  1. All of Carnival's Transatlantic cruises currently selling (including that one) are designated Journey cruises and there will be lectures on sea days. Some might be more interesting than others. Academy of Fun A mind forever voyaging brings its bearer infinite returns. What we’re saying is, give your mind a little treat — take it on a Carnival Journeys cruise! Since a relaxing vacation doesn’t have to mean switching off completely, Carnival Journeys includes all-expenses-paid scholarship to the Academy of Fun, an enriching series of onboard courses designed to help expand your horizons. Look beyond the horizon and see stars as one of the ship’s officers walks you through the historical art and science of celestial navigation — how mariners navigated the seas long before radar and GPS. For something more twenty-first century, try a #fun class in social media, or a photography 101 course that’ll teach you how to take photos beyond just pointing and shooting. (These are just a few of the courses we’ve offered in the past, but you never know what we’ll be offering on your Carnival Journeys cruise!)
  2. I think it varies more with how many people are trying to use at the same time, and also how many people are connected to a specific access point. In Ecstasy, each stateroom (in my experiences) had an access point. That likely is the same on Horizon. It seems like the number of people vlogging and live streaming is growing exponentially which slow things down for everyone. Satellite coverage is obviously a factor but I don't think it varies that much over the duration of a cruise.
  3. I'm finding taxis are sometimes cheaper than Uber these days. You should be able to prebook either to the port. For that many people maybe a small bus from a limo company?
  4. If the TA claims they can't help you try insisting on a conference call with Carnival. and find a new TA
  5. I like to let the suspense build 🙂 but they include a couple of Alaska cruises, a partial Panama canal, a crossing, and one to a bunch of Saints. and there is also an adventure cruise not on Carnival and a land cruise to Hawaii. Whew. Then I think back to 7-8 day cruises.
  6. Maybe. Our next (oops) 5 Carnival cruises are Journey cruises.
  7. Carnival started a Menu Mate program last year https://www.carnivalcorporation.com/news-releases/news-release-details/carnival-deploys-menu-mate-food-ingredient-program-fleetwide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoH6zn684uI
  8. Boarding passes don't say Priority for lowly Platinums or even Diamonds these days. My boarding pass and luggage tags now say Diamond.
  9. If I still worked, it wouldn't matter. Export control laws prohibited it. One of the reasons I started cruising more and more.
  10. I tip housekeeping, not maids. Most people may not, but it is rude not to. https://www.travelandleisure.com/travel-tips/travel-etiquette/how-much-to-tip-hotel-housekeeping
  11. Also likely they are speaking in tongues when they try to order
  12. Of course. Cheap people exploit this all the time.
  13. The porters have access to the manifest and blank tags. They will hand write the cabin number on them.
  14. Once I flew to Europe not knowing my cabin number.
  15. Twice a day is twice a day. But it is moot. Cruising will never again be as it was pre-covid. Service on Carnival is once a day, tipping is per day not per service, period. It isn't rocket science.
  16. Thank you for confirming twice a day service.
  17. I remember when so many were thrilled when cruising restarted. How quickly some turned. Some of the biggest complainers seem to be those cruising on virtually FREE cruises. Unbelievable.
  18. The gratuities have NEVER been based on per service. They have always been based on a cruise basis broken down by days. I do know that the stewards no longer have to deal with reams of Diamond International garbage.
  19. True, but the inexperienced cruiser would not miss it.
  20. Here is the regular RS menu from the Celebration Transatlantic room-service-10am-6am-092022.pdf
  21. John Heald did not lie. You could still have service twice a day and we DID. Our last pre-covid cruise was Carnival Conquest, Feb 8-15, 2020.
  22. This is what Guest Services handed me on the last sailing of Carnival Ecstasy - it is the same as the door hanger above. 20230104_HUNGRY FOR BREAKFAST_.pdf
  23. I was streaming Thursday Night football in the middle of the Atlantic on Celebration. 🙂
  24. I don't know about that. I found the WiFi on Carnival Ecstasy (the oldest ship at the time) was superior to that on Celebrity Reflection and Royal Vision of the Seas. I don't fool with travel routers. Google Pixels make great routers.
