  1. That's what I do except I use Skyroam. No need to connect to free (unsecured) wifi hotspots. Solis WiFi Hotspot | Stay Connected – soliswifi
  2. No travel insurance is direct pay. All travel insurance is reimbursement based. Some policies do offer to discuss with a healthcare provider an ability of proof to be ability to pay, but that is up to each insurance company and completely up to the discretion of the medical facility. (They are not going to do that for a $5K bill, only for a major medical situation) If you're talking about missed flights, or needing an extra few nights in a hotel and meals, then the answer is no. Medical evacuation is different though. Evacuation from the ship is free since it's done by a military search and rescue team. Medical evacuation from 1 hospital (only if you are an inpatient) to another ( not necessarily home, but to the nearest that is able to better treat you) will be coordinated by your insurance company and the doctors involved.
  3. Corporations and "painfully clear" doesn't compute in too many cases these days.
  4. Ahhhh, Point of Sale!!!! I thought you were saying the other POS 🤪
  5. Is the problem a manpower issue, a process issue, or a technology issue? maybe they haven't completed a LEAN process or a Six Sigma project to make that actual determination.
  6. Yes, I have filed a claim. Yes, I have been reimbursed up to the max allowed for a "covered" reason under the terms of the policy AND I provided all the proper documentation required. I have also had a claim denied because I didn't fully comply with the procedures spelled out in the policy. Lately, insurance companies have been delayed in responding. They claim it is due to being inundated with claims. Expect 90 to 180 days.
  7. I hope nothing but the best for you and I hope I am wrong. I see two possible issues. The negative Covid test usually requires a MD's note and proper lab with the proper dates. The 100% CFAR (Cancel For Any Reason) has to be cancelled "prior" to scheduled ship departure time. You did a lot of right things for the right reasons, but in my experience in life, there's a reason why "Nice guys finish last". Hopefully, Princess will stick up for you and verify your communications. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  8. Yea, when I first started traveling, I quickly realized my TA had no clue what the coverages were and/or how limited they were even though she was cashing in that commission check. That's why I now go through Steve or one of his fantastic people at TripInsuranceStore.com
  9. I'm 95% sure that you'll receive the FCC "IF" you follow the proper procedure. I just don't know exactly what that proper procedure is. As I said earlier, I'd be calling the TA and I'd probably call the insurance company also. I'd make sure they understand that you are NOT cancelling yet, you're just asking for the proper protocol.
  10. Have you considered Vrbo? That's what we've decided to go with instead of a hotel. You can go to the site and see what properties are available in the area of London you are interested in. See where the nearest tube station is,etc. Just a thought. I used to love my Marriott properties in the past but have found I enjoy trying Vrbo properties.
  11. Cruiselines use Common Core math I think 🤪
  12. OBC is just a credit to your account. Whichever bill comes in first, gets deducted from the credit.
  13. Thank you for asking this question. I've become very familiar with travel insurance over the years, but I've always wondered what the correct procedure was to begin a cancellation and ensuring that the CFAR portion of the policy was acted upon. So, please do come back and share what you find. Regarding the question of did you purchase the policy in the proper timeframe? I would surmise that Yes you did. This stipulation is to prevent people who have no coverage deciding to buy a week before travel because something came up. Exactly how to properly cancel? This board is a good start, but I would also be asking my TA since they got a nice commission for selling the policy.
  14. Use a broker like Steve at TripInsuranceStore.com. He often is on CruiseCritic in the Travel Insurance section under the “Ask A Question” forum. Steve works with 9 or 10 different insurance companies to help you find a policy that works for you. He is also there when you run into issues to help you have a better experience.
  15. I'll just throw this out there. Did you happen to purchase Travel Insurance? If you purchased the insurance plan offered by Carnival, it includes a Cancel For Any Reason benefit. This allows you to cancel the cruise all the way up to ships scheduled departure time and receive a 75% credit towards a future cruise That way maybe you can take a more relaxing cruise when the stars are better aligned for you.
  16. As with any 3rd party site, you are not the customer of the product you are reserving until you check in. This goes with hotels, airlines, rental cars, Air B&B's, cruises, etc. Savings can be had; however, issues can be had also. I've watched people at airline counters, rental car counters, and hotel counters voice concern over what they "perceived" they were supposed to receive vs what the 3rd party site actually booked/reserved.
  17. First let me state that whatever makes you more comfortable, then you do you. Having said that, please allow me to share my thoughts. If you were to fly into Denver and find that a snowstorm has closed the roads to your hotel, would you be financially distraught or would you be bummed out a little bit? My experience in the past is that most hoteliers understand stuff like this and would either allow the cancellation or give you some type of future credit. (maybe a phone call is in order) Travel insurance is there to "share" any risk that you have concerns about. They are not set up to "assume" any and all risk. So, what is at risk here? The only risk I can see would be if you passed away on the trip and require repatriation of your remains to your loved ones. All other risks could be absorbed, or shared, with a minimal Trip Cost that has some Trip Delay, a little Trip Interruption, but lots of medical, evac, and repatriation coverage.
  18. Don't let the scare tactics allow you to not consider non-ship sponsored excursions. Is the possibility of not returning in time and the ship leaving without you something to consider? Yes. However, the odds are very minuscule. (Unless you're the 1 time it happens out of thousands of trips). These companies wouldn't be in business if they always caused problems with late returns. Word of mouth would kill the business. Just have your passport with you, your google translate app on the phone, and your next cruise stop is probably Cozumel. A bus will get you to Cozumel before the ship arrives. I find the non-ship sponsored excursions, cheaper, more adventurous, and more fun.
  19. I am getting conflicting information on the internet and the only statement from Royal seems to be from 2017. Would a 12 year old be counted as a young teen or a Voyager? One site suggested that 12 year olds are sort of in between Voyagers and Young Teens making it hard to find activities for him. Any help is appreciated.
  20. The concern I have is that very rarely do PVP's or many TA's have a clue what is in the insurance that they sell. (That's right, SELL. They get a commission on it.) Your policy that you bought from Carnival has nothing to do with Carnival other than they sold it. Your policy is administered by AON. Your PVP might give you bad advice and if they are mistaken in what they tell you, you have no leg to stand on. The only thing that is important is what is written in the policy. Again, find your policy and read it. Not the marketing brochure, the actual policy itself. It can be very eye opening between what you "think is or is not covered, and what is actually covered. I know it was for me the first time I started adulting and buying travel insurance. I learned alot just by reading threads in the insurance board here on Cruise Critic.
  21. Not sure what you mean by "What Happens?" What are the Trip Delay terms in your insurance? What are the Definitions of Trip Delay, Missed flights? etc. Are the claims paid out on a fixed basis or paid out based on a percentage of Trip Costs? This is all information that you will find in your policy. If you can't find your policy, a quick Google search will help.
  22. I already purchased my Oyster card and my trip isn't until Sept. Pre-paying a few things just to take advantage of the current generous exchange rate. Actually went to my Triple AAA and bought some British Pounds to take advantage of the exchange rate.
  23. Check out YouTube.com Thousands of videos available Here's just one
  24. I had a cruise do that before. If I remember correctly, it was a cruise out of Venice. I believe it was because one of the countries we were visiting wanted to see the actual passports before arrival
