  1. It was never complicated. All OP ever had to do was pull up her itinerary on UA (apparently the marketing carrier) and look near the bottom under "Checked Bags" and click on that heading. It would clearly show she is entitled to two free checked bags up to 70 pounds. Why this spun out-of-control, I have no idea. Looks like this (this is on a reservation for a pax flying economy): First and second baggage service charges per traveler First bag Second bag Weight per bag Fri, Aug 19, 2022 Washington, DC, US (IAD - Dulles) to San Juan, PR, US (SJU - Luis Muñoz Marín) $35 per person $45 per person (50lbs) Tue, Aug 23, 2022 San Juan, PR, US (SJU - Luis Muñoz Marín) to Washington, DC, US (IAD - Dulles) $35 per person $45 per person (50lbs)
  2. You are making a mountain out of a mole hill and working yourself up over something that isn't a problem. I absolutely guarantee that with this ticket in business class on LH & UA, you will be allowed two bags up to 70 pounds each. You will not be charged. Unless you truly enjoy conflict and chaos, forget about it as there's nothing to back down about. Come back on your return from your cruise and post what happened.
  3. I was referring to the cheese and crackers. Sad you would be charged for these, but guess you get what you pay for.
  4. Doesn't your cruise line have room service?
  5. There is no "blame" and they are right. You were correctly informed that the rules of the first operating carrier apply to your flight. It is unreasonable to expect a phone agent to have memorized the baggage allowance for every airline. Your ticket clearly shows your baggage allowance and this was available to you simply by logging into United.com. Why were you wasting so much time making these phone calls and arguing? Is it possible she was just tired of the conversation? There is no need to be rude or condescending; I am pretty sure English is not the first language of most of these agents.
  6. They don’t know! It’s just a fun guess.
  7. This cruise is Athens, Santorini, day at sea, Kotor, Messina, Naples, day at sea, Barcelona. I wouldn't chose either of them for a Med cruise. Too many sea days.
  8. Always the missing details. That is terrible routing. If you look at your reservation, it will clearly show who the operating carrier is. You would check in for this flight with LH. You would follow the rules of the operating carrier. Your FRA-IAD-DTW flight is on UA. You still get two bags up to 70 pounds.
  9. I'm going to take a wild guess that you booked your air through your cruise line? I work at the airport and am well aware of the policy. I don't understand the crazy answers you received. You are entitled to two free bags, weighing up to 70 pounds each in business class, unless your routing (which you don't list) has a baggage restriction. This should be stated on your itinerary on united.com.
  10. No, no, no. Last week I spent over an hour trying to rebook flights for two ladies who booked through NCL’s cruise air. They called for help and said they received none, and that NCL finally hung up on them. Don’t count on this.
  11. UA has cut 50 flights this summer from EWR. Sept 2023 is so far away, who knows what the service will be then? There is no comparison between Polaris and Premium Economy!
  12. You are supposed to put your seat upright during meal service. If not, the FA can put it up for you, at the request of the passenger behind you.
  13. Must edit, I have tried to or rebooked many, many people over the last two weeks or so, just referring to people going on European cruises in my post.
  14. Not even sure how to respond to this simplistic "solution" to airline problems. Unless you are a very, very high status customer, airlines don't pay for hotels or food for delays/cancelations that are for reasons beyond their control. I am happy to give you a hotel discount coupon though; there is never any need to sleep on an airport floor. I have tried to rebook four sets of customers in the last 10 days because of weather delays. They missed their cruises because they were flying in last minute and there was no availability to Europe on ANY airline, which seemed to shock them. And, for those who love cruise air, the one who had booked through whatever NCL's cruise air is; the passenger told me they hung up on them and then didn't answer their calls. No help at all with rebooking. Stuff happens when you travel. Buy insurance, bring a credit card and be prepared to deal with problems. Don't yell at staff. They can't pull a seat out of thin air. They want you on your way as much as you want to be gone. If it's too stressful, stick to land trips because there are never any problems with those.
  15. We had a free shuttle just one time.
  16. No, most flights last weekend, and there were far more than 3,500, were canceled due to weather.
  17. Many people fly internationally with infants. I wouldn’t choose those seats if I might be moved,
  18. No, UA will not book you on ANY airline. They try to keep you in UA/UAX flights, then partners/ Star Alliance carriers and then will look to other airlines, but there are many they will never pay to book you on.
  19. American will refund the fees/taxes back to your credit card.
  20. So you have VCE-CDG-JFK? If it's already booked, can you change your flights without paying?
  21. Should read "onto the next flight with available seats." Key word "available." This could be a flight several days in the future. And, if you are using tickets booked with miles, you may have to wait for an open award seat; often you will have to deal with MileagePlus. UA is not going to book you on WestJet.
