  1. Same. It's something to do if there's nothing else to do. But you probably have enough to do getting ready. We might try it again for our Amazon cruise in a couple of weeks.
  2. That's really nice. I wish that would happen to us. We are on the 2nd-last leg of a very long cruise. I look everyday to see what's sold out -- only a couple of things so far. We're on a 5 week journey, which requires a lot of planning and contingency planning as well. Here's hoping you are able to book everything you're interested in.
  3. LOL. That's happened to us before too.
  4. I wonder if it has to do with the number of servers on shift. I have noticed that they do tend to seat everyone in the same area for a 6:00 serving and then another area for a 7:00 serving, etc. To group people together in one area would make it easier on the servers. I don't think we've ever sat on the port side in the restaurant. I will make a point of checking it out in a couple of weeks.
  5. A very good thing. I'm also looking forward to it! Enjoy!
  6. We’re doing the same route in March 2025. Might I ask how you routed your flight home from Bali? To return to Toronto we are thinking we will take Emirates from Dubai as that is a nonstop and Emirates seems to have a good product. Thread drift, but it might be helpful to others too 😊
  7. I think you will have to wait for someone on Cruise Critic who has travelled on Venus and has actually played table tennis or who has seen the set up. But there are several reviews out there. Most of my table tennis balls would end up over the rail. I’ll stick to putting and even that’s not safe for bystanders and wildlife. 😊
  8. …….we headed up to the sports deck to enjoy a few deck games, table tennis and golf putting…… https://www.visitwithus.co.uk/home/visitwithus-viking-cruises-venus-review
  9. I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t eat much at all and it wouldn’t occur to me that I should be compensated by Viking for that. I agreed on the price. That’s the end for me (except for watching the price 😊.)
  10. I sympathize with what you are saying about having to pay for two meal plans. But the thing about Viking is that their ships usually sail full, so they don’t have to give discounts for a solo traveller. It’s possible they would consider a solo discount closer to sail date on more unpopular itineraries where the ships have empty cabins they want to fill. But in our experience, on each of our Viking cruises, the fare has increased substantially closer to sail date. When you booked the cruise, did you realize you would be paying for two?
  11. Going back to what @OneSixtyToOne said, I have had very good luck with the Chat function. One of the people that I chatted with has been my agent for a while now. She's really organized and she alerts me to when new cruises are about to be posted. She also works well with my TA. If I'm just browsing for Viking cruises, I will just go to an online site to see what locations are available. Once we get serious, which is usually fairly quickly, I will then talk to my agent to book it.
  12. I call Viking or use an online cruise booking site. I would post the one I use, but the post would probably be deleted.
  13. In March of last year we boarded in Puerto Rico for a transatlantic cruise. It was very hot and the line was very long with most people standing in the sun. The agents insisted that nobody was to board until 2:00 pm. After standing in line for an hour, my husband called the Viking hotline. The line started to move shortly after that and we were able to board around 12:30. Once we boarded, the crew told us that they were told we had to wait until the immigration people checked everything out and left the ship. After we boarded we noticed the immigration officials having lunch at the Pool Grill. 🤣
  14. @Murt22 Thanks. This excursion goes to the Alaska Raptor Center and then a hike through Sitka National Historial Park, and St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral. After that you can spend time in Sitka on our own. Maybe it’s new because I don’t recall seeing it when we booked the cruise. What time of year was your trip?
  15. We didn't get it either. In fact, we booked a 2026 cruise mid-December. Then I read the promo thread here 3 days later. I sent an email to my Viking agent and asked for the promo. We received a new invoice with $1000 off the previous invoice.
  16. That's great! We were introduced to Mexican Train when we had a place in Florida. The problem with it is that there are no set "rules" -- at least, that's the way it seemed. The "rules" were dependent upon what region of the U.S. you came from. Many arguments ensued, but it was a lot of fun. Happy New Year and enjoy!!
  17. @FetaCheese Happy New Year! Thank you for posting the daily. I noticed a “Mystery Photo Scavenger Hunt”, which we would love, but have never seen it offered on any of our previous cruises. Maybe it’s new and something we can look forward to on our future cruises. Enjoy!
  18. This was the island we enjoyed the most. In fact, we booked a room at a resort twice for 2 weeks on the island and then Covid intervened both times.
  19. We toured with Royston on St. Kitts also. Great guide. There were a few things we wanted to do on St. Kitts and he had it all organized a few days before we docked. We would definitely book a tour with him again.
  20. Yes. We do it all the time. It's still good to have a Viking agent. They know when things are about to happen and can alert you. Our V agent and our TA often work together on our bookings.
