  1. Beautifully done! This is such a lovely tribute to your dear Jose. Scholarships and bursaries are so important. My DS has been fortunate to receive some to help with his Master’s degree, so proud he received the Chancellor’s scholarship this year. @StLouisCruisersWe have been very pleased with Stefano’s Rome cabs over the years. They do book up early though!
  2. That was my understanding too, in the details it says regular cancellation fees will apply. But today I was told the same as @Haljo1935
  3. Late to the party, but giggling over the computers. My first one took up the whole basement of the computer science building at the University and I had to keypunch my programs on decks of cards. LOL, not very portable! @smitty34877 such a great picture, so nice to have those great memories!
  4. That makes sense, yet today they told me it was non refundable even with a refundable deposit. will have to get my TA to call again.
  5. I didn’t notice this thread when I asked the same question. I was looking to book CO but was told it was non refundable, yet the deposit is refundable. So I declined to book until it’s clarified. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
  6. @kazu thanks! I seem to be getting conflicting answers from HAL. I am curious about prior to cruising as I only book refundable fares. It says normal cancellation fees apply on the website. So I am hoping it depends on the type of fare booked.
  7. I want to confirm others experiences. Is club orange refundable?
  8. Wish they’d give it a little more time, even 24 hours would help. Good morning and thanks all! @kazu thanks for the explanation about Seneca. @Quartzsite Cruiser hope you’re all settled in soon in your beautiful new motor home. We were out looking for snow geese and were rewarded by seeing huge flocks! The sound is surreal. IMG_3235.mov
  9. Oh my. We were on the Koningsdam when she lost power, the captain tore out of the Mariner lunch and I foolishly thought at least we were near land. Later found out it’s much better to be out to sea than possibly end up on shore by accident. best wishes @RMLincoln that all goes well! I know I missed many as I am so late today. We loved our visit to Dublin, the beautiful doors and the book of Kells are top most in my mind. And a course a visit to Guinness, where much to DH’s chagrin they will put black current cordial in the Guinness, and it becomes more palatable for some! If you’re nearby there’s a lake near Wicklow, that looks like Guinness.
  10. Sending you thanks for all you do with the animals. Our DGD volunteers at a rescue where they currently have a number of dogs from a hoarding situation. So sad for all, glad for the good you do! @marshhawk so sorry to hear you were so ill! I hope you make a quick and full recovery! Poor Chuck! I’m glad at least the beginning of the trip was good!
  11. We stayed once near Termini and didn’t like the area. We much preferred staying near campo di Fiori. It felt a much safer area to explore in the evening.
  12. I thought it was interesting to see the history of this familiar poem, written by Canadian who died in active service in World War One.
  13. Aghios Nikolas is a lovely place on a lake in Crete. We’ve stayed near there a couple of times. If you’re ever there, it’s well worth a visit to the island of Spinalonga. There is a very interesting novel titled The Island which is set on this island during WW2. It was a leper colony.
  14. Canada is celebrating Remembrance Day, earlier known as armistice day. At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month,
  15. Good morning and thanks all! @ger_77 yay, on the great news at the pacemaker check! A bit of a crazy few days here, not the least of the furnace quit yesterday and the parts may be a month or two. Praying the temporary fix works that long! We enjoyed our visit to Cagliari on the Queen Victoria. We enjoyed seeing the elephant sculptures on the climb up to the cathedral.
  16. Well finally could log in! What a pain! I’m enjoying the photos of Palermo, Lenda we loved Monreale, they were repairing some of the mosaics and we watched them work. Love the temple, Carolyn, next time! I’ll add to the camera discussion, we use the iPhone a lot and will get the pro model later this month. But for some things, like birds nothing beats a professional camera. The speed, zoom and Clarity cannot be matched. But carrying that thing is another issue. We also have a Nikon p900, great zoom, but lacks the speed of a professional camera. I had to laugh that I don’t think anyone realized the owl I posted was in all three shots. I really wish they would leave the daily open a little longer as it is usually locked by the time I check in. For a long cruise we’ll take the big guy, but for lots of travelling we will choose the other. @cruising sister thanks for the wonderful news about baby Murphy! A couple more comparisons.
  17. Good morning and thanks all! @StLouisCruisers my condolences on the loss of Mark! @Quartzsite Cruisercongratulations on the new motor home, you will love those recliners! @kazu the bursary is a wonderful thing to honour Jose! Woo hoo! We’ve seen Albania from Corfu, they are very close, lovely to see the photos! We've been out hunting with the camera and after two years finally saw another great grey owl! Met a lovely wildlife photographer from Montana. I’ll share my cell photo and than DH’S professional camera. Good luck if you find it! zoomed in
  18. How was the motion of the ocean on your way across? I am a bit of a fairweather sailor, so curious? Thanks!,
  19. Kona has been our favourite place for many years! And a great place to ride out winter!
  20. Good day and thanks all! I don’t like changing times. Would prefer to stay on standard. @ger_77 are you on permanent standard? We were given the option to stay on permanent day lite time, but not to stay on permanent standard. @StLouisCruisers I loved your dinner story! I’m sure it was a great experience. We have had the pleasure of dining with the staff captain. @kazu never a dull moment, how fortuitous you taught Ivan home! @aliaschiefthanks for the info on the seasick remedy. Great to have options if I venture farther. @smitty34877thinking of you today as you say goodbye! @cruising sister what great news about little Murphy! @Cruising-along hope your DGS recovers quickly!
  21. If you see another p900 aboard, it’s likely my cousin! Have fun!
