  1. I will say that traffic between WPB and FLL is absolutely terrible most days. Give plenty of time if you are going by car. I lived in Miami for over 10 years, daughter now lives in West Palm so still a frequent visitor from a lil north on I-95 .... usually my problem on 95 is not SLOW but damn fast .......
  2. How far from Port Everglades is WPB, please? UBER X right now is $75 (dropped to $60 as I was typing), XL $139 Both places are minutes off 95 so it is a straight shot ... it is possible to travel between the two by train ... BUT the stations are not AT the airport or the cruise port so you need an additional transportation step at each end and could waiting for 'the next train' which could be a while ..... like an hour . .
  3. possible maybe as high as 75% probable but it may activate the stress-o-meter ...... one hiccup and forgetaboutit ... example, there's really just one road from the port to the airport with limted places to get on/off 'tween the two. One accident can close this road (2 lanes each direction) for hours ..... happens about once a month ..... IF you can get to an alternate that will easily add 30+ minutes to the trip ... probably a lot more. check the port load for your date https://www.portcanaveral.com/getattachment/Cruise/Cruise-Lines-Schedules/CPA-Website-Schedule-Jan-May-2023.pdf.aspx?lang=en-US example: this Friday is 3 ships and not all BIG so the port load / folks heading in and out of the port and airport is "normal" ... but some days have 4 or 5 or even 6 with several BIG ONES and then things can get crazy FAST <they previously put passenger counts on the spreadsheet but I think that scared folks so they don't do that anymore ... so you need to know your ships or do a lil research to know HOW MANY heads will be possible>
  4. price out UBER ... costs nothing to enter the data and see cost .... price may vary on actual day as prices ARE dynamic but usually not by much. just load the app and enter the from/to and you'll get current price .... takes another step to actually book it. I ran Hampton Inn Clermont to Terminal 1 and get $78 for UBER X and $109 for XL - that's per vehicle .... I always prefer XL for a larger vehicle if it is two of us
  5. we did the Bergen Voss Flam Oslo trip with a night in Flam ... it was great. Train>Bus>Ferry>train>train start on the Bergen Oslo train get off at Voss and transfer to a bus - but not too long transfer to the ferry for fjord trip to Flam Flam railway to end of the line rejoining the Bergen / Oslo line in Myrdal booked thru 'nutshell' Flam is a totally different place with no cruise crowd!
  6. <HoHo map Bergen> stop 1 is at the Skolten / Bontelabo piers stop 8 is near where the 'cruise shuttle' serving Jekteviken / Dokken stops
  7. I had one of those knifes and forgot it was in my backpack. Security pulled it out. Toenail clippers go right thru zip ties and don't cause problems.
  8. today, these disease issues are typically only found in interior regions and NOT coastal and certainly not in 'tourist' areas.
  9. I order a big mac at burger king all the time .... no big deal. 🤪
  10. gotta say without going into details we did something very similar a few years back and it turned into a DISASTER when the teen girls had a tif early in the cruise and got so bad ship security got involved and when they 'found out' people were no longer in 'assigned rooms' and breaking policy things went down hill fast. Run Forrest, RUN
  11. if you are driving the 'arrive a day early' doesn't really apply .... that's mostly for airline hiccups . . . but do give extra time in case you have traffic issues on the final stretch of I-95. parking wise if you dig thru this thread you find that the majority opinion is park at the port as off site parking in Miami has more bad reviews then good. I lived there for over 10 years and continue to cruise from there ... worked downtown and at the port. Parking downtown is hard to find and/or expensive .... any 'low cost' cruise parking is gonna be sketchy as the port is smack downtown. If I really wanted to save a few bucks parking I'd consider something out by the airport which I DID use often when work required me to fly and had no issues. But costs for transport to/from the port from here will eat any savings. I tried port off site one and that was a disaster!
  12. i remember no divider you may want to consider ODYSSEY OTS - it does have some single rooms. Son stayed in one cruising with us in Nov .... it is small but has own balcony etc. Price wasn't bad . .
  13. The port will likely take the choice away from you....they seem to decide which lots will be open and available. agree ... this is a safety factor .... POM (and other ports) don't keep all the garages 'open' 24x7 but will only open/staff on a day they know a cruise has need to access the garage. No cruise in or out that day the associated garage is locked down . . .
  14. I'd nix DG ..... Publix and WD are grocery with Publix being probably the highest ranked 'regular' grocery chain in the south east. Usually have good wine selection ... NOT necessarily the best prices tho ..... I have FOUR close to me and prices vary from store to store based on surrounding neighborhood ... but good quality and CLEAN. <not a "good foods' or 'fresh market' ... a full service grocery ...> CVS is a 'drug store' like Walgreens & will also have everything you want ..... were it me: Publix or CVS ...... (p.s. Publix is famous for the GREAT subs they make in the deli department . . . just sayin' .....)
  15. standard equipment on most Navy ships and larger Coast Guard Cutters while the bridge watch typically used https://www.steiner-optics.com/binoculars/military-marine-7x50 p.s. these are $420 .... but that's what 'professionals' who NEED quality optics pay . . . (actual military version is even more ...)
  16. there are presently at least 3 ships named 'Wonder' Disney Wonder Carnival Wonder and Wonder of the Seas but looking at your dates I presume you mean so T1 ..... as to UBER yes they are available BUT take a look at the schedule .... on Sunday the port entertains 4 ships these days and 3 of these are BIG. There are a BUNCH of people looking for rides and Canaveral is NOT a big city like Miami or Orlando so UBER availability (and taxis) should be viewed accordingly . . .
  17. Just wondering closest and easiest way to get rental car from port? I checked the app and looks like to get Uber or Lyft there will be very hard. The majors run shuttles from the port to the airport <a few run shuttles to small downtown locations> You need proof of a reservation to get on these shuttles IME ..... but they DO run and btw if you 'just checked the app' it showed you NOW {then} ...... on a ship turnover day UBER/L are stacked up waiting for fares . . .
  18. 6 people and bags ....... have you priced a limo? https://hotrayzlimos.com/fleet/lincoln-mkt-8-passenger/ they hook a trailer for bags . . .
  19. plenty of options near by like La Carreta right across the street. AMEN ... tourists go to V and locals go the LaC' p.s. I can not CONFIRM but I understand the same family owns BOTH . . . <LaC' has several locations around the city> one is 'fancy' <kinda> other is 'family' having lived in Miami for 9 years and Mrs office close to V ...... we usually choose to go to LaC ...... if entertaining MAYBE V' .... or for a quick lunch
  20. the guide / divemaster will have shears or a knife ...... Mrs and I both had knives in our standard gear and diving since the mid 80's only times I remember them being used was to open a drink can when the tab broke, stubborn plastic wrap around a sandwich, or to tap on the tank to get partners attention! Daughter was an 'intern' at CocoView in Roatan a few years back and her kit didn't include a knife ... still doesn't ...... Most dive ops in the keys won't let you have one ..... or gloves ..... toe nail clippers will breeze thru fishing line!!!!
  21. Where we are going I'm told there are no Uber or Lyfts and it will be best to rent a car and drive. where you are going don't matter ... where you need to be picked up DOES ....... 90 minute ride is a bit long for U/L but knot unheard of ...... using the app you can check the price (estimate) <your post/question is not very clear btw so I'm not sure I'm actually answering your question . . .>
  22. cruise in Nov started with cans and I guess they ran out cuz plastic appeared by 3rd day.
  23. November last ....... coming in off I-95 with 4 of us in the car I <driver> showed my DL and a "set sail" paper. Asked if we had and weapons .... "NO" .... given a color coded mirror hang (where we were allowed to go?) and all done .......
  24. We enjoyed our stay at Radisson Blu ..... next to Dammtor train station rooftop bar gave great views of the city . . .
