  1. medallion shipping is included with the plus fare. ^General Princess Plus Terms:The original Princess Plus package consists of Plus Beverage Package, Wi-Fi, and Crew Appreciation; the upgraded ($60 USD / $65 AUD) Princess Plus package includes all of the foregoing original package items plus Medallion shipping, Premium Desserts, Juice Bar, Fitness Classes, select Casual Dining with Pre-Fixe Meals, and Included One-Time Delivery Access Fee.
  2. I looked at one November 7 day cruise on the Discovery. There were cabins to select, but not very many.
  3. There is no shipping charge for individuals that have the plus or premier fares. Elimination of the shipping charge is not related to loyalty status nor to cabin category. it's related to your fare.
  4. $30/day I believe for a single day.
  5. In this case it's best to just pay the $14.99 for the meal or he can also purchase individual items. In his condition I don't see why any one would object to him bring the food he enjoys. Just ask the waiter before you go.
  6. A) Son will be charged the $14.99 B) Son will be happy to be off on his own C) Maybe he could come in with food. Depends on the venue if proper or not. Example, say it's Vines. That's out in the open. Lots of passengers bring food over from the International Cafe. Very common. Say it's Alfredo's. They probably would frown on bringing other food into their restaurant. I wouldn't think it's a cost thing, but most likely other issues that other food would make for them. Would you walk into the DR with a few slices of pizza? D) Purchase the plus fare for the son. Work out the cost. You might be surprised.
  7. Maybe it's a small part of it. But, the prohibition came from a 2017 court ruling against Princess and Carnival regarding environmental violations. A part of that decision had to do with the disposal of plastics. At that time Princess began the prohibition of plastic bottles. While it's still in their rules, Princess themselves uses plastic bottles and seems to ignore for the most part plastic bottles that are carried on.
  8. The answer is maybe. I have seen the awards on the MUTS TV as well as other TVs around the ship and in the cabin. I have also seen them hold some sort of event, one time they actually had a red carpet.
  9. Ft. Lauderdale to NYC sailings are very limited. With my quick review I only noticed one, but there may be another. Maybe one from FLL to Boston. A passenger boarding in Ft. Lauderdale can only disembark in New York or any other U.S. port if the ship visits one of the ABC Islands, a distant foreign port as defined under US law.
  10. Yes, looks as if there will be 5. There are so many sea days it's difficult to guess. It isn't a routine repeated sailing, more of a one off type. The entertainment & dining staff will determine which are the formal nights closer to the sailing date. They probably are not thinking about that now. I'll take a guess that the first formal night would be the second or third sea day.
  11. Yes to any non alcoholic beverages. They do not need to be in the original packaging. Plastic bottles are not allowed under the rules. Cans or cartons are allowed. Guests are also prohibited from bringing water, sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages on board that are packaged in bottles. A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought on board on embarkation day, only if carried on in Guests’ hand luggage (not in checked luggage). A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person. Guests will be asked to discard open beverages in plastic containers prior to boarding.
  12. Have you tried the roll call for this voyage? Others on the same cruise as you may have something arranged. I believe you are on the March 25th cruise. Here is the roll call.
  13. The only significant benefit of booking a reserve mini suite is the walk in dining in a section of the MDR. If you are on the Sun Princess there will be a separate DR just for Reserve Dining. The way you booked the cabins you and your mother will be allowed to dine in the reserve DR area. No one else. If you & your mother join them in the regular DR it's regular service and I fairly sure menu. Even if you do have the ability to get the extra dinner menu item it would be only for you and your mother. If you are all family you will probably all be able to board together, just ask. In any case boarding is fairly quick. You can obtain access to other cabins by visiting passenger services. Of course, the passenger(s) in that cabin will have to approve it.
  14. You have to really be aware of the hard sell on board with the 3rd party now in place.
  15. Advise which airport and if you are arriving, disembarking or both. Be aware that you almost certainly your ship will be in Red Hook, Brooklyn. If you are flying out of Newark would suggest the Princess transfer. There basically is no convenient public transportation to any of the 3 airports. If fly in to embark would strongly suggest you fly in at least a day early. Remember that a 6 hour flight from Montana will arrive 9 hours after take off because of the time change.
  16. Usually no different fares from booking at home. No special pricing for b2bs. Deposit should be $100/pp/booking number with OBC amount depending on length of voyage and cabin category. Now that your questions have been addressed here is my strong suggestion. Purchase as many Future Cruise Deposits (FCDs) as you think you will require. They are individual. Each person needs to have them in their name. They cost $100 each and are charged directly to your credit card on file with passenger services. The terms require that you book, not sail, within one year. If you do not book they are fully refundable. You can book any cruise (world cruises excepted, a reduced deposit is provided) using an FCD, one per person. The deposit will be the $100 value of the FCD and you will receive the same OBC as you would if booked on board. In my way of thinking it's best to return home and when you are down from your cruise high you can search and make better decisions. Since Princess has placed a 3rd party on board to book cruises and sell the FCDs the 3rd party many times gives a hard sell. They also push future cruise packages which in my opinion are not worth putting out large sums of money for cruises and hotel packages.
  17. Are there cartons of chocolate mike in the buffet? I think I saw some, but not certain.
  18. Doubtful. I never heard of State taxes on a cruise fare. There are port taxes and fees. It's might be for special performances and meetings with the group(s). You should ask the promotor why.
  19. It's a one way repositioning cruise. Nothing is wrong with it. It just isn't a popular itinerary at that time of year. It may be cool. Princess has to get the ship to Vancouver for the Alaska season. Not tropical if that is what you are looking for. In reality if the ship is under booked be happy about it. Less people.
  20. Here is some information regarding Princess. You can do the comparison. Quick places to eat, no extra charge. International Cafe open 24/7, cont. breakfast items in the AM, paninis, salads, desserts and such during the day and evening, additional snacks late evening, specialty coffee drinks no charge with the plus fare. World Fresh Market Place. This is the buffet open 6am until 10 or 11 in the evening. Never closes during that time. Salty Dog Grill and Slice Pizza by the Lido pool open 11am until mid evening serving burgers, dogs, chicken, fries and slices of pizza. With the Ocean Now App you can order food and drink to be delivered to wherever you are on on board. There is a selection of no charge and extra charge food items. The Sky has 3 casual dining locations, Alfredo's Pizza, Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar, Vines Wine Bar. These cost $14.99 per meal. However 2 meals are included with the plus fare. Refer to this web site to see all the dining locations: https://www.princess.com/content/dam/princess/corporate/pdfs/restaurants-dining-venues-on-board.pdf.coredownload.inline.pdf It sounds like the sponsor is offering the package which includes the plus fare. Princess sells cruises with the standard no frills fare, plus fare and premier fare. The 3 main benefits included with the plus fare are the daily house/dining gratuity, unlimited wifi internet, plus beverage package. The plus beverage package includes unlimited nonalcoholic beverages and 15 alcoholic beverages per day. around 90% of all alcoholic beverages are prices $15 or under. There are some wines and high end spirits that are higher priced. If you purchase a drink in excess of $15 you will be charged the difference + 18%. If you wish to have the premier fare you can upgrade when you board. It's $20/pp/day. Passengers 1 and 2 in a cabin are required to have the same fare. If one upgrades the other must also upgrade. Here is some fare information: https://www.princess.com/en-us/cruise-deals-promotions/plus-premier-cruise-packages Bars are bars. There are plenty of them. There is no cross loyalty between Carnival and Princess.
  21. There will be notification as to when & where you can pick up tender tickets. Princess calls them water shuttle. First in line receive the earliest tenders. Your entire group or family that wishes to go together are required to be there together. My experience is that one person can not pick up tickets for others that arrive later.
  22. The official port schedule you reference for Manhattan shows the Emerald in port on June 25th, the Coral in port for 2 nights, July 13th & 14th and the Sky in port for 2 nights on October 2 & 3. All of these are port stops mid cruise. There are no Princess ships that embark/disembark and sail from Manhattan piers. All embarkation is from Brooklyn.
  23. The medallion battery dies after a few weeks to a month. Some that are on board longer cruises have to exchange their medallions due to a dead battery. Of course you can save the lanyard, you will receive a new one. Some people order and pay for special medallion carriers. What I do is remove the medallion from the plastic case and place it in my pocket.
  24. Regarding the Sun Princess. I would wait a month or two and then ask for some comments. The initial sailing is February 18th, this coming Sunday. The Sun's design is totally different than previous Princess ships. Boarding. There are green and blue lanes. If you complete all the pre-boarding information in the Princess app or on the PC web version your medallion will be mailed to you and you are ready to board. Those in the blue lane have to make a quick stop at the check in desk to pick up their medallion. Typically people begin arriving at the pier around 9:30am. Priority boarders, elites and full suite passengers, are held in one area. Others are in a different area. When boarding begins the priority boarders go first. The the others. Once it starts it goes very quickly. Actual boarding usually begins somewhere around 10:30/11:00am.
  25. Additional information. There are also lounges in the Sanctuary. They are $20/half day, $40/full day and $30/day if you book the entire cruise. They are 1st come, 1st to select. When boarding you have to go directly to the sanctuary before you do anything else. It's all the way forward on deck 18. There will be many passengers that booked these 7 day voyages b2b. b2b passengers are able to book the sanctuary on the final day of their initial voyage. The sanctuary is popular on tropical cruises. You mention the Retreat. The Retreat Pool is an adult pool one deck below the sanctuary. It's open to all. There is no pool in the sanctuary. There is a hot tub.
