  1. Great, it's your money, spend it as you wish and make those $2000.00 donations on a 5 day cruise. Stockholders like myself thank you.
  2. Never said nor implied that they didn't. It just irks me at times regarding the bragging on the various threads about the free drinks and free inside cabins that they get. And then they try to get stockholder OBC on top of it.
  3. Like I mentioned in a previous post, we already prepaid for Cheers on our next four cruises before the price increase 18 months ago or whenever it was. Would have been nice to get a 10% discount on the final 9 days of our 10 day cruise on the Venezia next year. That 10% discount is nothing for Carnival, if they can afford to give the gamblers free drinks anywhere on their ships they can certainly afford to give a 10% discount to loyal non gambling cruisers. They'll probably make more money in the long run anyway since that discount will spur additional sales from cruisers that would never pay for Cheers.
  4. How about that same picture at 1230-100 on a sea day, when wait times could be over an hour on certain ships?
  5. According to your signature you have 10 cruises under your belt on Carnival to make your own decision as to how edible the MDR food is on Carnival. And it can't be too bad in your opinion otherwise you would not have 3 more future reservations lined up.
  6. You need to just be an AARP member first. You then just make your HAL reservation via them directly or through your travel agent. Depending upon the type of cabin you are getting will determine the amount of the OBC. Anywhere from 50-200.
  7. If it's a unique code, then only the person that it's attached to could use it. If it's a general code, then why not post it so people that heard about the glitch after Carnival shut things down could use it to save a few bucks. We paid for our Cheers on our B2B's on the Celebration next month and again in January before the price increase 18 months ago or whenever it was.
  8. But, is the discount code cruiser specific or is it a general code that could be utilized by many?
  9. Sierra Mist is no longer. Pepsi has changed the name to Starry.
  10. They might be keeping some for those that prefer Rum & Coke instead of Rum & Pepsi. 😄 Expiration dates be damned.
  11. I can see where you're coming from, but since you're from the other side of the pond you are accustomed to a different kind of tipping culture. I wish that the monies were just rolled into the fare and then if someone whether that be a server, a room steward or a bartender goes over and above, then extra monies are extended to them. We do this now, usually with bartenders that serve us continuously over the length of our cruises. But it doesn't feel right to us that we keep the included gratuities attached on those lines that they can be removed while many others remove them. It wouldn't even be an option for us if we ever wanted to since we buy the plus package.
  12. Wasn't that part of Peter Brady's favorite meal with pork chops?
  13. But the manual tipping would only be with the crew you interact with personally. What about the behind the scenes people or what about all the workers that clear the tables in the buffet? They all currently get their little slice of the pie and if the cruise lines went back to the envelope method, those peripheral people would be shut out.
  14. I thought that too, by the third line in my posting, but it really wouldn't be the corp versus the corp since it comes down to Princess vs Celebrity. Since I've never sailed on HAL, it now looks like their package contains the same parameters as NCL. Thought I had gotten an email from them in the past that grats were included. So, I guess it's now down to two lines then, Princess and X. I personally hope that Princess does not pull the gratuities from the package unless they are going to make it mandatory that everyone pays them and they roll the cost into the fare. It irks me to no end when people pull their grats. Have seen it primarily on Carnival and the two times we sailed MSC, Never thought that it would be on Princess, but then I forgot about the percentage of cruisers that sail on Princess from non tipping cultures, unlike those on Carnival. It goes without saying that the line on the last sea day on MSC wraps around the guest services area multiple times with the gratuity pullers.
  15. Pure speculation on my part. Carnival switched over to Pepsi prior to the shutdown. I'm sure there is a no compete clause as to what can be sold on board in the bars and Java Blue, but selling Coke products by the 6 pack or 12 pack as a pre-purchase to your cabin could be a loophole in order for Carnival to sell Coke on board.
  16. Totally different Italian influenced menu. Check some of the live threads for menus.
  17. If it's not just a website glitch, another reason could be that some Coke products are available for purchase before you cruise to be delivered to your cabin. But the current Pepsi products are what are available for purchase on board in the bars and Java Blue.
  18. One thing that I would love to have be made public, but of course would never happen is this. What percentage of the tips that are pulled are from non tipping cultures versus the beyond frugal cheapskates from this side of the pond.
  19. Gratuities are usually optional for those from non tipping cultures and those that are beyond frugal on this side of the pond. Wish they were just rolled into the fare so they couldn't get pulled.
  20. Why would Carnival care? They don't have packages. Now, if you're referring to a change by Celebrity and implying that Princess is watching, then maybe you're right. But Carnival and RCI offer zero packages, but of course Princess and Celebrity do. Also, the packages on NCL and MSC do not include gratuities. Princess, HAL and Celebrity are the only mainline cruise lines that include gratuities with the other package components of WiFi and drinks.
  21. Being retired enables you to cruise often. 40 cruises is a lot compared to many on Cruise Critic. The 55 my DH has now is blown away by many on here, especially over on the Princess threads, which is our new cruise line of choice. Between now and the Venezia cruise, we'll be on the Celebration for 28 days, the Celebrity Beyond for 18 days and the Wonder OTS for 14 days, a total of 8 cruises. Not everyone is aware of the milestone bonus, so that's why I brought it up.
  22. I saw Regal and the double s and my brain went to Regal Princess instead of Regal Empress. But, I hope you do look into a cruise on either the Sun or the Star. They will be about 5K smaller tonnage wise than the Excel Class, coming in at 175, and based on the same platform, but will have 2000 less passengers on board.
  23. So could everyone that didn't hop on the bandwagon. It could be that the code could be only redeemed by those whose glitch filled purchase was cancelled.
  24. Unless there's a specific itinerary on one of the older ships in the fleet we like, the Royal Class and the new Sphere Class will be the only ones we sail on. I noticed in your signature that the Regal was your lone sailing on Princess. We really have enjoyed our past sailings of 14 nights each on the Discovery and the Majestic and have 7 future bookings on the Enchanted, Discovery and the Sun. Their plus package of 60 pppd includes their drinks package, drink tips, wifi and gratuities. It would cost 103 for the same inclusions on Carnival.
