  1. Uh, oh, the first negative other than it's hard to get from point A to point B. But I am sure you will figure that one out, while these extra charges might plague you the entire cruise. 😒
  2. I agree that Carnival and Royal are looking at the bottom line by keeping customers happy. And as I wrote before, I think they also profit by not having to close down the bars.
  3. Whether you are right or not, it is still preferable to do it in advance and safer to have it in writing.
  4. We were once on a cruise with a very small roll call. The person who started the roll call posted pictures from a previous cruise including her very cute children. I had commented how cute the children were. Anyway, I was half out of our cabin holding the door open for DW when the cute kids walked by followed by her and her husband. I said what cute kids, and then her screen name. She stopped in her tracks, and said "Ontheweb?" I said "Yes, in the flesh." (though I was actually in clothes 😊, but I meant not virtual.
  5. Probably accepted as a way to make money as they do not have to close the bars like they do during the real muster drill!
  6. Sid, could you do some food porn of vegetarian dishes and fish entrees before the cruise is over?
  7. 👍 though I wonder if the pilot can really follow through on that. I am sure he knows that there will be at least one passenger unwilling to call his bluff.
  8. Did you introduce yourself as Len Quixote or just Lenny. And did he use Navy Bank Teacher as his name?
  9. And you will hopefully tell us of your success then. I don't know if the rejection was due to your UK residence or just some employees interpreting rules differently than others.
  10. The important words in your post are REASONABLE and COURTESY. And even when asking in advance, and getting permission, it is best to have it in writing as a snag might still show up.
  11. Since there has not yet been a need for a real call for muster (as there has been with the old way), how can this have been established? It has been asserted by a few cruise lines. And it has been accepted by you as gospel truth.
  12. Uh, oh, I have the world's worst sense of direction. On our very first cruise, I got us on a train going the wrong way and we never got from the port to Florence. Luckily, DW figured it out, and we at least saw Pisa. (We did get to Florence 10 years later from another cruise.) And it was at least partially DW's fault as after being married to me for 25 years, she knew how bad my sense of direction is. And in my defense, the signs were all in Italian. 🤦‍♂️
  13. I can't believe no one has ever told you it is a SHIP, not a boat. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You may have capitalized it, but a boat is much smaller than a SHIP.
  14. Yes, tell them you are glad that they consider safety first. As long as you don't want the Covid change of e-muster to stay, do you also want vaccine requirements and Covid testing to stay? They were all part of the same change, and for the same reason?
  15. No one has ever been denied boarding for lack of a library card. There have been potential passengers denied for no vaccine card, and the rules do change, sometimes quickly.
  16. I believe on most of the NCL ships the muster stations are in lounges, not outdoors. And good for them putting safety ahead of "the only Covid change passengers want to not go away is the real muster drill". And BTW, it has been mentioned in CC in the Norwegian cruise forum.
  17. YAY, finally getting onboard! Did you have to watch a muster video pre-cruise? I am reading that NCL has gone back to the traditional muster. Could you see if there is a deck that you can walk aroung the ship? DW and I both like to walk. Will you let us all know if the stewards make towel animals? My TA told me that an experienced TA from his office was on the Prima and said it was the most beautiful ship he had ever seen. I hope you can confirm that opinion.
  18. The problem as I see it is there is no middle ground anymore. There are no smaller ships except for the real luxury lines. And the cruise lines are building them larger and larger. Our smallest RCL ship was the Splendour of the Seas, no longer in their lineup. Our smallest NCL ship was the Norwegian Crown, no longer in their lineup. Our smallest Princess shop was the Ocean Princess, no longer in their lineup. Our smallest Carnival ship was the Fascination, no longer in their lineup. Our smallest HAL ship was the Maasdam, no longer in their lineup. Some of these ships are still sailing with other lines.
  19. Cruise day finally arrives! And the excitement and anticipation mount! Have a great one!
  20. Yes, get a good night's sleep, and start telling us the actual cruise story starting with the embarkation. Too bad your port sucks. Here are a couple of good ones IMHO that we have sailed from. In the Americas--San Juan Puerto Rico and in Europe-Barcelona, Spain.
  21. And some think this may be what at least some cruise lines want---the ship is the destination, not the ports. Our first two cruises were on Royal Caribbean, and then they started building the monstrosities of the seas, and we no longer consider them. But I do know people who only cruise with them.
  22. That is what I expect after reading the not yet posts and now up to arrival in Florida. And he is still liking all my posts. 😊
  23. And that is how we started dancing. I saw dancers seeming to have such a good time on a cruise. Plus it was a nice excuse to hold DW. 😉 After that, at her insistence we started taking lesson.
  24. We were once on a Baltic cruise, and on a sea day which was I forget the exact day but about 6 or 7, I overheard a woman in a laundry room say she finally got her luggage. So it is, or at least can be, delivered to the ship.
  25. This is my first Sid review. And so far it has been great even though he is just now flying to the cruise port. It only has to get better, right? Looking forward to tomorrow and the ensuing days. I jumped on the review because we have a future Prima cruise booked. And it seems he has liked every post I have made. 😊
