    Ugrade Question

MSC doesn't have specific Bella cabins on many of their ship's deck plans any longer. On those ships Bella is now just a guarantee rate that gets fewer perks.
  2. A poster on an older thread stated $12.99 when purchased in advance and $14.99 if purchased on the island. ETA: The 99 cent part was quoting the poster, I've not seen this on any MSC documents. But the price differential between advance and on island should be similar.
  3. It's a glitch on the MSC website showing nine days. It's because you will be in both Santorini and Mykonos on day five but the itinerary splits it into two differently numbered days. Mykonos is correctly split into two days because Divina overnights from 8:30pm day five to 2:00pm day six (days incorrectly labeled because of error on day five).
  4. I'm not sure it would work, but you could ask to buy two packages for the eight year old and use one for the five year old.
  5. Cruisedeckplans.com (public site) has videos of these cabins where you can see the configuration symbol and it's corresponding bed configuration.
  6. Edit to above comment: I was thinking about the Fantastica suites regarding not much larger in cabin size, the Aurea whirlpool suites are much larger than regular balconies. It's just the long narrow layout that I find less than optimal.
  7. Jim Zimmemran did an extensive review on Seaside, when the cabin type was new. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2503001-jim-zims-msc-seaside-review-with-84-photos-amp-8-videos/#comment-53917392 These cabins are only about 15 sq-ft larger than a regular balcony. The hot tub is much smaller than the forward facing ones on Meraviglia and plus class ships and takes up most of the balcony space. Generally reviewers prefer the aft facing/angled ones due to wind exposure when the ship is moving. Also, the higher deck ones have less exposure to viewers from other nearby balcony cabins.
  8. Interesting. I can't see how Europa could only be using the 843 seat buffet on deck 18 for that many people. Meraviglia+ ships have a 1336 seat buffet for about 5900 non YC passengers. Perhaps not many people are utilizing the buffets for dinner on Med sailings? Seems similar to how Seaside was using part of the deck 8 buffet as a Bella dining room when it was first sailing. Now they just squeeze in more shorter length seatings when needed. MSC has yet to figure out how to get YC passengers to clear out of the YC restaurant after finishing their meal to make space for others. Just for fun I calculated a comparison of YC guests to YC dining room seating. WE rated almost 1.5 guests per seats (304 at double occupancy with 208 seats), interestingly MV, MV+ and Seaside+ were all about the same as WE. Seaside class was better at 1.3 and Fantasia class best at 1.25. While these numbers seem close I will say that my experience is it made a large difference in how crowded the YC restaurants felt and when I've had to wait for a YC table.
  9. I'd think they only took a section of the 628 seat deck 19 La Brasserie buffet area for YC use, otherwise it leaves only the 843 seat Il Mercato buffet on deck 18 for all other passengers. But even that portion is going to cause more buffet congestion for the 6500+ non YC guests.
  10. This may be same person, booked when MSC was showing those corner Meraviglia+ cabins incorrectly and got a surprise once onboard. He also has a second video about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLwQX2jNQtM
  11. I remember some complaint on here a while back about one of those similar Virtuoso cabins, I think somehow it was assigned to a couple who booked a balcony guarantee.
  12. Sorry, my brain only saw studio. I forgot about those few studio balcony cabins. Video of Bellissima 14256 is likely the same layout. I'd just avoid deck 14 under outdoor buffet seating.

  14. The only specialty restaurant I've been told is not included as a Diamond venue is the Teppanyaki. But I've seen others report here they were allowed, sometimes with a small surcharge. Both the Diamond meal and the dining packages use the smaller menu. You can choose items from the à la carte menu for 50% of the menu prices.
  15. Falls into the 5 to 14 night category. As long as it's not a Yacht Club booking you get all money refunded more than 89 days before sailing. 89 to 61 days lose deposit, after that they start taking percentages of the fare.
  16. If you haven't made final payment, just the deposit, you should try calling MSC. It might take several attempts to get a sympathetic rep but MSC has been known to make exceptions to T&C's. People have been able to move YC deposits to new bookings, it's just not officially allowed. But in the MSC world they make exceptions when they feel like it.
  17. Read section 13 of the Terms & Conditions, current version attached. YC bookings have the same change rules but actually less flexibility in that the deposit is non-refundable from the booking date and the penalty periods begin sooner. Booking Terms and Conditions 230713.pdf In addition to the administration fees mentioned above, if the price of the new Cruise Package is higher than that of the original Cruise Package, the difference in price and any insurance premium will be borne exclusively by the Passenger. If the price of the new Cruise Package is lower than that of the original Cruise Package, no refund will be due to the Passenger.
  18. I only left that sentence in to keep the quoted paragraph intact. That sentence refers only to payment of a single supplement to guarantee the right of a solo traveler to singly occupy a cabin with two berths. The only thing full payment of the fare gets you is locking in the price against things like fuel surcharges and port fee/government tax increases.
  19. It's actually in the Conditions of Carriage, referred to by the Terms and Conditions. 3. OCCUPATION OF BERTHS AND CABINS A Passenger shall not have the right to exclusive occupancy of a cabin with two (2) or more berths unless he has paid supplement for exclusive occupation. The Carrier reserves the right to transfer the Passenger from one cabin to another and may adjust the fare accordingly. The Master or the Carrier may, if it becomes advisable or necessary, at any time transfer a Passenger from one berth to another. Conditions of Carriage FINAL 230713.pdf
  20. I think buffet overflow happens when you put that many YC cabins on the ship and don't accordingly increase the size of the YC public areas. I have no plans to sail on these ships, I still remember the 2017 responses from the CC M&M attendees when officers were touting this class of ship.
  21. **The free cruise change is applicable either on the cruise dates or on the destination.
  22. I'd talk to MSC. My guess is that drinks/internet could be included as an all inclusive booking rate but doubtful they would give a credit for add ons like excursions. I've seen this mentioned but unsure if there's a set answer. Very unlikely you could split it into two cruises.
  23. The new sailing needs to be equal to or more than the old sailing, if it's less you will lose the difference. Also, if you book Bella experience there's a $50 per person fee.
  24. https://www.msccruisesusa.com/cruise/excursions Above link is more functional. Scroll down to the filter. Select Destination (Caribbean & Bahamas) the Ports (Ocean Cay Marine reserve) and hit search.. You can click individual excursions for details. You have to have a booking to get current pricing. There is a downloadable PDF but it's a little messed up, I attached below anyway. Ocean Cay Excursions.pdf
  25. Section 13 of the T&C's covers the OP's situation. At least one of the original passengers must remain on the booking or it's a cancelation. It would be possible to add a second person and original passenger does a no show, but there's a chance MSC would add additional charges to the now solo passenger. An original passenger must remain in the Booking for the name change not to be considered a cancellation. If an original passenger does not remain in the Booking, it will be considered a cancellation and is subject to the above cancellation charges. Booking Terms and Conditions 230713.pdf
