  1. @Ocean Boy hope your football camp went well. Owen has a senior practice Monday night, and is helping the JR team Tuesday to Thursday. He did some practice kicks in the yard today and was hitting consistent 40-50 yard PATs. He’s looking forward to football. School starts in a few weeks, but hockey tryouts are posted and the 2024 baseball team one will be shortly thereafter.
  2. The hotel view looks great. Looking forward to your take on Freedom and your new to “newbie” friends thoughts on cruising.
  3. That's pretty cool. Over the years we have become friends with Captain Johnny, to the point we have joined him for dinner and some special visits up on the bridge with only my family. On Freedom in July we kept running into the hotel director around the ship. She had friends onboard for the two sailings (3/4 day). They were beside us on the suite sundeck at sail away, sat right beside us at the Quest, at Cafe Promenade, and she was with us for park of the B2B turn around. On every port day she greeted guests returning to the ship. We became familiar faces over the 7 days, without saying much more than the following "hello, we meet again, and how are you today", with a bit more joking each time. As it turns out her friends were on the same flight as us to Detroit, and they were continuing on to Croatia. We had one final hello/good-bye that none of were expecting.
  4. Fingers crossed that you never need to speak with them, other than to say a casual hello in passing.
  5. You can ask the concierge but their office is behind Guest Services. When I had an issue staying on deck 17 I asked for HD at guest services.
  6. Lisa, Owen and I went out to the Keg the other night. I had the blue cheese wedge, lobster gratinée, and bone in rib steak with garlic mashed potatoes.
  7. I’m surprised the link worked. 🙃
  8. Back in 2017 a car dealer I know had two buyers waiting for the latest version of the Ford GT (2017 model) if he could get them. The price, $1.2 million when the base price was $400,000. He fulfilled the orders. Agreed. We might have to find something more practical for Owen in the next 6 months or so.
  9. Me too, and I missed the first post about it.
  10. Am I the only one who quickly looked at this thread title and thought it said “Talking Suitcases”. 😂
  11. We found it to be a great tasting meal. It was the best deal on the ship, and compared to Chops as of late. It’s probably still a “deal” with the price hike.
  12. @Goodtime Cruizin I can’t remember if I said it yet, thanks for your feedback and welcome back to cruizin.
  13. High school baseball is barely a thing in Canada. Owen bypassed it to do soccer last year and rugby this year. I agree with you.
  14. This weekend we spent all our time at our local ball diamond. It was Owen’s year end tournament. They were ranked 2nd in standings for the season, and after 5 games this weekend they lost in the finals to the top placed team. The division is 16U, but the team that won is made up of 15U AAA players. They have to play up an age bracket. They practice 3 times a week all year, play no other sports, and pay $5k each to play on that team on top of tournament fees, travel costs etc. To give you an idea, they have 2 players for every position and some pitchers that only pitch. The rumour is they have a total of 10 that can pitch, from the field as well as the players that only pitch. On a side note, they also have 3 full uniforms, and a group of coaches IMO do not sound like nice coaches. All of that said Owen’s team lost 8-4. The opponent, prior to this game, only had 2 runs scored against them this weekend over 3 games. Not a bad performance for Owen’s team, a C centre team with 13 players available this weekend. One is recovering from a broken finger. A great challenge game before provincials coming up on Labor Day weekend. No medals this year, they gave away hats. A nice change. After get got home Owen flaked out.
  15. Dinner last night was pork chops. I just noticed it now, if you look in the reflection you can see the deer weather vane and copper copula on our garage.
  16. That’s a great story. It’s basically how I started, but on a lawn mover at 10. You learn quickly, but you are out in the open. Our fastest tractor goes 23mph in road gear. Now there are ones that have road gears capable of 40mph.
