on May 23rd in a deluxe balcony and bid $205 for a Reserve Class mini. Minimum bid was $180. Waiting for a reply.
  22. I'm guessing that they have a "proof" limit for wines. ABV {alcohol by volume} is generally in the 12 - 14% range for table wines. What is fortified wine? Before modern refrigeration, fortified wine was produced in an attempt to prevent wine spoilage by increasing its alcohol content (1). Wine undergoes a process called fermentation, which occurs when yeast converts the sugar from the grapes into alcohol and carbon dioxide (2Trusted Source). Distilled spirits like brandy are added at varying times during the fermentation process, which boosts the alcohol content and alters the flavor of the final product. If the spirits are added before the fermentation process is complete, the fortified wine acquires a sweeter taste. Conversely, the wine tends to be more dry if the spirits are added later. Both sweet and dry varieties are often served as aperitifs or digestifs before or after meals to help stimulate appetite and digestion. Some types are also used in cooking to add a delicious twist to your favorite recipes. Summary Fortified wine is produced by adding distilled spirits to wine during or after fermentation. It’s available in both dry and sweet varieties, often served before or after meals or used in cooking. Types of fortified wine Several types of fortified wine are available, each differing in flavor and production method. Here are the most common types of fortified wine: Port wine. This type originates in Portugal but is now produced worldwide. Brandy is added to the wine before it has finished fermenting, resulting in a sweeter flavor. Sherry. Sherry is available in several varieties based on the type of grapes used. Though it’s traditionally dry, it’s sometimes sweetened and served as a dessert wine. Madeira. Originating in the Portuguese Madeira Islands, this type is heated and oxidized by exposing it to air. Brandy is added at different times during fermentation, causing variations in flavors. Marsala. Marsala is a common cooking wine that’s fortified after fermentation, giving it a distinct dry flavor. It’s also sometimes sweetened, making it a great addition to dessert recipes. Vermouth. Available both dry and sweet, vermouth is a fortified white wine that’s often flavored with herbs and spices like cloves and cinnamon. It’s also used to make cocktails like martinis, Manhattans, and Negronis. *************** All of this may be moot if the port staff doesn't challenge you and your selections.
