  1. they certainly lose tons of money every time the ship cannot tender. all the expensive cabanas etc have to be refunded. wonder if they would calculate how many times ships miss that port vs the millions it costs to build a dock
  2. i'm guessing these are more protected ports than GSC and coco cay so probably do have higher chances of getting on land in ME and RI. but on christmas day one year the captain said NO to NCLs island because of potential high waves but the ocean looked calm to me. sigh. we had to sail away watching the royal people on coco cay laughing at us because NCL has no dock. and this is the only tendering ive ever done. we are meeting a friend in RI to be our tour guide so i also didnt want them driving the distance to get there if there's more than a chance we wouldnt make it. i do realize about 1 hour from land you usually get cell signal though. im sure its a madhouse to line up to get tender tickets, by the time you wait in line probably is best to just wait till later and just walk on it sounds like
  3. whats the procedure for enchanted? some other lines have you wait in the theater then go down. do you need tickets etc also what percent of the time do you not make RI and ME? i know with NCL its 92.34% of the time you dont make it to the private island :)
  4. ive had the dinner inside a mini suite and full suite. been a while since ive had the mini suite (forget how big the balcony is) but if i did want it on the mini suite balcony, its pretty tight isnt it? was also curious opinions on doing it on the sea day returning from canada to NYC. avg high temps seem to be 70 mid sept. up that way. unsure if wind would bother us even if temps dont. curious your experiences doing the dinner while under way.
  5. i'm glad to see this started on princess but doubt we will see much of it given the low number of suites. on my 2nd princess cruise on regal i got a call to upsell 249 for a suite. grabbed it right away. deck 10 on regal forward corner. could take a world cruise and store new clothes for every day in the drawers, there were so many! but id never pay full price for a suite because the amenities just arent there compared to the suites on royal or ncl. looking forward to bidding on my enchanted cruise though
  6. here's where logic flies out the window with me. princess is cheap for bottled water compared to most other lines. https://www.ncl.com/onboard-packages/bottled-water-packages ncl wants 20 bucks for 6 liters. so i dont mind paying princess pricing. and i always have to have tons of water in the cabin to drink. i couldnt fill my own bottle in the bathroom sink cause it's just something i wouldnt do. yet, i drink the water in every restaurant. which is the exact same water thats in your bathroom ..right? mr spock would say 'illogical' and he's right. so the short answer is if you like different soda id def bring that on board but it's a waste of my effort to carry water on board. ill give them more profit. most people work hard on a ship.
  7. my experience is based solely on the experience in a regal forward suite which i got an cheap upsell to. no way worth the full price. princess is def more refined than royal and ncl but i can get a crown loft suite on an oasis ship for half the price of a suite on princess and the suite perks are so much better. the suite lounge with free booze, free internet and the coastal kitchen. and oasis has tons more to do on her! ncl haven during covid has been a bit cheaper but in normal times it can be the same as princess or even more. that being said, the ship within a ship is a valuable perk. that being said the forward suite was fantastic with more storage space then you need for even 2 weeks. you also got a mini bar setup. on regal i went to the concierge lounge, its not much bigger than a minisuite or 2. the concierge pretty much ignored me when i asked about simple questions like departure info and made it seem like i was a bother. also if you had more than a handful of people in there it would be too crowded. i got club service in the MDR and was squeezed like a sardine just like the normal MDR and very much ignored for some reason..twice in 2 nites. so the club class id never actually pay for. didnt like much of what they had in the 'suite' restaurant for bfast either. went elsewhere after the 1st day. i do think the mini suites are better on princess than NCL and i'm staying in one again later this year. i havent been on celebrity but from my research no way does it approach princess perk wise. the one huge flaw in many of NCLs haven cabins is tiny balconies! a disgrace for such a premium. i had a 2 BR suite at a good price but the balcony was barely enough for the 2 of us. our princess balcony was a bit bigger thankfully. one thing princess has is elegance, peace and a more refined atmosphere. if the sailed from NY more often id sail them more often.
  8. pretty cool https://www.seawalk.no/news/artikkel-7-seawalk-has-been-moved-from-kingston-and-installed-at-port-royal/
  9. ive tried almost every nite for a week to reserve. mostly get errors. tried on the laptop and it says guest info cannot be retrieved. so basically just keep trying and one day the reservations may stick

  11. 1st time using the new app and geez it is tough . you can make MDR reservation for one day then next day it says error. i decided to go thru the web interface. there it gives you the specific error unable to retrieve guests journey information but if you go to another day you can successfully book. it's totally random what day it lets you book. is this common for this error or am i special?
  12. reading these stories alone is so stressful. i know i'm the only one in the world that never flew to a cruise but i'm glad i have that honor now. it sounds miserable and crazy stressful. also seems like booking a day before the cruise isnt even safe enough anymore.
  13. got a cheap upgrade to a full suite on regal a few years ago so i got CC. sure it's right inside the door of the MDR and no never was a wait, but i was sandwiched together with other guests which was not fun not 'special' if you ask me. we went 2 different nites and both had bad service. we were ignored for some reason both times. no clue why. another table had an issue too. theres really nothing special about it as far as i'm concerned. id def never pay extra for it went to the normal part of the MDR other nites. had a table far apart from others, good service.
  14. you should price the island next door. royal charges insane pricing for what they give you. on a per structure basis NCL is super cheap.
  15. wow really. thats great. i havent been on princess in a few years. i cannot believe i get free booze/soda etc delivered to the cabin. not even ncl haven and royal suites gave me that !
  16. may 1 we were held up by marine traffic. even though i was in a suite i didnt board till 1242. so you just never know week to week what will happen regardless of time i believe 1030 was earliest u could pick
  17. amen to park cafe. got lots of chips during the week!
  18. you def want to ask what they need. here are 2 screenshots from a cruise behind the scenes show i just watched. 2 girls in this tiny cabin with bunks and barely enough room to both stand there at the same time.
  19. one genuine disappointment i had was 6 buck nachos in playmakers. the 2 extra i paid for barely warm chili and not much of it was kinda sad. also i do hate liquid cheese but my fault for not asking about the cheese. i was worried about too many jalapenos on the dish.. was a single one! no worries there onion rings were towered high for 6 bucks. red robins are much better but we are on a ship after all. i passed by a johnny rockets and those looked better but i didnt get them i loved the free chips at park cafe. smiled at the nice girl and we each got 2 name branded bags. 2 different days. talk about jackpot! filet in CK was top 3 ive had on any ship. fav is on princess with the balcony dinner. it almost seemed like real mashed potatoes in the buffet. they had lumps! score for me
  20. i watched 355..or 335. whichever it was..pretty good movie. also theres one about the moon which is great for sci fi fans
  21. royal says Slot Machines – Earn 1 point for every $5 you play on a reel slot machine or $10 on a video poker machine. so if my maths are good, 65000. which is enough to buy a royal suite loft on even wonder
  22. suite steward on oasis told me others wont get paper. but i never verified
