  1. On our September Regatta 7-day cruise the GDR opened at 6 pm and Terrace opened at 6:30 pm (at least that is what Currents said). There is probably no way to know ahead of time so just check Currents every day if you want dinner early. I did still notice a stampede toward dinner during the Captain's party.
  2. Wow, rude....and I thought I was being trollish. I have no idea what your credentials are with either Oceania or technology so your opinions are meaningless to me. Enjoy your high speed internet while I enjoy the waves. Bye.
  3. The sale is just the extra $400-$800 OBC per cabin; everything else is the same as before the sale. By the way, you can't book the cruise only price online (it always includes O-Life even if you remove the air). Use a travel agent or call to get the cruise only fare.
  4. My point is that it appears to me that most O passengers are not interested in accessing or paying for higher quality internet while on the ship. O does surveys of past passengers in addition to the on-board surveys. If passengers want better internet and it is profitable, it will be added. Until then, we get slow internet which is fine with me.
  5. You document it in a claim, but policies and claim methods vary. The insurance company will tell you what is required if it is covered.
  6. When I was researching Azamara I noticed they had more Indian food on the menus. How is it? Also, what in the world is a White Night? I assumed is had something to do with summer solstice, but it appears to be something where people wear white. My spouse and I own nothing white (we're way too messy and accident prone), even my wedding gown had no white (a little ivory but mostly "rum pink"...it was a thing back then 🤪).
  7. ...and put it on a credit card with travel insurance (if you don't already have travel insurance). My insurance will cover the flight if the flight credit is not used (but check your policy).
  8. Relative newbies will also agree. I had no interest in cruising other than the NYC-Southampton run on the QM2 until I found Oceania. Now we're hooked.
  9. Hurray! I can continue to enjoy vacations on O where many people appear to put their phones in the safe as soon as possible (or at least carry it discreetly while in the ship's public spaces).
  10. On O's website the theoretical embarkation time is 1 pm with a departure at 6 pm. Recently everyone has been able to sign up and show up whenever they want (or so it seems with no obvious priority). It may be that O has finally returned to a boarding priority system....possibly upper suites starting at 1 pm, penthouse at 2 pm, non-suites at 3 pm. I'm only guessing since a data point of one is shaky ground. Edit: oops, I forgot the website shows the non-suite boarding time (1 pm), while the priority times are 11 am and noon. So, never mind...I have no clue why 2 pm is your earliest 🤪
  11. Yes, so assuming the current Ticket Contracts are the same or similar to my September contract, O is not in violation of their privacy policy because the passenger has given consent to use facial recognition for health and safety purposes (along with embark/disembark process) which is combined with temperature checks.
  12. ...and in our Ticket Contract where consent was given for our September 2022 cruise: "31. PERSONAL DATA AND PRIVACY: <a. and c. deleted> c. Guest agrees that Carrier may use facial recognition technology to facilitate and expedite Guest’s embarkation and/or debarkation and for health and safety purposes, as further described in Carrier’s privacy policy." So, by agreeing to the contract (i.e., by boarding the ship), we agreed that facial recognition could be used for health and safety purposes.
  13. Interesting. Just out of curiosity I looked at the specialty dining times from a 7-day September Regatta cruise (2nd of 2 7-day cruises, so many stayed from 1st leg). Sure enough, specialties were open 6-9 pm. I don't know if the 6 pm slots were open for pre-cruise reservations since by the time I signed up 7:30 pm was the earliest shared table available on any day. I also noticed the GDR had the same hours, while Terrace did not open until 6:30 pm.
  14. The games are mainstream...like Scrabble or Pictionary (but then we consider Cataan mainstream...such snobs 😉). If you want game store games you'll need to bring your own.
  15. Are you using the info from this page? USPS Priority Mail Express (1-day) is the fast option (not FedEx). https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast.html If you are near Passport Agency/Center, an in person appointment is the fastest way. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast/passport-agencies.html
  16. 😅I am literally choosing our next cabin based on the ease of accessing Baristas. Also check the game room. Puzzles seem to wander.
  17. (Ducking while I say this) We like the Grand Bar, particularly when the string quartet is playing. (Yay! I just noticed the purple lamps are still there) Note to self: do not wear any above the knee dresses to the GDR...ouch!
  18. We were on Regatta in September and ate almost every meal on the ship (except for San Francisco). All of our meals and snacks were excellent.
  19. Isn't this the case for Riviera/Marina? On Regatta we could take the "library elevators/stairs" (deck 10 aft) then walk to Horizons (deck 10 forward) by dodging users on the fitness track (above the pool).
  20. Sorry I can't since it would be against CC rules (i.e., it's on my TA's website, not on O's website). Check with your TA to get similar info.
  21. The T&Cs (on O's website) for this promo are somewhat vague with respect to combinability with other offers. Here is additional info I found (check with your TA though just in case!): Promotion is NOT combinable with <an unnamed consortium to hopefully not break CC rules> amenities. Promotion is combinable with OLife Choice, Premium Economy Airfare, and Oceania Club Benefits, where applicable. Promotion may not be combinable with any other discount, fare, or promotion including but not limited to Hosted Voyages, Groups, Onboard Savings, Cruise Night Offers, AMEX CPP, Amex Gold Card, Casino promotions, past guest discounts, Single Specials, Holiday upgrade offers, Kids Sail Free, Travelzoo, Consumer Event promos and/or any unpublished fares or other special offers. Same place had "Promotion is valid for residents of the U.S. and Canada."
  22. @Robjame It seems like the GDR is closed for lunch at most ports, but I recommend trying it out when they are open on a sea day. In addition to the regular lunch menu, they offer a special sampler focusing on a region/cuisine (like Lebanese) which I love since you get to taste a bunch of different items without getting (too) stuffed.
  23. ...and to continue this thought...according to my last Currents, "Regatta Today" was available all day long on channel 1. The shore excursions info was also available all day on channel 22. No need for the PA to be used except for unplanned (i.e., not in Currents) events.
