  1. It is a gorgeous day out, why don't you go take a walk around the pond or go to the zoo? It is a good way to open the mind.....
  2. 2,000 kids on an Oasis class ship is not unusual at all. With the kids sail free promotion happening almost continually, large numbers of kids is now the norm.
  3. Sail the larger ships and you will see that your information is way off.
  4. Your observations are only a "small sliver" of the evening guests too. Were you at both early and late seating tallying what people were wearing? Did you go to all levels of the MDR to get your information? What about MTD?
  5. @SteelCityCruiser10 I wanted to add that when you walk out to Nugget Falls, we prefer to break off the main trail and go where this shows beach access. It can be a wetter trail as you have to cross a little brook but there are stepping stones to go across it. We saw some huge bear prints along the beach and scratching in the sand where bear dig for cones. The marked black trail on the map is flatter and easier but we like to go the beach way on the way out and the black trail on the way back. We found a park ranger down in the beach area too, pointing out where protected nests were, birds and other wildlife. Just a different option depending on what you have for footwear. We wear low, waterproof hiking boots but if it has been rainy and you don't have waterproof footwear, you might just want to stay on the black marked trail.
  6. We were on Mariner back in 2006 and a woman in a bikini top and a sarong came into the MDR at lunch. Back then, they filled up large tables with multiple parties and didn't like sitting people at tables of two at lunch. This woman was arguing that she had a coverup and should be allowed to eat there. They let her.
  7. You don't cruise that much if you have never seen a bathing suit in the MDR.
  8. Why would a croc make you feel uncomfortable? It is under the table, it can't hurt you.
  9. I would take the blue bus to Mendenhall and walk out to Nugget Falls. We did Steep Creek trail last time too and found a park ranger who was out on the boardwalk, showing people a porcupine that had climbed a tree. He gave a little talk on porcupine habits and had quills to show us. Was kind of neat to see. He was on that trail because there had been bear earlier in the morning and was going to close it if they were seen again. We can easily spend three hours at Mendenhall. You could also hire a cab to take you and come pick you up at a set time. I would come back to downtown, do some shopping and then go to Tracey's for crab.
  10. I have absolutely no idea what shoes the person who sits beside me is wearing or whether or not they have hairy legs as I am not going to lift their tablecloth to check. I do not concern myself with others unless they put their hairy legs up on my table.
  11. No concierge would send out a letter like that, let alone send four extra kids keys to be used for cocktails in the diamond lounge. This sailing was when?
  12. There are always judgmental people, just ignore them.
  13. To add one more detail, when dropping off luggage, make sure you tell the port worker that is directing cars, that you are have someone in a wheelchair and they will direct you to the first drop off zone directly in front of the terminal. You can drop luggage off there and also get your grandson out there and have someone continue on to the garage to park the car. The garage is handicap parking only during the summer when there are multiple ships sailing from Cape Liberty.
  14. They hold back some reservations, so try to book shows as soon as you board. There is also a standby line for all the shows. Get in the standby line early for the aqua show so you can get a decent seat and not have to sit in the splash zone.
  15. I wonder if that is a glitch. I was just pricing a few cruises and chose junior suite guarantee and it let me pick my cabin.
  16. Best wishes to a speedy recovery for your Mom. I know when my DH had surgery to repair his ruptured quad, he was only allowed to cruise six weeks later because we were driving to the port. His surgeon said he should not fly because of the chance of blood clots. We did drive to the port and we sailed, but he found his leg swelled a lot with the increased activity, so we chose to stay on the ship and just chill. One of the best things we brought was an old fashion ice pack that has the screw top to fill with ice. They do not sweat and are so much better than ziploc bags. CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc all carry them for around ten dollars. We requested an extra large bucket of ice twice a day for him to ice his leg and the cabin steward took care of it. We also requested a shower chair, which did fit in our shower on Anthem with no issues. It was safer for him to sit and shower. He was in a hip to ankle leg brace for the trip and we brought his cane, even though he had been cleared to stop using it by PT. Better safe than sorry. It wasn't the cruise we planned but we had a good time. I hope she feels she can go but make sure she takes it easy if she does go.
  17. We did Radiance in 2018 too with a cruisetour out of Fairbanks before the cruise. We did 4B and then the cruise from Seward, 5/25/18 thru 6/5/18. We did Quantum to Alaska in May 2022. We will definitely be doing Alaska again.
  18. It is really simple to do. Each person who is in the suite will have a free voom package loaded on their account. All they need to do is connect to Royal wifi and then open a browser. They will be redirected to a login, just like at a hotel, and they will need their cabin number, name and year of birth. They then choose the option for free included voom or something similarly named. They will choose a login and password. It is really quite simple.
  19. If you are sailing Oasis, don't switch to 8660. The A/C was noisy at night time with a drip type noise. There was never any leaking but we had to turn it off a couple of nights because of the noise.
  20. Diamonds get 4 drink vouchers a day, loaded to your sea pass card, to be used at anytime during the day on any drink up to $14.
  21. I take a 5 inch battery/usb fan on every cruise, never had it taken.
  22. We just had a GS on deck 8 on Oasis a few weeks ago. Location was very quiet. I was more concerned about the noise from the Music Hall since it has doors that are opened to the elevator lobby, but we never heard a thing. We still prefer deck 6 to deck 8 though.
  23. If you are bringing them on at your port of departure, you likely will be okay with them in a ziploc bag. I would not take the ziploc bag of nuts off in a port or try to bring it on in a port due to agriculture laws. Factory sealed is your best option.
  24. iPhones seem to do better. We had updated our iOS and apps prior to boarding so that likely helped too. I have an iPhone 13 and DH has an iPhone 8.
  25. That wasn’t our experience at all on Oasis a few weeks ago. We received notifications immediately. App worked very well for us.
