  1. Yes for any meal other than continental breakfast - just off Solstice and that was the case.
  2. Our go to hotel in Amsterdam is the Doubletree Centraal Station as we like to take the train from the airport and walk to the hotel (we travel light). We walk everywhere from there but you can catch the tram in front of the train station as well. Boarding day we walk to the ship or in the case of Rotterdam port we take the train there the morning of boarding.
  3. Your Diamond status will make you Elite on Celebrity - happy hour with a select menu of free drinks from 5-7 pm (except embarkation day). Plus a bag of laundry Wash and Fold for each of you. There are other perks as well - you can purchase the internet package at a discount. We do not pay for All Inclusive as we can manage happily with 90 minutes free Stream Internet that is the other perk we use. Just spent two weeks on the Solstice and enjoyed it greatly.
  4. Part of the issue is the location of the kitchens - on M and S class ships they are together so it is easier to obtain MDR items. On Edge ships the MDRs are not close so it requires a staff member to go all the way to that kitchen for those items so may not be possible due to staffing.
  5. Just off two weeks on the Solstice Mexican Riviera. There was dancing music in the Central foyer every evening 5-6 then DJ during dinner hours. Music later either in foyer or in Sky Lounge. Dance classes every morning in Sky and deck dance/Zumba twice a day for 30". Our White Night party got shifted inside due to high winds. First week only 33% capacity and pretty quiet. Second week 65% and lots of younger sailors so it was more energetic.
  6. That is right - so usually seems to fall on day 2 and 6 as they are often sea days. Yes, you do get night 7 to be sad we are getting off 😎
  7. We upgraded to Aqua for a very reasonable fee. We will get the CC points but not AI perks.
  8. Such an easy walking port. Straight uphill from the dock is One of the two forts on the ocean side. It is a National Park so bring your card if you have one. Then walk along the ocean, visiting the hauntingly beautiful cemetery and finally up to the second fort. From there we wander through the colorful buildings looking for locals heading into a tiny restaurant and eat a bite.
  9. Juneau - bus out to Mendenhall Glacier and hike. Buy those tickets at the dock. With family we have rented a car and added stops including Alaska Brewing Company for a taster flight. skagway - we love to hike around the lakes as well as out to Jewel Gardens. With family (6 of us) we rented a van and drove the Yukon Highway up to Emerald Lake - you will see so much similar to the train at a much lower cost than 6 train tickets.
  10. Agree - we did a tour from the port (with lots of buses going the same way). Tour guide is miked so it was easier to hear as it was very busy at the Alhambra. Weather was perfect in October.
  11. On our cruises out of Amsterdam this summer they collected passports and customs came on board our final sea day to "interview" each of us (actually walk by and say hello). We were off the ship at 6:30 the next morning and at the airport by 0700. Rotterdam will be similar in travel time.
  12. Easy to buy the ticket at the train station using a credit card. Once in Amsterdam you can purchase tram ticket - be sure to enter in the correct door and validate your ticket. Love the quick trip from Rotterdam to Amsterdam, enjoy the lovely bit of greenery.
  13. Agree - the description matches what we saw on the Apex in Europe in August. I was surprised as we had heard in the past about how nice it was to eat there after a long day.
  14. There are many good videos on Virgin cruises. New and shiny with innovative ideas in design. Food is reported to be very good. For me many of the furniture designs are very low seating - problematic for more senior sailors but we are not their target demographic. We have several friends who cruised on Viking and had a great time, none of them are remotely pretentious.
  15. We look mainly at travel costs and Seattle works best for us (less expensive and better options to get home in 2 flight segments). We have sailed out of Vancouver as well and it is nice but that terminal can be very hectic as well. Pier 66 in Seattle was perfect for a light passenger sailing. Have sailed Pier 91 several years and it is hectic getting into the front of the terminal (we tend to hop out and walk which is not everyone's choice. Once inside we were on board quickly so the actual terminal did not make an impression.
  16. The spa is not named Persian Gardens therefore our Elite benefit does not apply. I was surprised that when I paid for an expensive treatment on the Apex even that did not grant me access to use the sauna and steam room as I would at a spa on land.
  17. That is what we have seen - we paid to upgrade to Aqua but it does not become AI like purchasing Aqua at full fare.
  18. You will still get your Elite minutes. When you go to sign on the choice will be streaming (Elite minutes). Once we used ours up it will revert to the other WiFi option. Each Elite should create a sign on and you will get your 90 minutes.
  19. The coffees are covered by the Classic package as well as soda and water as far as non-alcoholic. Some juices may be covered but I am not sure.
  20. Just notified that we would need CoVid test within two day of sailing on the Anthem of the Seas (sailing from NJ on May 1) also vaccine required for everyone over 12. Not sure which country on this itinerary require it but that was our notification.
  21. Your classic package includes almost everything that the Zero does - excluding vitamin water, Red Bull and smoothies in the spa cafe. I would call again to talk to someone else if you are trying to downgrade the Classic to zero proof. Since it is a different code than classic, with the AI program that may be an issue.
