  1. I've never had dinner in Sabatini's, only breakfast. I always look at the dinner menu for both Sabatini's and Crown Grill, and I always end up choosing Crown Grill because the menu just looks better to me. Love the lamb chops.
  2. I'll never put in the special event again. Did it once, and they gave me a coupon for 10% off on jewelry purchase over some amount or another. Some gift! 🤣
  3. I don't think it's against policy. There are a lot of these on EBay, and I don't really remember which one I bought. I think it might be the one linked below, because it offers a lot of necklace lengths. You can't choose necklace length until late in the purchase process. I advise you to be careful and order one long enough, 26" or 30". I ordered 26" and think it's about right. I can't imagine trying to work with one shorter than that. 4. I think it's likely that it goes something like this. Their computer system is programmed to do upgrades when cabins are unsold. They probably do this in series, for instance X number of B1s would be upgraded to minis. Another X number of B2 would be upgraded to B1. And so on. It's an automated process, and it's based solely on the category number with no human involved to see that the upgrade you got makes no sense. Or, possibly, somebody wanted the specific cabin you were in to be near traveling companions.
  5. We had a cabin in that area once on the Golden, and we never heard a thing.
  6. Did you go to Tracy Arm for Sawyer Glacier instead? That's what's supposed to happen if Endicott is too icy, but I suppose it could happen that both are too icy.
  7. We did a great submarine trip in Kona, but not the ship's excursion. We finished up whatever it was we were doing and just did a walk on, spur of the moment on the submarine. It was nearly empty, which was wonderful. I think I would have hated it if it were full. We saw lots of fish.
  8. Since your wife enjoys specialty coffees and you don't sound like you get the full benefit of the package on alcohol either, you might want to trade your mini-bar for two coffee packages.
  9. Follow the yellow brick road: Travel Checklist Personal Information & Documents Scroll down to Suggested Arrival & Departure Groups Choose the sailing if you have more than one booked You'll see it on the screen you get after choosing sailing.
  10. Our first cruise was on the Carnival Jubilee in 1991, and we were astounded at how big it was. We were totally impressed with all it had to offer, which seems funny now with what's on the new ships.
  11. Not on any of the three cruises we've been on since the restart. I miss it.
  12. Awww, bummer! I hadn't noticed that. I was so focused on the eclipse cruise. You're right; this is disappointing.
  13. On Lido deck, there's a noodle bar that has great noodle bowls. I highly recommend it, and I wish all Princess ships had it.
  14. Coming into this discussion late, but are you aware that your cabin is right over Club Fusion? I haven't stayed in this location, and I've seen opinions/experiences both ways as to whether or not it's noisy. If you and your wife are night owls, then no worries at all. If not ... well maybe some worries.
  15. This is good to know. I'm stalking a cruise for the total eclipse in Spring 2024, so maybe one of the Mexican cruises will work out for that.
  16. And, as far as I know, shorts. I know hubby has worn shorts to the buffet for dinner.
  17. How does that matter in this discussion? My original post was about the aft dining room on deck 6. The fact that the midship dining rooms on 5 and 6 are each split in two on the Diamond, resulting in a total of five, has nothing to do with the aft dining room on 6. Which, as I said, is very much the same on the Ruby and the Diamond.
  18. Look at the deck plans. In that area, the ships are very much the same. It's the same situation, with a small lobby area and no room for long lines.
  19. I'm with you on that. Growing up, I had my own room, and I don't like sharing space. I manage to do that happily with my DH, but that's as far as it goes. 😂
  20. We've only sailed once on the Royal, but as I remember it, the service as great. Can't help you on entertainment, since we never go.
  21. Everybody else has hit the high points: good prices, less crowded, etc. and the low points: some things might be starting to shut down, shorter days, iffy weather. All I can add is that we've done several Alaska cruises in September, and they were all great. We're scheduled for another one in late September 2023, and I'm expecting to have a great time on that. Maybe rainier, but that's what rain gear is for.
  22. I have never heard screaming kids running around on a Princess ship, but then again, I haven't heard this on other cruise lines either. I've actually seen few kids, screaming or not, on Princess ships. I wouldn't worry about this.
  23. Definitely not what I want to hear, but thanks for the heads-up. We're going to be on the Discovery in August, and I've really been enjoying the soft mattresses on Princess ships the last several cruises.
