  1. The new shows sound appealing, but far from the best entertainment at sea. Carnival excels at comedy and that is what sets themselves far apart from their competition. Celestial Strings and Voodoo Moon are a step above what is on the majority of the fleet, but Carnival doesn't have the big "Broadway Light" shows that NCL and RCI have on many of their ships and of course don't have the aqua shows and ice skating shows that are on RCI. But, with that being said, the Excel Class is a game changer for the line. We have enjoyed two different B2B's this year on the MG and have 33 nights reserved on the Celebration that we are very much looking forward to.
  2. Great review so far. Just wanted to mention something about the elevators. As you mentioned there are three banks. The front and middle banks each have 8 elevators and the aft bank only has six. The middle bank is usually the ones where you have the longest wait. Regarding the space issue, you can easily fit 9 people in the elevators, 3 people front to back and 3 across. If there is a scooter, it would be 7 people and a scooter. The scooter goes in the middle with up to 3 people on either side and my DH standing behind me. So you can infer that we had first hand experience with this. Four different weeks this year on the MG.
  3. No, they are still closed on embarkation day. But my favorite was at Chibang for lunch with the broth bowls that came in either shrimp, beef or chicken.
  4. And Carnival as well as MSC have upcharge items. All four of the entry level lines.

  6. People are assuming that the starboard side will have city views at each port instead of the port side?
  7. And the upcharge on Celebrity for the better drink package is substantially less than NCL. And the basic package on X includes water and espresso based drinks
  8. As a stock holder I thank you. As well as the powers that be at NCL that hope that many other cruisers like yourself keep blinders on and are not educated as to what the competition offers.
  9. One mention was that the rest of the fleet was going to be changed over in 2023. But of course if the feedback from the Prima regarding the change was overwhelmingly negative, then maybe the changes would not occur.
  10. Go onto the roll call section of cruise critic for the specific cruise you're contemplating about. Ask for one of the roll callers to go onto their account and see if passes are still available for presale or not. If the presales are sold out, you will probably be SOL because any passes sold onboard would be a limited amount and of course sold on a first come first sold basis. It used to be different before, it would be escalated to very difficult because of the limited number available on embarkation day.
  11. From what I have read their reputation is Costa is the European Walmart of the Seas.
  12. The standard package on NCL needs to cover up to 15 vs the standard package on Celebrity because the drink prices on NCL are inflated price wise compared to their competition. NCL charges 16 for Bailey's. Celebrity charges 10. Just saw it on a menu on the Infinity on YouTube from Parodeejay. You also forgot to mention of course that bottled still and sparkling water as well as all espresso based drinks are included with even the basic package on Celebrity, whereas you need to upgrade on NCL in order to get these inclusions. The upgraded program on NCL is nice for those high end champagne drinkers or for those who wish to consume full bottles of lower end stuff. But you're blowing smoke if you think the NCL basic package is better than the Celebrity basic package.
  13. Just checked. Bailey's is 10 bucks on Celebrity.
  14. The pineapple is the best part of the meal. I take a bite in between the different meat courses to sort of cleanse the palate. I save the majority of it to eat as dessert since you get kind of full consuming the variety of meats that are available.
  15. I believe that the upgrade is only offered to those that have the reduced number of dinners included with their FAS. We have a B2B booked on the Prima, with the first week we had two dinners included and the second week we only had one. We were offered the promo for the second week. The reason we had two for the first week was because it was from a group booking with my TA.
  16. Bought it on my PC for the most recent booking that we had that only offered a single meal as part of the FAS promo. If it's under the 120 day mark regarding reservations, don't fret, you can get reservations on board but make sure you do it as soon as you board.
  17. Apology accepted. But seriously, the Mardi Gras and upcoming Celebration and Jubilee have raised the bar. Looking forward to our 18 night B2B on the Beyond in Nov of 2023.
  18. And also the high prices of some liquors compared to what the competition charges. 16 for Bailey's, 16 for Grand Marnier, 20 for Chambord, 23 for Patron Reposado to name a few.
  19. I'm smart enough to spread my vacation dollars over multiple cruise lines. No cruise line is perfect, including your obvious line of choice. Currently have a week booked on the Encore and 25 days on the Prima booked within the next six months. That's why I'm on this board and have to deal with some posters that have blinders on. It's a very small price to pay in order to be educated about the Prima and also pay it forward at times.
  20. You asked what cabin type and you mentioned you were in a solo. I clarified it by adding that insides and oceanviews also only get 1 night. So, if you were already aware, why ask about which cabin type?
  21. Carnival with their Excel Class ships that the Sun Princess is based on has their food options spread all over the ship, with the majority on decks 16 and 8, but other options on 17, 6 & 7.
  22. This 👍. Cold water 🦞 that you're accustomed to and can readily get is not a special treat. The inferior tails that the cruise lines serve are a treat for those that reside in the majority of the US where the good stuff is not readily available.
  23. Your loss. The Excel Class has raised the bar for the largest cruise line in the world.
  24. No need to dress up on Carnival to get their lobster 🦞. On any 6+ day cruise they have all the tail you can eat on their first "elegant" night, which is usually night two. Don't let the name fool you, you don't have to dress up. And if you go on one of their new Excel Class ships, you have three different venues in which to get the tails.
  25. If the guac is on you, will DH lick it off? 😁
