  1. Ok as the OP @sunsetme has noted this thread is about the new CDC decision on pre departure testing and Princess’ response to it. That information is of importance to many of us. Let’s keep the thread on topic to prevent the thread being locked.
  2. @sunsetme Did you get an email? Thanks for sharing
  3. We are also on a September. cruise. I’ve looked at securing an Uber/Lyft to the airport(nearest car rental) from the harbor. I’ve opened a dummy booking several times and have yet to find a ride. “Very few drivers available” sometimes accompanied by “ pick up in 56 minutes” but still very few rides available. These were dates when a ship was NOT in port. I did secure private transport to and from the airport. My thought is that you need to have your plans solid before you get to Bar Harbor, to avoid disappointment. If others have more information, I’d be interested as well. It’s been a challenge!
  4. Because of this post, perhaps I wasn't clear. I was agreeing with you. Carnival cards work only on Carnival, not Princess.
  5. Agree cards are available, but you need to join the AARP rewards. not necessarily or just AARP. Before buying any cards, you need to review the Terms and Conditions, and, as @brisalta point out Carnival cards cannot be used on Princess. Also be sure to determine if cards can be applied to an existing reservation or only a new one. Once you've bought them, you cannot get your money back if the card doesn't meet your needs. Here is the T& C for Carnival REDEEMING GIFT CARDS Gift Cards are redeemable at participating Carnival Cruise Line® ships for passenger travel to pay for ticket purchases and as deposit to an onboard account. Gift Cards can be redeemed for or on any cruise sold or operated by Carnival Cruise Line®, except onboard those sailings operating in a non-USD functional currency onboard. The price of each transaction paid for by the Gift Card will be debited against the balance or value on the Gift Card. If the price for a transaction is greater than the balance or value on the Gift Card, the purchaser must pay the difference. If the price for a transaction is less than the balance or value on the Gift Card, the unused portion will remain on the Gift Card until it is redeemed and the value of the Gift Card is decreased to zero, at which time the Gift Card will be deactivated.
  6. Don’t know the OP’s total history but it does look like the OP joined Cruise Crtic almost 12 years ago.
  7. @mvaldes140We are in this suite in September. Can you repot how this works with three people? Specially can you let us know how the third bed(from the couch) works. How big is it, did you get a mattress topper from the steward? Also, would love to get a report on your afternoon tea experience. And if you do indeed get that table for meals as @AnyMajorCruiseDudereports. It seems like you would need chairs, as well? I guess you could use the couch. We have used that standard table in other cabins, and although not ideal, it works. Good Luck!
  8. Just received the reimbursement check today for the full amount for the CoVID tests performed at a lab in London. Took about 2 weeks. Also as of today, still able to schedule a test(even for travel purposes). Tests are performed at their facilities. Kaiser Permanente.
  9. @cr8tiv1 part C. Re: Reimbursement: You didn’t mention your insurance. But since you live in both California and Hawaii, I will add this. I received a reimbursement check today from Kaiser Permanente for tests done in London during our visit there in June. I submitted the request in the app and it took about 2 weeks, very easy. If this doesn’t apply to you, it may still help others.
  10. I don’t think so. I was told I’d be reimbursed, even for travel and for this trip and this test. They did want the US dollar figure which the credit card statement shows. Do you have Kaiser Permanente coverage? Everything that is not Kaiser is “out of network” The discussion of “cover it” didn’t come up. The term was reimbursement. We’ve been 100% reimbursed before. I’ll will post when I get the check. We we also advised to submit a claim for “at home “ tests purchased at a UK pharmacy. Since we purchased 4 for £2 each, I didn’t bother.
  11. Kaiser Permanente. Kaiser isn’t available everywhere, though. I have a claim in now for tests taken at a lab in London.
  12. I can’t say for sure where the NCL tenders arrive, but is a hill to get up to the town. I wouldn’t say it’s steep, but definitely there. Here are a couple of webcams to enjoy http://barharborcam.com https://geddys.com/geddys-cams/
  13. Excellent . I show my cruise now at the price I was quoted yesterday. Although, the deposit is higher. It was a little bit more than the original price that I was not able to book online.
  14. I spoke with my Cruise Consultant yesterday,. Accord to her the pricing is wrong, hence the reason for the issues. You can call and secure a booking, My price was $100.00 more per person for a suite. It is still a very good deal along with a small deposit. This is for the cruise the OP mentioned. edit: website appears to be working now,, at the pice I was quoted yesterday, but deposit a bit higher.
  15. I talked to my CVP this morning. She said the pricing is wrong, hence the issues. You can call and secure a booking, the price difference isn’t that much. At least this was the case for me, my cruise is a great deal.
  16. I just made a reservation for Crown Grill, and my credit was applied. It was a suite credit, so not sure if that is different than onboard credit. I also scrolled through the times to get the one I wanted.
  17. If your home is less than 100 miles away, then you will likely be on a commuter flight and LAX would likely be the destination. Also note, airlines are cutting flights and the commuter flights seemed to be affected. I would conduct an online search to determine possible flights first.
  18. My CVP did secure my booking on the Royal from San Francisco. She mentioned her supervisor secured the booking. I wasn’t able to to chat with her as we missed each other yesterday so I don’t have any further information. The crusie is listed in my account. It is a fantastic price, with a small deposit.
  19. Was it easy getting a proctor at that time of night, did you have to wait? What time zone did you test from? Thinking of testing before heading to the airport which would be early about 3AM Pacific.
