  1. Has anyone been able to trade the whole thing for OBC recently?
  2. If there are only 1 or 2, try to avoid cabins with 3rd & 4th bunk. We made that mistake and I whacked my head a few times 🤪
  3. I saw a lot of these types of signs when I went on a short RC cruise.
  4. Do you buy them from AARP? I saw a thread about this a while back, and need to find it since our final payment is in Sept.
  5. The Sapphire also has complementary soft serve ice cream. I was on an RC ship for the first time since I started cruising with Princess, and find the choices on Princess considerably better. Even the room service fee will be less, quite reasonable if you want a whole meal. On Princess I like to go to the buffet and make a bowl of Trail mix with the nuts and dried fruits they put out.
  6. We had E406 Deluxe obstructed view on the Royal, and it had a bigger balcony with a fine view. It was a great location and the loveseat was good for us because I traveled with elderly MIL, and she spent a lot of time in the cabin.
  7. Our favorite use of the Medallion is being able to easily find each other (unless we're both on the move 😄). If you don't want to carry a smart phone, you can use the interactive maps around the ship.
  8. The premium suites cost less due to location. There is more movement, but I was fine talking my bonine every day. It is also a long walk to many parts of the ship. Our balcony was fully covered (A101). We loved the layout and forward facing window with side balcony, and it was actually quite sheltered. There were cozy blankets in the cupboard. The first picture is the view from the balcony.
  9. You don't have to show anything but your passport. I like to print my travel summary for peace of mind and proof of obc, but have never needed it. I think I may have been asked to see my app once, but I'm not sure.
  10. We are booked in a suite on standard fare, but not until November. We get our coffee at breakfast and in the concierge lounge. Since we don't drink a lot, it makes more sense for us to use the platinum wifi discount. We have enough obc to cover crew appreciation and extra drinks. We will be less likely to order room service and ocean now.
  11. Under the "other tips" category: The lower level of the piazza features the International Cafe. All food is included in your fare. You order beverages at a separate counter. These are included if you have the package, or charge to your Medallion.
  12. If you have a plus package, your drinks under the limit will be no charge. Most food is included for everyone, but there are some upcharge items.
  13. On the Discovery I think it was something like 5-7 pm. They had wine, beer, assorted hard alcohol. There was a Fiesta with margaritas one night (Mexico cruise).
  14. Try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it. I don't know why the website isn't working unless they are doing updates.
  15. I don't get the packages. I order only a couple of drinks per cruise and 1 or 2 coffees from the International Cafe. Since I get the platinum discount on internet, it just isn't worth it to me.
  16. A black party tablecloth from the dollar store and some magnets would do the trick in a pinch
  17. My grandma would pack lox in her suitcase when she would visit from Philadelphia, along with other goodies we could not get in the wasteland of California 😄 (1970's)
  18. And the international Cafe on most Princess ships
  19. If you decide you don't like your shower once you are on board, there are nice showers in the gym/spa area by the Lotus pool that are free to use, along with sauna and steam rooms.
  20. Another great feature of the Crown is the International cafe on the bottom deck of the piazza. You can enjoy a light meal or snack (no extra charge) and enjoy whatever entertainment is going on (game shows, music, demonstrations, etc).
  21. He got this for $15 or so on the Discovery in November.
  22. I wish they would give the lanyard as a free option rather than automatically including them. I like to keep the Medallion as a souvenir, but have no use for the lanyard. DH bought a wristband and I keep me in my pocket most of the time.
  23. I had a great experience with a CVP support person regarding a move over to Discovery from a canceled Diamond booking last year. I was originally told my EZair flights were not part of the move-over, but he was able to rebook us on the flights of my choice (which would have been several hundred more otherwise) with no additional cost to us.
  24. When we checked in for our April 30 Royal Princess cruise from SF, the boarding was delayed due to difficulties clearing the ship from the previous sailing. Once we were finally upstairs the terminal staff called for platinum and elites to go to the front of the security line and then to the Priority check in lane. It probably saved us about 30 minutes waiting.
  25. On the Royal it was in the MDR on a day when we arrived in Port mid-day. I don't remember all the choices, but they did have fish & chips, chicken curry, and plowmans lunch.
