Depends on if you want to taste Lobster or Butter, I guess.
I never add butter to my lobster, no matter how it is prepared. I like the taste of Lobster!
Ask if the ship will turn the upper deck lights off. If they won't then you won't see the lights from the ship unless it is a very strong show.
We did a South Atlantic cruise a few years ago and met the Navigator and arranged a "Southern Sky" viewing get together one evening, as many of us wanted to "See the Southern Cross for the First Time" as Jimmy Buffett sings, along with other rare to us constellations. He arranged for the lights on the top deck to be turned off for the show.
Nice location for the cruise and right across the street from an outdoor music venue. You may hear the music from your room if you face that direction. Whether you want to or not! 🙂
Definitely hurricane season. I lived in Boston all my life until last summer. I'd say you have a 15% chance of experiencing waves from a storm that you would feel on the cruise, 5% chance of a reroute, and an even smaller chance of getting stuck in NYC an extra day or two at the beginning of the cruise or returning early.
Plenty of sidewalks and crosswalks and shops and restaurants. Tons of construction in that area, it changes dramatically from season to season, but the walkability has always been good
I can't imagine that port handling two ships at the same time. Not even one 3000 person ship! There just isn't the infrastructure and tour buses and things to do for that many folks at one time.
Lots of options out there. My experience is four years old and operator quality may have changed. Or ask on TripAdvisor where there are lots of local experts.
Arctic Adventures is well regarded on TripAdvisor, which has a very active Iceland forum. You might want to post over there, too. Hopefully it's just an issue with them absorbing the other company
We love the Golden Circle but did it on a minibus for not much higher cost than a Big Bus like most of Greyline's offerings.
Take a look and see if you can do the smaller tour instead. You see the same things, but you aren't waiting for 40 people at each stop to finish with pictures/bathroom/shopping, and you get more time with the guide to ask questions.
Iceland is safe, tourism is their top industry. Use TripAdvisor to find the most recommended agencies, but there are very few bad ones. Don't expect to get off the ship and find tours available, the ships use all the options in most of the ports other than Reykjavik, so book well in advance
Where will you be? We've had lobster rolls in over 50 locations in New England and I'd rank half of them better than any of the chains.
There are a couple folks who post Lobster Roll Quests or Trails on the Maine board at TripAdvisor. Worth checking out.
HI Hostel Boston (near Chinatown) is the only hostel recommended on TripAdvisor. I used to live in Boston and heard good things about it . . . and not good things about other options
