Take it with a grain of salt and go with an open mind. ๐ We've sailed Edge and Apex multiple times and once on Beyond with another Beyond cruise coming up. We love the E class, our experiences have been totally positive.

Very interesting history behind that phrase. I learned something new today. Thanks.

We can. You just need to remember that you do not have to answer every post. ๐ -

We have had the same โSuiteโ experiences as you on our X cruises. -

Getting Retreat access for a second cabin during booking?
C-Dragons replied to Kevin's topic in Celebrity Cruises
When Suites are sold out, it means that the Retreat will be at full capacity. Why would X continue to offer โupgradesโ? The Retreat lounges are not large enough to accommodate all Suite guests at the most popular times of the day, or when they have special events. This was an unfortunate oversight by X. We sail in Suites and on every cruise have seen other Suite guests come in and then leave because there were no open seats. This is not a case of bait and switch. -
Not necessary, in our opinion. ๐ The Retreat serves Tea and a variety of very nice โsweetsโaround 3:30 pm. Around 5:00 pm they serve assorted โsavoriesโ and your choice of beverage. If you need something else just ask the Concierges and they will do their best to accommodate you. However, depending on what you are asking for, they might not be able to accommodate you until the following afternoon.

We have sailed exclusively with X since 2010. In the beginning, X did allow cigarette smoking, but eventually changed their policy and we were very happy with their decision. Now they want to โgo with the timesโ apparently. We didnโt care for second hand smoke, why we would want to breathe second hand Vaping? YMMV.
-
We are sailing on a X ship that coincidentally we just made final payment for yesterday. At this point, if X does continue with their Vaping tests and decide on making it policy, who knows whether it might be taken fleet wide, or just confined to two ships?

Getting Retreat access for a second cabin during booking?

You beat me to it. ๐ ๐ -
Since the majority of cruisers probably booked months, or even years ago, before X made this horrible announcement, legally I would expect them to be able to cancel without penalty. Sadly, it may be something that we have to look into, since we will not sail under these circumstances.

It's the beginning of a slippery slope, IMO. How will X deal with guests vaping in their staterooms, which is the next logical situation. On previous X sailings we have had to call Guest Relations because we could smell the cigarette smoke coming through the air ducts from the cabins next door. Smoking in staterooms is illegal, but guests will still try and get away with it. I canโt see any logical reason for X to go down this path regarding guests vaping. Have they done actual research on this topic? What percentage of their guests actually indulge in this activity? Will allowing it really actually increase their bottom line? There is a very well known quote, โ The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one. Perhaps X needs to figure out which is more important.

I've seen this option online too. My thoughts were that it was aimed at families traveling with adult family members who wanted a separate cabin for sleeping. ๐ -
I'll drink to that. ๐ Cheers!

I think you will be happier with Apex. ๐ ๐

We fell in love with the E class ships and have sailed exclusively on them since the Edge Inaugural. Canโt wait to be on board the Ascent!
-
I agree, those were my thoughts years ago. It was just a matter of time, IMO.
-
So sorry, but the truth is, no. X expects at least double occupancy.

Thanks for sharing. Though it's a little TMI. ๐ณ It would be nice if this conversation could return to its original topic.

๐ Keep working. ๐ Good things come to those who persevere. ๐

I agree. We have never chosen a cruise ship based on forward facing viewing areas. ๐ Personally, we prefer watching and listening to the wake from the Aft.
