  1. So what I have gathered is the Contemporary Cruiser likes to sail and sustain, willing to accept higher prices, less service, may like carts and buffet but eschew hash browns, for their convenience, of course. Imo, part of Indulge problem is the guests. Food comes out in nano second yet folks linger after eating. Couples take up a six seat circular table with one person on each end so no sharing.
  2. We sailed POA in 2006 when they had three ships in the area. It was bad. Swore it off. Reviews got better over the years. Sailed again March 2016, one month prior to OP. Booked as it was unique post drydock trip SFO to Hawaii. Other than a few things not done, it felt like any other NCL ship, very good. Food and service like any other ship in fleet. Big improvement from 2006. Since restart though, reports about some venues not open and staffing.
  3. That may be from their website but in reality what happens can vary widely. Moet, they've been cheaping out on that for over ten years. Canned soda and water varies widely. Sometimes plenty of supply others have to keep asking. Booze sometimes is delayed a day due to 'having to get from stores'.
  4. Many of the Havens, except GA and now Prima Class, have a covered pool lounge area with a movable roof. Jewel class are small, but still something. I'd agree, suited for warm weather. We had 11 days in cold and that outside Haven area wasted space.
  5. How to get rid of them? On our Dawn cruise one family thought it was to place outside door in the hallway.
  6. But if weather not good, that Haven outside space is useless.
  7. Unless I'm missing something here, MSC sails from Brooklyn, NCL does not.
  8. Oh, and to mention, going to YC at dinner the constant 'we are able to find a table for you' gets old. And to pile on, it was by a column.
  9. We've sailed Mera 4 times since restart. Last was October. Normally we do Diamond at BC for lunch since YC dinner and always menu good. Last trip, no, not good and go to filet not good over 11 days in YC. Could use Diamond at Holas too but it is only $17 so why. BC always good except Cobb salad was bowl of basically green beans this time around. We actually started checking menu and ate at buffet three nights. Trying to get last minute reservations at a specialty not going to happen. Even a couple days in advance a no go despite walking past a restaurant and not very busy.
  10. Have a great time. Had the pucks back in October. Pizza is very good.
  11. Way back there were not many balcony classes. Afts were popular and they figured out they could charge more for them. Then all sorts of sub categories. We've sailed aft several times, up high. Seas never really an issue. Noise can be though. You could be under an aft outside dining area, above a theater or lounge, noise and movement from pods, props, or side thrusters.
  12. Not sure, but by end of day we are expecting a full picture folio of the situation from you.
  13. Escape generally gets good reviews. We sailed pre shutdown on Escape and it was a good experience. The feedback on Star does not surprise me based on other reports here. It's been a long time since we sailed Star twice but those were both good too. A couple minor service issues. I'd probably book the Star if the route and price were right.
  14. Been eight times and never an envelope.
  15. Booked DM in YC once recently at zero supplement. Low season.
  16. I don't recall that menu and we were sailing at the time. Quite extensive. I don't have any pics from then but also not the curator of The Smithsonian East. I do recall when Specialties were like $10 cover, half for kids, never busy. 'To Stimulate Your Palate' apparently has been replaced with 'To Fleece Your Wallet'.
  17. There is not one outside. Usually a table with juice, water, light snacks by pool. We were on BA long time ago and while they had pool servers, service was not very good.
  18. Right on. We've enjoyed them on Star, Dawn, and Gem. Miss it on other ships and lines. One thing I don't like and never seen is corn in the egg drop soup. Of all things consistent across the fleet, corn in the soup is one.
  19. Never needed a mattress topper. Coffee machines are there already. Ice, no matter how much this has been asked by us, never as much as we'd like. Once we did have a butler on Spirit understand and actually had an igloo in room stocked with ice at all times. Have always had plenty of coffee and tea. All items mentioned can be asked of the butler once onboard. Of course, results may vary.
  20. Sounds pretty much like our Prima experience on early sailing. Nothing has changed. I would have stuck to Haven restaurant more though. Quite good. Even skipped Cagney's yet again. Plus you can order room service from there.
  21. Ok, so we had the semi live niece cruise. To one up, SIL just got off BA, well, maybe not a one up. No semi live, just news after done. Her friend booked and did details. Mid ship balcony in good location. Not sure if any packages included for free, cough cough. Was not asked nor did provide consulting services. Third hand account from first time cruiser, one and done. Liked Belize. Turn off was a charge for everything around each corner.
  22. Not sure what cost has to do with it. If teen is third or fourth pax as those usually big discount. Summer plenty of kids. As suggested, register first day at club and have them go first night.
