  1. Do we know how Koningsdam got to West Coast this season?
  2. Last summer we toured the main Delft Factory in Amsterdam. Name escapes me but they really emphasized the tremendous back log they have. Industry was pretty much shut down during Pandemic and many workers got other jobs. Could be same problem as Hal’s Delft Tile supplier.
  3. Koningsdam is currently on a circle Hawaii cruise. To get to California they probably transited through the Panama Canal. Whether it was the new canal or old I’m not sure but to my knowledge it did not go around the tip of South America. Correct me if I’m wrong.
  4. Good morning! It’s sleep in morning! It’s 68 F, cloudy and windy! Sunrise looks like it will happen but will be pretty subdued to the eye! We had a spell of heavy rain after 5:00 PM last night and the winds howled. So will have breakfast, attend on-line church and see what happens later in the day. We will get the Super Bowl on TV but it will broadcast in Spanish! That should be interesting and probably no commercials. Definitely will be different! So enjoy the day and the Big Game if so inclined. Bruce
  5. Today’s sunrise. Previous post a couple of repeats posted in error.
  6. Good morning! Per SIL who is on Koningsdam they are in Hilo today as they were yesterday due to high seas and unable to tender. They missed Maui due to same reasons. In essence there ports of call have been all mixed up or missed. Rain is in the forecast this afternoon so we are by pool awaiting sunrise. Picture to follow. Have a great day!
  7. Bon Voyage! We’ll be keeping an eye out for you as you pass by Cancun! Enjoy! B.
  8. @kochleffelThank you for starting the Fleet Report and Care List. If you didn’t see one of my late post on yesterdays Daily we witnessed a sad event as a mature man drowned while swimming in red flag conditions. Lifeguard performed CPR for a long time to no avail. Sad and so unnecessary. Another beautiful day in the neighborhood and we are already lounging poolside! Great place to start the day and enjoy the sunrise. Last night we grilled Bang Bang Chicken Kababs and tonight a couple of NY Strips we bought at the market. Have a great day and weekend. Bruce
  9. Prime C on our recent Onward cruise we enjoyed an excellent Chateaubriand. Another night we had their special of the night Dover Sole which was good. Turns out the Dover Sole in Aqualina was even better. Had Steak Diane in Prime C one night and it was good but it had a little flavor of being cooked in a well used burnt pan or flattop which distracted from a very good dish Same taste on steak I had in Prime C. So both were good but not outstanding.
  10. Sad afternoon today in Cancun but we had a swimmer ignore the red flags and watched lifeguards apply CPR for a long time to no avail. This happens too often at our local beaches in Florida. If red flags are flying you should not be swimming. Ignore and you may end up on the ultimate ruined vacation.
  11. More doomsday postings! The cruise lines we have cruised post pandemic have all reported staff shortages due to many former cruise members found new careers and there are backlogs on visa processing for veterans. We have been told that on Scenic, Azamara and Holland. That also results in rookie crew members that need to learn the standards. If you’re cruising, expecting it will be just like 2015 you may be disappointed. There continues to be supply shortages, some cutbacks etc. I will let you in on a little secret! We still had a great time. Sure we noticed some changes. You just need to not set your expectations so high that they can’t be reached. If you don’t like how a cruise line is running then try a new one. Hal is a great cruise line and we have enjoyed close to 500 days cruising with them. Our issue was we were getting rather bored with repetitious same onboard scenario. So we have dipped in other lines but still have some Hal bookings. We all have choices.
  12. Good morning! Not much news here! We sit by the pool, use the large hot tub, cool off in the pool, sip on a cocktail and read and surf the web. No web surfing from ten to one as we all received notice the resort will be working on their WiFi system. We still have T-Mobile! Evidently this lounging by the pool is tiring as it sure seems lights out is eight PM! Sue made us a delicious pizza last night which the leftovers will be our poolside lunch. Who would ever want to celebrate toothache day? Thanks Sandi, Rich and Roy for making it happen and our special Food and Beverage reporters! Debbie that chicken recipe yesterday looked so good I saved it and will try on grill at home.
  13. Just an outstanding cruise blog. Again thank you very much. Giving us ideas for our WC next January.
  14. Ouch! No wonder you’re hurting. Let’s hope for quick healing! Take it easy.
  15. Roy here’s your morning sunrise over a rough Caribbean Sea! Hope your feeling better.
