Louisiana is the same. State IDs for residents 60 and older are free and permanent. I don't know if they are REAL ID compliant. I am nowhere near 60 years old. I have never had a need to find out. For those 59 and younger, it is renewed every 6 years. As of August 2022, renewal was $27 at the actual OMV for a REAL ID compliant card.

I disagree with the party crowd statement. I go on mostly four and five day cruises and mostly out of New Orleans. People say this alot, and I have never seen it.

The 8 day 5/8/17 sailing on the Legend had lunch on the day we visited Dawes Glacier in Endicott Arm. Ships frequently visit Endicott Arm instead of North or South Sawyer Glacier in Tracy Arm in May due to ice blocking the entrance. Some people got onto an excursion boat to get closer to the glacier, but we were never in a port that day. This was the third day of the cruise, and it was the day after a sea day. We were in Skagway the next day at 7:00am. The lunch had very limited choices, and they were really crappy if you disliked more than one ingredient. There were two or three appetizers and I think four entrees, but I don't remember if dessert was offered. One of the appetizers was a cold soup, and one of the entrees was a burger. The burger was better than the burgers on Lido, although that didn't take much. All of the choices seemed quick to prepare or easy to mostly prepare ahead of time. It was open seating.

I would guess that Carnival has set boarding groups for each time slot, and that they don't change the numbering to match the first slot. Their IT infrastructure might not be able to handle changing numbering. That or it is a cost cutting measure. Or both.

I was on the Valor in November 2022 and the Glory in February 2023. Both had real golf balls. Balls were blown around on both ships. I quickly learned to put the ball on one of the nails/screws or against the side of the pad, preferably near a corner. The nails/screws create slight dimples in the pad. The edge of the pad slightly gripped the ball. This didn't stop all movement, but it made it much more manageable. Anywhere else at the hole was a crapshoot.

I can't speak for the Elation specifically, but I remember the Fantasy showing movies in the comedy lounge. Other than the main lounge, I can't think of another area on a Fantasy class ship where they could show movies.

I have been on several Carnival cruises where the port taxes and fees went up since booking, but I have never had to pay the increased amount.

It isn't open for supper. It isn't a paid venue. Also, Cucina del Capitano is actually an expansion of the Pasta Bella concept. Pasta Bella came first.

On the 2/5/23 sailing, the balcony door for cabin 6282 on the Glory stayed open on its own. It took more effort than usual to open. Once open, it didn't budge no matter how windy it was. It only closed when I pushed it shut. I wasn't trying to leave it open.

The lounge is open, but it was only available to wedding guests for the 2/5/23 Glory sailing.

From at least November 2015 to sometime in 2018 or 2019 you could check in right after booking. It then changed to 90 days, not paid in full.

I don't have an unlimited data plan. I have a 5GB plan. My mom is on my account, and she doesn't even have a smartphone to be able to use the data plan. I've offered more than once to get her a smartphone, but she refuses every time. Also, I have paid to be able to use the wifi from the moment I get on the ship until the moment I get off. I want what I have paid for.

Everyone seems to be forgetting or not realizing that you get your folio number when you get your card. To get your folio number before that, go to Guest Services.

The lowest minimum bet I have seen on penny slots since 2016 is $0.20. The minimum bet is actually one cent per line. The lowest minimum bet I saw on the Valor in late November 2022 was $0.30. There was no penny slot machine that allowed you to play just one line. The only one line machines cost at least $0.25(likely more than that). There were no $0.08 machines.

You can go to deck three to see the water. I don't go for the musical acts. I don't go to the dance club. I don't drink alcohol or coffee. Because of these things, I never notice rowdiness since I spend alot of time in my cabin. On the Valor, I only go to the welcome show, love and marriage show, and the Deal or No Deal show. I hate America Rocks and Country Road. I have never heard any of the songs in Country Road. Epic Rock is just so much better than America Rocks. They aren't even in the same league. On my last cruise on the Valor, service in the dining room was extremely slow, but the food wasn't bad. I don't eat steak. I was about 10 minutes late on the third night(8:15pm seating) for reasons I don't remember, so I expected to get my food later than the others in my section. I wasn't late by choice. By late, I mean 10 minutes past the official start time. The doors likely opened about 5 minutes before the official start time. At 9:05pm, the people that arrived on time still didn't have their entrees. There were two booths, one 6 or 8 person table, and one 2 person table(my table) in my section. There were only 7 people total. I didn't receive the first of my two appetizers until 8:50pm. I got tired of waiting, so I left and never went back. I haven't witnessed any discrimination or hatred out of New Orleans or Mobile. I did, however, see about half of the theater walk out when the two guys were singing during the welcome show on the Inspiration on the 8/15/16 sailing out of Long Beach.

The time on the river will be cooler at any time of year, even if New Orleans isn't. I only cruise out of the South November-February because of the generally cooler temperatures. I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. With the exception of late December 2013 - late October 2014(southern Missouri), I have lived here since late August 2004. Humidity sucks. I was born in the winter and grew up in places that got snow every year(Memphis(TN), La Vista(NE), Mesquite(TX), Mauldin(SC), and Simpsonville(SC)). I can pack less clothes than a summer cruise since I won't be sweating as much. Unless I was given one heck of a deal(free or nearly free), I will only cruise from the west coast in the summer.

There were a couple classes on the Freedom 1/15/22 sailing. I was on the Radiance 8/29/22 sailing and Valor 11/28/22 sailing, and there weren't any classes.

I would prefer Sprite, but Sierra Mist and orange juice doesn't taste terrible. I order a virgin mimosa at the diamond and platinum party before ordering a peach smoothie. I don't know what a Sierra Mist mimosa would taste like if you added alcohol. I don't drink alcohol.
