  1. remember to tip the driver and tout guide separately. I think $2 per person for guide and $1 per person for drive is enough unless they did extra things like stops and gave great information,
  2. The Jewel is a Radiance class ship that has lot of glass for viewing the sea. I have sailed on her sister Serenade to Norway and Baltics. But I am booked on the NCL Star that starts in Iceland and goes around and then over to Greenland. It is June 21,2024 and stays in Iceland area. For Norway I would look at the Jewel OTS out of Amsterdam that is 12 nights and goes up to the Artic circle. It sails this itinerary August 10th, 2024. I ALWAYS feel it is best to concentrate on 1 area and get as much bang for buck. The Star is smaller ship and can get into the smaller ports.
  3. interesting comment as the word HOG does mean to use or over use or take more than a fair share, Might be fun to come up with a new term for folks to who stuff on chairs and then disappear. I like perhaps saying they are CHAIR STEALERS......
  4. oh yes I did call and I booked the EPIC next year for Greece since I have never been there. I told the lady why I was changing and she chuckled and said she understood and is hearing others not happy as well.
  5. yes I will be on the Icon just to experience it. I actually do like being around kids and that is why I like to sail Disney too. But this point system is for in a way a gimmick. I rather like spreading my dollars around all the cruise lines (except Virgin and HAL)
  6. I would suggest going on an Oasis class ship and then sign up in advance for the all access tour. It is worth it. But these days no ship goes into the engine room. But the Bridge and the Engin Control room with all the computers as well as the kitchen are really fun.
  7. Alaska is always about the itinerary. Sounds like you have perfect itinerary and to change just for some snacks or treats would be soo very wrong. Keep what you have. I suggest you consider a cruise in 2025 on the ships that have Grand Dutch Cafe.
  8. Wow you actually feel asleep during "Burn the Floor". I mean that is a noisy show.
  9. but do book it. SPA on newer NCL ships are really worth it and especially for the Thass pool. Other cruise lines do not compare to NCL for the Entire Thermal Spa area. I did it on Escape and Bliss.
  10. well at least you are honest and probably provided a laugh. I would be interested in knowing how the room steward is towards you now that you raised a flag even if it turned out to be wrong. Gotta really make sure before reporting something as it could affect the steward's review.
  11. I like the soup and the tortellini. Honestly this menu is better than say the Italian menu on Royal Caribbean's italian restaurant. I am sailing on Grand Princess out of Vancouver and I will make sure I book this place.
  12. and usually this is fine but for say Caribbean islands, if you get left behind it can be an issues and take longer to get clearance. But at least Canada is right next door and so that would be the one time just having a passport I would be comfortable with. But I do have a passport and I take it along.
  13. I will miss watching the SKY leave Port Everglades and playing the Love Boat theme. I guess Sky is one of the few ships that left FLA in March for Europe. A lot of ships scatter to Europe of Alaska mid April
  14. some day down the road there will be way too many pinnacles. I don't think children need to be getting points just my opinion.
  15. I watched on CNBC and I thought his answer was not very good when reply to why is the stock price is down when business is supposed to be good. I mean a bit embarrassing the value of the stock.
  16. remember there are 3 versions of this dinner. Wondering and hoping not to get a repeat from another ship.
  17. oh good to hear. I am on the Edge in August from Barcelona and I will check out the tasting menu. Hoping no raw fish like they have on RCI tasting menu.
  18. I bet a lot of folks chuckle and say to themselves, does NOT apply to me. I find the deck loungers low and hard to get out of. I would never be a good chair hog.
  19. For me every balcony room I have had creaks and the balcony whistles in between the slats. I find the interior rooms to be quiet.
  20. I do not think they would want to do this. They sometimes are barely even at their desk and work little hours as it is. I think any more staff just wants to see smiles and positive comments.
  21. yes I had him last year on Allure. I felt at the time he seemed not quite well. Sorry to hear he has passed
  22. Brrr. Nice to see Finland making ships again. After Allure they moved to France
  23. I kinda of agree because if both parents get points it is because they paid for it not the kids. I think the kids should get half points.
  24. ya I am glad I DO NOT like the loungers that are hard to get in and out of. No way would I ever fight for one of them. I like chairs. But early birds are in every aspect of cruising that includes meals and shows. It is just the way it is. Same thing with getting off for shore excursions. Some folks will get off early and head to bus to grab a seat early. This I have done. I make sure I am at the top of the theatre and walk very fast. I even see others trying to out race me to the bus. So funny but it is the way it is. The mentality is "I paid my money and I want every bit I can grab".
