  1. For others with the same problem...the first time I tried the above instructions it didn't work. I needed to log all the way out, open a new tab and log back in again, then my points were viewable. Thank you @Snoopycollector!
  2. I was out reading on our balcony when an excited security officer knocked on the door and rushed past my husband to catch me, except I'm a hardcore non-smoker. It was the guy in the next cabin. There is at least one crew member who takes this job very seriously. Never smelled it again and I tend to live on my balcony so I think he got the message.
  3. We did the UDP on Radiance for 11 nights in October. We went to Samba twice. It's a lot of food. I think seven different types of meat? When we went back the second time I just asked for my two favorites. I like the cheesy bread thing there too, sinfully good. The service was very friendly. It would be a nice treat for meat lovers with big stomachs. As for the other restaurants, I like Giovanni's on Radiance more than on other ships. The branzino was my favorite. Chops was as expected. We were regulars at Izumi, fun staff. The specialty restaurants on our sailing were virtually empty for whatever reason. Sorry, I don't remember if there were special deals.
  4. I don't know if other travel insurance companies do the same thing but Aon delayed my relative's return to the US because it deemed the foreign hospital adequate. The care was not in question, but the expenses were adding up and it was a big run around with the primary insurance having to pay first, and of course this was definitely out of network. They wanted the patient to fly home commercial while he was still an ICU patient. Eventually they paid for private medical air transport back to the US but it took a lot of convincing by the medical staff. The incidental expenses such as the hotel and meals for his wife were paid quickly by Aon. Obviously the plane home was very expensive so I understand their business model is to fight that.
  5. Yes, I consider that in the historical range. And yes, those days are gone.
  6. *wet Almost anything goes. Collared shirts would be fancy.
  7. It's hard to say. Historically, I've bought it as low as $18 but those days are gone. I can't imagine it being worthwhile at $30/day but you should consider how many port days and how many beverages you would consume. There are also water bottle packs you can pre-order for your cabin if that's of interest.
  8. One question. Have they also cut back on the constant interruptions asking how they are doing?
  9. While that wouldn't be my cup of tea, it sounds like a lot of fun to have a cruise centered around your interests like that. People pay more than that for one concert so why not get a ship full of bands and a cruise at the same time.
  10. We were required to show a picture (silly) of our negative tests for Hawaii to Vancouver on what was probably the most recent sailing in October. We tested before we boarded our plane for Honolulu and before heading to the ship since we had plenty of tests and would not have wanted to board if we were positive.
  11. The face luggage is brilliant! off to google...
  12. There are also ice and water machines readily available, though you have to pour from a glass into your water bottle. But, yes, readily available at any bar and frequently from a cart as you disembark for excursions which are great to throw in your bag.
  13. My frequency of cruising is definitely slowing down now. I used to count on finding bargains at this time of year and they just aren't happening out of Bayonne. If I'm flying to south Florida, it will probably be to go on Virgin again, their food was well above Royal or Norwegian. They don't have the same style of entertainment, not an issue for me but I know it is for some.
  14. I sew elastic in just in case. It's easy to keep the elastic up inside the hat if not needed, and pull it down under you chin when you do. Haven't lost one yet.
  15. Any restaurant can help you get those reservations when you board. Avoid doing so at the restaurant that is open for lunch on boarding day because they will be busy. I like having a plan written down with our names, room and reservation numbers, and any priority reservations if you care about certain times for certain days. Pay attention to port days and how much time you might want for cleaning up and relaxing before dinner. You can always change things later but on busier cruises it's good to have something booked right away.
  16. I booked fairly early on, $3000 for two people in ocean view including tax and fees. I will have to make do with the promenade as my balcony, doubt Royal Up is going to help much on this one. I'm hoping since this one sold so well Royal will try to get a little more creative with Bayonne.
  17. I like deck six close to the forward elevators because it's a quick jog down the steps to get my morning coffee and return to my balcony. With mobility issues, I would echo the response to be near the aft elevators. Elevator waits are all about supply and demand. Avoid high volume times like after a show lets out. This is a big ship and it would be a shame to not be able to move around freely. Have you considered renting a scooter?
  18. I've been checking Royal's website to see if these individual legs are on sale yet. It doesn't appear to be but wow things have gone from bad to worse with their cruise search function. Maybe I just hit it at a particularly wonky time. I do see Valparaiso listed as a departure port now, but no sailings come up. I'm interested in the previous leg which departs from Buenos Aires. Maybe. Airfare to and from South America looks pretty reasonable.
  19. They can have my extra lobster tails and the concierge lounge, but hands off my free laundry! I would be writing a strongly worded email if this happened.
  20. I've been charged more than once but I've caught it before leaving the ship. If you are still onboard when this happens just go to the pool desk and they will take it off.
  21. Sorry for the confusion, I was referring to Toad's comment about Anthem.
  22. 2018? I was on that sailing. I'm sure there's a long thread here somewhere. Never again.
  23. I would do this in a heartbeat if I were retired. Alas, that will be a while. I will consider Buenos Aires to Valparaiso though when the details come out.
  24. This is sad. It's a shame they didn't build in heaters but I guess it's cheaper to just buy new plants?
  25. Oasis is my least favorite WJ. It's just the setup there; the line, the close together tables, the lack of overall space. Radiance Class is my favorite design-wise. Navigator had the most impressive service and food of my recent cruises. Anthem's is solid and reliable.
