  1. That sounds like you had it all! We had to cancel our Princess to Alaska during Pandemic...boohoo the deal was fantastic and I liked how they assigned us to our own travel agent and she kept in touch the whole time...hated to cx. I refuse to sail out of Seattle on principle alone. Vancouver is much cleaner, friendlier and you can't beat Canada Place just walk down an escalator and on the ship...Love it.
  2. Hubbard is our all time favorite glacier and IMHO is better than any in the Bay. THey are all smaller. It depends on which itin one chooses to a great extent.
  3. Exactly, that's why we always book September for Alaska cruises, never disappointed...and delightful weather. I have dozens of ice calving vids and pics. Not a good idea to dun the ship just because conditions weren't exactly conducive to seeing them up close, you might have been on any cruise ship in any location. It's really a crap shoot. This is Hubbard and Dawes blow that:
  4. I got my notice this morning for Sept. '24 cruise. O well it's not that much, but I resent it sorta cuz we never leave the ship anymore there.
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX3fzTYoIKg Another good one
  6. Plenty of places. Good one is in Solarium on the Solarium Bistro patio with tables and chairs, we often go there as I don't want a lot of sun, peaceful and usually plenty of beds, loungers etc. There are two levels, you may have to go up around the bar, but plenty of seating with or without sun...believe me there's no problem unless you have to be on the main pool deck. That's where it can get crowded. This pic is Allure but basically the same. The bar is in the middle upstairs, LOTS of seating up there. We usually sit to the left under the second floor Great video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hQLj3XZeD0
  7. But it wasn't that much, I bought 6 of them at one time, seems like the metal ones were free though (not the spirit but the glass), I only have 2 of them, they were several colors, I got purple ones, different color for different flavors, but that was way back in the early 2000's. I still think I'd like Amaretto or something after dinner wish they still did them.
  8. We have the blue bottom shots and the metal shots, the glass Mexican martinis glasses and several Coke takers.
  9. I wish they'd put one in my cabin. We have a DeLonghi Magnifica at home and we go through Lavazza Espresso 2.5 lb bag of whole beans every 3 weeks or so. Order them 3 at a time off Amazon for $14.99 a bag. I don't consider it bitter at all. But if you don't like Euro espresso you might. Lattes and Cappuccinos have lots of milk or cream (we're Keto as well) in them so the coffee has to be strong. Love me my Lattes and Cappuccinos! I think Starbucks is fine if you order quad shots! LOL
  10. Last 5 Numbers on this code are 6208 Set Sail Pass shows Muster station D02. So its 6208, yay we are outside.
  11. This this this No problem, go when you step on the ship though. Or to one of those tables Beach was talking about. The restaurant wasn't closed to you only the packages online.
  12. No problem, I love stuff like this, I'm a Do seek the treasure kinda gal.
  13. But if some joe blow books the only balcony left and we're not assigned what do they do? In fact, thats how we got one of our virtual interior GTY on Navi back in the day. They released a few rooms THE DAY BEFORE BOARDING really cheap, so I jumped on it, it was serendipity. We grabbed my Inlaws and all 4 of us dropped everything to go. It was a fun cruise too. Didn't know what cabin until we were pulling into the terminal the next morning. It was a 5 day. They had just installed the new virtual cabins as testing and we got to meet the people who installed them. I was so pleased we got to experience that.
  14. Here's another rhetorical for you...GTY says "or better". Has anyone ever gotten assigned a better category...in other words oops they ran out of Balcony category so you went up to a suite, even JR. There is only 1 JR suite left on this ship, but the Aqua Theater is available and 6 Crown lofts over the sports deck. Suite GTY is $2394 pper. Would that be something??
  15. Today, day before check in there are only 2 Central Park balconies (those were cancellations because they were not available Saturday) and 1 outside balcony. The only cabins left on the ship are window cabins just 8 of them. So this ship is booked to the max. Of course they'll retain a handful for emergencies, but she's packed. Should be interesting tomorrow when we find out where they put us...I'm so excited, this is the cheapest balcony we have in many years. Back in the day, we got a couple below $1000 but they were flukes. Good luck everyone.
  16. Here's a question for you Mike. So our GTY has been showing as our old INTERIOR CABIN on our Royal Up bid page. This morning it reflects OCEAN VIEW BALCONY GTY. I am interpreting that to mean we are getting an outside cabin not a Boardwalk neighborhood cabin (as that is the term describing the Boardwalk Balconies). All the outside facing balconies are labeled OCEAN VIEW BALCONY. Do you think I'm right? Also, your formula with the code comes of the Set Sail Pass. Sometimes you don't get those docs on Checkin day right? Seems like I remember getting them later after I filled out the Check In info...so how can I see the cabin #?
  17. But they have never checked ours in literally years! I carry ours in a special twin wine bottle carrier. They never even look at crossways anymore. That has been our experience for at last the last 5 yrs.
  18. I have brought our bottle into the MDR already opened and no corkage fee was applied at all. Just sayin
  19. On a mockup now and guess what? They took the balconies OFF the Guarantee already! OMG! Am I glad we snagged it at $499pp, now $1515 pp. Wow, lots of peeps responded to this deal! Well now just to wait until next Saturday when checkin opens to see if we've been assigned. I'll be more than happy with a Boardwalk in any event. Just checked again and a lot of the Boardwalk cabins that were available this morning are now gone, so I would bet $$ we got one. It's OK, happy we're there instead of inside for so little. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth????
  20. Minimum bid on balconies on our Sept. 3rd cruise went from $175 to $195 within a week. They opened balconies to guarantee for $499 pp today! So when I ran a mockup it ended up $200 cheaper than our inside cabin cost us initially! We really got a deal! $82 and the Royal Up minimum would've cost us $390 and then we might not have even won our bid! This was great!
  21. Just booked an balcony this morning, saved us a ton of money and about 1/4th the bid we made on RU. Woohoo. Anyone have experience with switching cabins after assignment? There are Boardwalk balconies on 3 decks I'd prefer to switch to deck 9 Ocean views. They are closer to the elevators and I have a wheelchair to contend with.
  22. Just want to say that constantly checking your cruise for reductions can pay off in a big way. Our cheapest minimum bid would've cost us $140 and gotten us into a deck 3 port hole from an interior. Today, they reduced the balcony guarantee on our cruise to $499 so we did a swap that cost us a fraction of the bid we offered and now have a balcony for $82 difference. Win win! The only downside is it could be a Boardwalk, but hey that's OK. Maybe a chance to switch that too. So check those prices. Much better than waiting and getting zip on the day you board.LOL
  23. We're on the Arkansas/Missouri border LOL but at least we can fly free with our AMEX pts. Otherwise, we'd be one and done with Either Galveston or NOLA. One of these days we say we're gonna camp on the way down to Florida but the daylight is burning.....
