  1. If you look at a Google map of Whitter, Alaska you will see that College Fjord, the last 2 1/2 hour scenic sailing activity before docking at Whitter, is just across the water from the port. It will take a short time to sail from the fjord to the Whitter pier. If you are disembarking or boarding you will do that at the normal time in the morning. If you are sailing the 14 day itinerary with a turn around in Whitter then tours will begin in the morning at the normal times and will return in time for sailing at 8:30pm. Remember that at this time of year sunset in Whitter is around midnight with sunrise around 4am. An Alaska cruise is not like a Caribbean cruise.
  2. It's obvious. Princess has an IT department that has taken something that was easy in the past and made it very difficult for their customers.
  3. After you select find a cruise and select your parameters go to the lower right part of the page and click on "apply." Princess has redesigned this page and has sort of hidden the word apply.
  4. The luggage tag is printed on 8 1/2" x 11" standard paper. It is then folded in thirds lengthwise making the width just under 3".The tag is then folded in half making the length approximately 6".
  5. As far back as I can remember Princess has always indicated that beverages like lemonade, ice tea, certain juices, were available during meal times. I would not expect these to be available 24/7.
  6. Princess really has messed up their on line programs. I found: choose link booking and the error message comes up then select the back arrow on your browser and you will find the check in page to enter the information
  7. Best benefit, reserve class MDR dining. Walk in anytime and be promptly seated with upgraded service.
  8. I would not concern myself regarding the ship's Captain and other senior officers. There will be photos of all the ship's senior officers near the mid ship elevators, I believe on deck 7. I'm sure the Captain will be fine and pleasant should you happen to meet him. Passengers really don't interact with the Captain. He does show up at large events, usually on formal evening, to address the crowd. Passengers interact mainly with the cruise director and assistant cruise directors. They are the ones that run passenger activities. Passengers also interact with their cabin steward, DR waiters as well as bar tenders and bar waiters. All of them are nice. They don't last unless they are.
  9. Yes. Princess Cays. This information is shown in the itinerary.
  10. Beverage packages are available on boarding day. There will be crew selling them in the public areas. Same cost, pre cruise or on board. When purchased on board the cost goes to your on board account and nets against any OBC credits.
  11. Basically it includes soda. The cost is really $14.99/pp/day + 18% = $17.69/pp/day. The coffee card/package is no longer available. To also include specialty coffees you would have to have the zero alcohol package. You are able to carry on 12 x 12oz cans of soda /pp. Here are the terms for the soda package. https://www.princess.com/en-us/ships-and-experience/onboard-experience/food-and-dining/beverages/classic-soda-package-terms-and-conditions
  12. No ship tour this past March on the Ruby. Future?
  13. I don't believe this would really help anyone. If done in advance it just moves the 'rush' back to the time of booking. Those that book earliest have the best chance of obtaining a lounge. For many itineraries the sanctuary would probably be sold out shortly after bookings opened. The current system allows everyone a fairly equal opportunity. The Sun does have special sanctuary like areas for passengers in certain category cabins.
  14. No viewing area. Really nothing to see. During normal sailing the bridge is staffed by two deck officers and two lookouts. The deck officers mainly monitor screens. Lookouts do just that, look for other marine activity around them.
  15. Prices my never drop for your cruise. If you cancel, your cabin becomes available to everyone including those that booked guarantees. Depending on passenger load Princess may or may not offer last minute rates. With this type of booking room selection may not be an option. If you already have a booking on a cruise you want then you should retain it.
  16. obstructed view balcony cabin on deck 8 is an option to research.
  17. Boarding begins around 10am and continues up until about 1 hour before sailing time. If you have your medallion you will be green lane. Once through security you will go to the boarding area. Without the medallion you will have to pick up your medallion at the pier. It's a short detour. Once boarding begins priority boarders go first, then all others. Boarding proceeds goes quickly once started. No specific boarding times.
  18. What is the source of the $400 refundable OBC? Is the refundable OBC posted under the payments section in your account? You can only use OBC which is posted pre-cruise to pre-book excursions. Some OBC isn't posted until you board. One example is some OBC from TAs. Check this out. If it is posted then I don't know why it can not be used to pre-book excursions.
  19. Below are the details from the passage for carry on soda. Basically each person can carry on 12 x 12 oz cans. A couple could carry on 12 cans each which equals a case. From experience passengers have been able to carry on cans from ports of call. "Guests are also prohibited from bringing water, sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages on board that are packaged in bottles. A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought on board on embarkation day, only if carried on in Guests’ hand luggage (not in checked luggage). A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person. Guests will be asked to discard open beverages in plastic containers prior to boarding."
  20. I am going to clarify my previous post. In that post I am speaking about the normal MDR, not specialty restaurant dining.
  21. I am not familiar with the procedures Sun Princess, but on all other ships it is walk up dining anytime the DR is open with prompt seating.
