Equinox did not update most of the cabins, but did the revolutionize the Retreat Lounge (formerly Michaels Club) and installed a Retreat sun deck, which is quite nice, but no pool or bar as on E class. They have a staffer which attends the guests, provides any drink or menu item they request..generally pretty quickly.

Oceanview Cafe dinner service being eliminated?

Actually it sounds like something I'd order, just can't imagine the taste of banana and chicken. -

Sent the menu to DH. He asked if this was in Luminae....BTW...we're in the same house, but I'm on my computer downstairs, he on his phone upstairs....the older generation is making digital progress - we just don't actually talk to each other....haha..... My answer... "no....MDR...but if you want, it could be in Luminae...just presented much nicer! Maybe with a French name.... Cassoulet or porc et haricots" -

Wish you wouldn't feed me those lines...but here goes....would that be after Pork and Bean dinner? -

There's a time and a place for 'beans'....Bushes or any others. Just can't enjoy the thought of beans and pork cheeks on an X menu. Wonder what banana stuffed chicken tastes like? -
What do Celebrity do to manage their financial situation

Wouldn't you form an opinion during your cruise this month whether to book in 2024? -

Sometimes service quality is subjective, so you have to sail to form an opinion on current service and quality. These comments are unique to each poster although educated opinion is worth weighing. -

Or maybe selling some older ships? -
We were on the Equinox in Nov. '22.... our aft suite had not been revolutionized, although we did see one near the elevator had different 'colours' so assume it had been. We were told it had been stopped, no date for finishing. Luminae looked exactly the same as 2019; Retreat Lounge had been updated.

Do you Feel X is Cheapening their Product
Oceangoer2 replied to mcrcruiser's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I would generally respond to this kind of post with a 😀....but I found I was just going to pass over it.....then I thought I should express myself here.....I just feel sad with so many comments on multiple threads that have finally become depressing to me. It's sad the cruise lines have to cut back to keep going and sad we will have to either accept those cutbacks (for now) or choose not to sail. Sorry ..... your humour should have been appreciated. -

Yes...you're right. A station involves a choice; a prepared dish does not. And....2 of the 3 are generally served with pasta but not necessarily. Since I've never dined at dinner in the OV, I should not have commented. mea culpa. -

I ordered Steak Diane Flambe in one of our home city higher end restaurants....I agree it was horrible and tough. I asked why and they said it's flank steak. Some will say they love flank steak but I won't take a chance on it again. So it's possible this is the case on and off ships. -

you're right but there ARE fewer of them (E Class). Not defending...I'm not a fan of IV, just posting what was on one of the threads on CC. -

Some posters have said it's the engineers and design staff...no or fewer balconies are less drag (is that the right term....? I'm no ship designer) so less fuel use. -

No, no....you misunderstood..where did you get the word 'refused' or are you just having a poke (again)...I only said we ordered it from the MDR menu when we didn't see it on the L menu...and the MDR menu was provided to our table and others every evening. -

Being on the other end of surveys often (?) I find the questions framed in every way possible which inevitably doesn't provide the first reaction the first time. -

They ask until they get the answers they want. I take surveys or polls as an indicator not gospel. -

Exactly what I posted....we ordered these from the MDR menu....odd. And yes to your other post re Tilapia and Turkey. This is why I had a problem ordering from any menu. I did acknowledge I'm picky so that's on me and not X. Oh well....b'fast and lunch are great and eating less dinner helps keep the calories down. If I could only stop eating dessert! 🥲 -

We were on the Equinox in Nov. past and Shrimp Cocktail and Escargot were only on MDR menu, not Luminae, which we thought kind of backwards. Maybe it was a 'supply issue'..🤔...on that particular cruise or, if you were on before us, maybe you ordered them all?? 😁😉 -

These items are not on the Luminae menu (sea urchin or pork cheeks) but DH finds some of the 'exotic' on the Murano menu. He also orders shrimp cocktail and escargot from the MDR menu which is not on L. I enjoy well prepared soups and sauces (veloute/vierge) and L does provide both. I only have a small issue with the lack of choice on L menu. Topic WAS the OV closing dining for dinner. -
Over many posts, you seem quite dissatisfied with the Celebrity product, perhaps not in the past but it seems definitely now. Would you consider another line that will provide what it is you're looking for at the price you are comfortable with? You've mentioned your cruises with Royal but unhappy with them. You have said you 'sleep around' other lines and have a great idea of how things should be. Why waste your time here on X board? Perhaps explore the Oceania board whose posters may 'complain' less then X posters, and provide insight to a form of cruising which will make you happier? Or are all these responses due to keeping your opinions flowing and spreading dissatisfaction.

We were on the 401 on the 24th....closed from London westward, but open London eastward. One lane slow travel from London until Kitchener then clear through to Toronto. Same, but reverse, coming home IN THE DARK. Scary ride. Wouldn't have done it, but first family Christmas in 3 years. Clear weather but chancy roads, however trucks were driving faster than cars in the slush covered outer lane. All forms of travel seem to have suffered over the Christmas holiday.

We 'pay' for a suite for a variety of reasons, one of which is dining...it doesn't have to be a private Luminae dining room, but nice that it is smaller and service is expected to be better. In our case, however, we don't find the 'food upscale', but less than we expect...in fact, the MDR menu is preferred on some occasions. One poster quoted a server as saying "Luminae is all about presentation" to which we agree. If there are cutbacks to the MDR and other dining venue menus, it also shows on the L menu...only a few options, not necessarily of the quality enjoyed in 'upscale' restaurants, does not make fine dining. -

We have NEVER dined in the OV for dinner in all our years cruising and now I think we've missed something we would have enjoyed and perhaps it's probably too late. My friends tell me the O cafe experience is quite nice....and has a complete menu. More and more I hear on this site, those who are strongly considering O over X. Who knew x's and o's would become more than a game. but a lifestyle...LOL.
