  1. I was so nervous when it looked like FE was making changes when all I wanted to do was check on prices, so I called in. Imagine my reaction when the agent asked "do I have your approval to cancel your current flight to research prices?" I said NO, I only want to compare prices to see if there's something lower. They said they had to cancel the current booking to check. I've been told that every time I've called, so I've finally accepted to just check myself online and backout w/o saving.
  2. Welcome to HAL! There's so much to love about the 'Dam ships. I know you'll find what speak to you. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  3. I'll be following along; cannot wait to read "The Amazing Exploits and Adventures of Jacqui and her CC Friends!" Bon Voyage, safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  4. We're doing our first TP and first visit to Japan next April. I want to try local cuisine, but don't eat seafood of any kind. Will I find food selections challenging?
  5. You can use for one way, round trip, or multi city. Be aware - if you book one way then later want to add a return leg (no matter same or different ciry) you won't be able to do that yourself on FE. You will have to call in for FE to handle. Ugh
  6. Uhm, no - and not even "sorry, no" lol. Congrats on being so close. I have 200+days til 5* - it seems too far away to be achievable, but I will still keep all my points and keep trying 🙂
  7. My experience on every ship since they started the "virtual" masters- let the entire safety video play and it would not start back up.
  8. @wurm914 welcome to HAL! Lucky you to be on a ship w/Grand Dutch Cafe - I might sleep there if they let me. The Bossche Bol is probably the pastry you're referring to - it's a cream filled puff pastry dipped in chocolate. We share between us and still have leftover, they're so big. The apple pie is also large enough to share. With sandwiches & soup on the menu (no charge), too, it makes a great lunch option. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise! And do make use of the laundry service!!
  9. YES!! HaAL laundry is the best - a game changer on how we pack, for sure. They take great care and honor special requests.
  10. @FlaMariner @PCruzer no worries about giving "them" ideas - this is exactly what has happened to us the last 3 times we booked an itinerary that included Key West, Bimini or Bonaire. Sometimes they stay on the itinerary sometimes past boarding, then get pulled. We know refer to Bimini as "Bummini" cuzed we're bummed we won't go and just know we will NOT be going to Key West or Bonaire so we spare the disappointment and save the excitement for something else. Like a 5pm arrival in Aruba 😞 Deep down, I believe the cruise line wants to provide the best itineraries it can, but part of me says they're doing what they know to do to fill seats - either way, it bites.
  11. Would you mind looking at the bottom of your new invoice details (the one you got after you made the payment) and see if it says anything about being nonrefundable as of now? Since you aren't yet at either of the dates you mentioned, it should still show refund % w/dates. That answers the move to/becomes nonrefundable question. Thanks!
  12. So what he's saying, is if you forget the fancy CO bag w/the highly functional mesh pockets, the hike to/from the pools to retrieve it is even longer and the orange line card may blow away in windy, rough seas.. Best to stay low and forward...
  13. Hi - glad you have mostly enjoyed your cruise, so far. Would you elaborate on why you would not select HAL again if there were other options? Thanks much!
  14. Hey @Alphen we have done Peggy's Cove and Halifax through the ship, but don't know exactly which tour vs the one you're looking at as it was a couple years ago. Last week; however, we did a private tour that was outstanding. Barry O'Keefe and his partner Jim do tours that they will customize for you in time of day & length of tour. I have reached him through: 902.880.6382 and barryokeefe55 at gmail dot com. Either him or Jim are an excellent choice, IMO. Price was definitely better than the ship cost; his communication was excellent. I will use him again and consider him a sound alternative to a ship tour. They do book quickly, so be sure to reach out to him well in advance if you're considering it. We toured Halifax, went to Peggy's Cove & Titanic Cemetery (which I did not think I wanted to visit, but am glad I did) and as a bonus also went to the site of the Swiss Air memorial. That is a truly moving site that I don’t think is part of any ship tour. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  15. Well, we knew you would and didn't want to steal your thunder. 🤭 One should always mention the mesh bottle pockets on the CO bag - they really are a handy feature.
  16. I've had some completed in days, but also some that took and follow up. I would send a follow-up message from the same thread you sent the original email so it's all together asking for an update.
  17. I enjoy my plates and use them frequently. Always make me smile and remind me of some random good cruise experience.
  18. Ooh coffee, not-young 'uns and frugality all together in one day - perfectly suited for celebration! I haven't had coffee yet, so this may be my hint to get up and head to the kitchen. After the travel fiasco of Fri/Sat, I'm fully aware of the meaning of the quote - all I care to do is nothing and put off everything else 😕 😞 Meal & drinks sound good. Not been to the port. Debating on going up to the minor emergency clinic or waiting til PCP opens tomorrow - I think I've got an URI and believe it needs to be addressed before going into surgeon office Wed. It will take 6-8 weeks to get rescheduled if I have to change the appt. He needs to check the status of my shoulder and I'm very interested in his opinion of progress on the frozen shoulder; I feel like I'm making progress, but really want to know where I am on his scale to know if I need to step it up or keep going as is. I think maybe the MEC would get me started today on meds rather than waiting til tomorrow for PCP - 1 day can make a huge impact. but goodness I feel so bad the thought of getting out is just not appealing. Maybe if I get up for the coffee I can motivate enough to get out the door, maybe? 🤕 Prayers and positive thoughts for all.
  19. It will not so long as you back out and close the browser w/o accepting any changes. However, if you call into FE to inquire about a price change, they will cancel your current booking to research new rates. So, best to do it yourself online. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  20. Thanks for asking both of these questions - I am not able to provide insight, but am extremely interested in learning what those w/experience can offer due to upcoming EU, TA & TP cruises. TIA to fellow Dailyites who can offer up some info.
  21. Oh that's awful - thanks for the education and update. Will continue to hope for improvement for you.
  22. We enjoyed that last week - the special delivery was a nice unexpected surprise!! That's all I can say!
  23. Just call the 800# and give them your booking number; they will be able to confirm the status of your OBC. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
