  1. And that is their fault, not something NCL can be blamed for.
  2. I disagree. It is a time that the cruise industry should be doing everything extra to keep passengers. Our first cruise was in 2002 for our 25th anniversary. It was from Barcelona. The entire travel industry was rebounding from the horrific events of 9/11. When we arrived in Barcelona early on a flight with many on the cruise, the cruise line took all of us who had booked their transfers on a tour of Barcelona with no extra charge. We did a very similar cruise 10 years later for our 35th anniversary, and we and everyone else just waited for embarkation in what was basically a large warehouse instead.
  3. No, they do not, but we were each given a $25 credit off for booking a 1 day deviation.
  4. Good advice except that the OP said the friend did NOT buy insurance. Buying insurance is a must, not only for this situation but also for the possibility of a medical emergency.
  5. Thanks, we are also on the Prima, but on August 8th. I see we (at least as of now) are in the cruise port Amsterdam. I saw one other ship will be there, but when I checked it out it has less than 200 passengers so should not have much of an impact.
  6. Jurisdiction if the ship was at sea would be with the flagged state, the Bahamas. If ithe ship was at port, it would also be with the country where it was docked.
  7. Did you read the post #82 by @chengkp75 who had a career as a chief engineer on cruise ships? The FBI to be involved must be INVITED. The Captain is the one with the authority on a cruise ship and can have security inspect a cabin.
  8. Your Constitutional rights do not travel with you to a foreign country. If you do not believe me, ask Brittany Griner.
  9. One thing to know is that an online TA may not be able to give you his or her best price online. We use an online TA, though I call him. One year we decided to cruise to Alaska from Seatle. We found 3 cruises on his agency's website that fit what we wanted. I called to get pricing, and the one that was the most expensive on the website was actually the one he could sell for the lowest price. Cruise lines forbid lower prices from being posted, but they can be quoted over the phone. For instance, a cruise line may allow discounting but not allow posting the discount. A TA may have reserved several cabins and be able to charge a lower fare, but no to post it online.
  10. A politician selling his or her vote??? Why would anyone think that happens? 🤣🤣🤣
  11. I don't think Georgia law applies in the Bahamas.
  12. Thank you for chiming in. Somehow many believe that their US Constitutional rights follow them wherever they go. As you pointed out, it is a foreign flagged ship and the Captain is the one in charge.
  13. OK, you have a lot of options making things from scratch, but how well does that translate to eating on a cruise ship? Do you expect them to have all those special ingredients? Do you have to questsion every food you order?
  14. I guess then it has changed since we had a British Isles cruise in 2014. We just got on line before it opened and were among the first to get in. It is definitely a must see.😊
  15. That does sound challenging. Good luck. What can you actually eat besides oatmeal, fruit, and salads?
  16. Yes, that "pass by" also caught my attention. All those places passed by seemed interesting. If someone has done that tour, I hope they respond and tell us if they really just pass by or at least stop at those places for a bit.
  17. An even easier way not to have the medallion shipped is to not book a Princess cruise.
  18. And that captain (he does not deserve a capital letter) is in JAIL. What he did is not typical.
  19. The traditional muster drill has returned on NCL. The new drill which came along with the Covid crisis is still provisional. SOLAS could withdraw its approval if it does not deem it safe enough to deal with a real emergency.
  20. Yes, we realize those 2 museums are close as the last time we were in Amsterdam we stayed in a hotel very close to both. And DW discovered there is a swimming pool very near to the Rijksmuseum.
  21. And some of those who "outgrow" Carnival might end up on Princess, HAL, or Cunard keeping the money in the Carnival Corporation.
  22. Well, the old saying is you can't get out of death and taxes. Unless your new church you just created guarantees you eternal life, I guess the death part still applies.
  23. Same tour, though in August. The question I had when reading the description was do they stop at the places they describe on the way, or just walk past. They all sounded interesting.
