  3. there's a slew of properties near the port that have opened in the past few years .... just need to research a bit. This one is among the newest .... Hampton Inn Suites and Home2 in one building sharing pool etc .....
  4. you'll find plenty of reindeer sausage . . . https://www.solheimkjott.no/butikkutvalg/polser
  5. FOUND IT this is a map given out on our first cruise visit to Bergen by the tourist bureau and in the lower left corner you see the blue dot line which is the "shuttlebus from/to cruise" which connects to the red dot line which is the recommended walking route to the tourist areas
  6. when r u cruising? you can see the port docking schedule here - they post in 6 month chunks and subject to change
  7. I've been to Bergen several times and returning in a few weeks but have always been at the terminal near Bryggen. I've seen same information as you that at Jekt' pier there is a shuttle out of the industrial area to the entrance of the port and it appears there are bus stops here. I've usually found taxi to be plentiful in Bergen. star is approx place the port shuttle lets you out I believe. Fish market (left) funicular (up) and Bryggen are manked (approx) Star to fish market is 1/2 mile straight line
  8. Just did this and had two tolls. $3 in quarters will take care you from MCO to Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach. correct so long as we're talking MCO to the port with no side trips or early exit ..... there are two tolls, one at the 417 junction and one at Dallas Road ... at this time these still have attended lanes. Caution the attended lanes look like exits if not paying attention. The electronic lanes go straight thru and the attended is off to the right ....
  9. really???? Well 95 exit I suppose is true . . . about 9 miles straight line I believe . .
  10. it can vary by county and sometimes municipality ... I live on the county line and in a particular plaza the places on the south side can start at 11, and on the north side, noon . . .
  11. The fastest trains of the hourly service would take 3h25m to make the 235-mile trip, an average speed 68-mph, https://www.gobrightline.com/train-stations/fl/train-schedules?fbclid=IwAR0bIsPj9gj3G7uhzKxHigs3gaj2Tf1QlweJVl7GSOji9dhX9EPEkvtgrV0
  12. Park N Cruise is my go to for PC ... less then 10 minutes away Royal's main terminal is T-1 .... ~3 miles they've been using T-5 for overflow (2 ships same day) but that's still ~ 3 miles
  13. tip well ... taxi is really your only option you don't see huge queues of taxi in PC .... this is a small town with WAY fewer taxi then say Miami or Orlando . . .
  14. https://www.portcanaveral.com/getattachment/Cruise/Cruise-Lines-Schedules/CPA-Website-Schedule-Apr-Sep-2023.pdf.aspx?lang=en-US as mentioned check this schedule (for most current piece go to portcanaveral.com then cruise lines and schedules then near the top 'click here' ) current times can begin at 3:30 pm and go as late as 9 pm ..... varies by day but somewhat consistent from week to week with the 'regulars' T W Thu are usually 'thin' and if the only ship is at T-3 you won't see anything from Fishlips (or any of the port side places)
  15. which port in Jam'? Very different recommendations depending on the place ...... In Cayman my fav' this to do is snorkel AWAY from where the crowds go and for me this means heading down to Sunset House. Just a mile from the tender landings but that's far enuf that few cruise folks venture so far. My Bar is a large open air thatch roof place with good drinks good food and good people - a great place to chill and a great place to shore snorkel for free - rental equipment available. https://www.sunsethouse.com/ me and daughter visiting My Bar soon after she was certified to dive - building dive experience before an internship at CocoView resort in Roatan thru Univ of 'Bama .....
  16. Verizon has multiple options. You can pay $100/month and have full use of your phone <this price can vary according to your existing plan .... usually LESS: Or with this plan you 'activate it' and it costs nothing ... until you make a call then you are charged $10 and have access for 24 hours ... On the ship turn cellular OFF but keep WiFi ON I've used this and it works well. These plans get you access when off the ship. Don't forget VO has fee internet for you on the ship so you have access to your e-mail and if you have a relatively new phone you should have ability to turn on WiFi calling which places your call thru the internet (VOIP) ... On my iPhone XR Settings>cellular>Wi-Fi calling ... when connected to ship internet you sould be able to make calls . . .
  17. look at Viking Ocean for very good trips to Norway and/or Brit'. We did one beginning in London/Greenwich .. hit a couple of ports in British Isles then cut over to Norway and bounced up and down the coast. Come this July we're staring in Bergen, Norway bouncing up the coast to WAY north <78N .... Arctic Circle is 66.5 north .... HOT is NOT expected!> Then ends in Iceland.
  18. this was what was being used as a tender for our VIKING cruise out of Greenwich in July '18 they chartered from the regular water taxi company ..... this is taken from deck of Cutty Sark .... the mooring buoys are 'permanent'
  19. have you looked at a one day one way rental car. even using UBER for a ride from drop off of the car you usually come out ahead and if going to a cruise ship there are free shuttles
  20. No one has called it "high speed rail". It's called "higher speed rail". actually BL has used that term often and the press usually does but high speed and higher speed actually have legal meanings in this context and for most of its route BL is higher and not HIGH ... higher is slower and required far less SAFETY by design. Only after the route turns to the east west leg - between Cocoa and MCO, along the 528 corridor - does the track have no grade level crossings and full fencing required to run at what's legally (in US) HIGH SPEED RAIL speeds. <even then the planned speed is below full 'high speed' legal limits> Curious side bar - the trains are still in the earlies test phases here in the Cocoa area and on the entire east/west leg .. I've yet to even SEE one locally ...... the local first responders held a combines 'mass casualty exercise' ... dubbed off the tracks ..... 🤕

  22. Does anyone know if there is a Hertz rental care in the area to drop off a car? Hertz location near the port closed several years ago. Nearest location is in Cocoa (not Cocoa Beach) and near the 520/95 interchange .... 14 plus miles to the port (not a direct line) ... no shuttle that I'm aware of 2800 W King St, Cocoa, FL 32926 - in the Chevy dealership!
